Boots Natural Collection Duo Eye Shadows
Disadvantages: strange colour and no longevity
==Boots Natural Collection Duo Eye Shadow==
Seeing as I am having a good clear out of a lot of my make up from the rather large collection stored in a drawer in my bedroom I can honestly say that I do by a lot of rubbish and no wonder I am poor! This Boots natural Collection Duo Eye Shadow is one such item that makes me wonder what I am on when I go on one of my spending sprees in Boots.
Okay so the price is pretty cheap and this isn't a range which is going to set me back a ton of money but the £1.99 pence price tag that this product has was obviously a wasted £2 because this product has clearly been used only a handful of times before spending the rest of its life tucked away in my drawer and I cant' see myself using it again and time soon.
So because it is a Natural Collection product which is a range specifically done by Boots stores it is only possible to buy this from Boots itself either online or via their internet site. The current price, as I believe it has been for a good while, it £1.99 which would seem like a really fair price considering you get two different shades of eye shadow in the one little pot.
Unfortunately I seemed to have picked up a really random type of shade for myself and although it doesn't appear this duo shade is currently available (thank goodness) there is a similar one that Boots still sell. MY one has the name Apple Frost. From this you can probably gauge that one of the colours is an apple green and the other is like a white frost colour. These shades are not particularly subtle and I am not sure what I was thinking when I purchased it. On the Boots website there seems to be five different colour options to choose from when buying from this duo range and I would have been much better choosing a brown and beige one.
The packaging of this product is very simple and consists of a basic little pot which has a clear screw lid and a white coloured bottom section. Housed tightly inside this pot there are the two shades of eye shadow and there isn't any sort of application brush which is probably what keeps the price of the product down. There is very limited product information on the label on the bottom of the eye shadow but it does say that there is a generous 5 grams of the product and of course the name of the shade.
I probably picked up this item because I tend to mainly choose shades of eye shadow which don't have any glitter or shimmer in for daytime use. I find that not only do these have a far more natural look about them when applied (usually) but there isn't any glittery particles that will collect in the creases of my eye lids which is one thing I really can't stand with overly shimmery eye shadow products.
Out of the two shades that are in little pot I seem to have used the white colour much more than the apple green one. I can say that this is because the apple green colour was way too green for my liking and didn't' seem to blend at all naturally in with the white shade. The green shade seemed to be more like an alien green than any apple i have ever eaten! The white however wasn't too bad and this makes me contemplate whether I should throw it out (like I had planned to do after reviewing it). The white has a slightly reflective look about it although how this is possible when there doesn't seem to be any actual glitter speckles in it is quite good. When applied the white colouring is far more light and translucent than it would first appear to be and it is just a shame that the green shade isn't the same.
The longevity of the product however was pretty poor and I remember using it thinking that most of the white colouring would disappear but leave the far uglier green colour looking greener than ever. Typical that the nicer of the two shades would be the one with the least staying power!
Although the product is fairly easy to apply and it doesn't feel harsh going on to the skin of the eye lid the down side for me is that I don't like one of the shades and that the lasting ability of the eye shadow is not that good. I suppose for the price you are getting what you are paying for and the colour is of course more my fault with picking it as opposed to a fault on the side of the product itself.
I think even though the price was relatively cheap compared to most brands this is not a duo eye shadow set that I would be buying again even in a different shade option. The fact that it doesn't' last long on the eyes makes the price irrelevant because really I am searching for a product which has the ability to last through the entire day without wearing off, which unfortunately this product does do.
It has to be a score of 2 out of 5 stars for this product from Boots natural Collection. It is not one I will be buying again and I certainly wouldn't' recommend it.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Summary: not one i'll buy again
