Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, easy to use and apply
Disadvantages: Don't give a nice shimmer
Up until recently I've been a real die hard blusher fan. I have pots and jars and just absolutely loads of them knocking about and it's always been a 'I can't live without it item' for me. I do have cheekbones fortunately and I do like to make them prominent and along with blushers I like highlighters and, well you get the picture I'm sure lol.
I have a really, really pale skin-tone. I don't tan (even if I sit in the sun or go on a sunbed) and although we are told that brown shades of make up suits everyone I beg to be different. I don't and that is that. I look weird (My Mum says I look like the living dead!) and again I own loads of different brown make ups fro lip glosses to eyeliners!
However a while ago I purchased (because it was a reduced) a MakeBelieve Bronzer in Boots and I have been using it loads! It's fantastic stuff at £10.00 a compact (please see review I wrote on here if your interested) but because of me using it so regularly I'm running out and I am gutted!
So the other day in Boots looking for a few new bits of summer shaded make up for a daytime date I'm going on later this week I decided to try another bronzing item and this was on offer at £1.99 (for any item within the Boots Natural collection Range) or any 3 items for a fiver. The only problem I had was which colour option to go for as they are available in Sahara Sun or Tropical Tan shades. In the end taking a closer look at the tubs I opted for Sahara Sun as they are lighter in shade and don't include orangy colours as does the other option.
The Packaging:
Clear round tub which is 20g in size. The lid is white plastic and it simply twists on/off to the top of it and it says it is Natural Collection on it. On the base of the see through bottom where the pearls are stored I'm told what they are and how to use them, the colour is stated, ingredients are listed as are the contact details for Boots, size and recycle symbol are shown and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice simple enough packaging this is with a thick white sponge protecting the pearls inside the tub though just to let you know, no applicator is given.
Using Them:
Well I removed the sponge to be greeted with about 50 small hard wooden pearls infused with colour. Some of the beads are a golden colour, some a pinkish and some a brown and all look pearly in colour with no glitter. Plenty of powder covers all the balls (some settles in the base of the tub itself though not alot) and all you do is use a brush, sweep it about to get the desired amount of powder you want to use and get wafting it on you face.
I found the colour to come off the balls really easily and I didn't and don't go mad. I build the colour slowly onto my face and it blends easily which it does whether on top of moisturiser, foundation whatever. It's easy to put it where you want to without it flaking off the brush, it doesn't sit in any lines and wrinkles you have and because it contains a light shimmer opposed to glitter it's comfortable and soft to apply and doesn't look fake but simply gives off a natural glow. Also once its applied you can forget it's there cos you can't feel it, it's none transferring and stays put all day long.
However. Although I don't mind this it isn't as smooth and silky on the skin as I'd like it to be and the colours although mingle well when applying it isn't as multifaceted as the far more expensive one I have been using lately. It doesn't give off a lot of shimmer and it's quite matt. That is complain from me but maybe not for many!
Overall:
An economy bronzer which is easy to use and doesn't appear to block pores. It's easy to remove and if you do make a mistake whilst applying this its simple to correct it. I don't mind it but I can see why it's only £1.99 a tub usually. They just isn't luxurious but it's fine for day to day use....just not mind blowingly great lol.
Only available in Boots stores.
Summary: Ok for day to day use but nothing special
