Boots Natural Collection is a budget range of cosmetics, with each item costing under 2GBP. I don't always find shades that suit me in this range, but it's always worth a look as it's so inexpensive and, in my experience, generally good value for money.
I bought a dark grey eye liner pencil from the Natural Collection range which seemed to be the right shade for me. I like a dark eye liner to give my eyes some definition, but find that black eye liner looks too dark on me and gives me a tired look.
The colour of this eye liner is true to the appearance of it - it's very annoying when you buy make-up and it looks completely different to how you'd pictured it, but this one was exactly the shade I'd been hoping for. The eye liner is easy to apply, being soft enough that it's comfortable to apply to the sensitive skin around the eye, yet not so soft that it makes a mess. I've never quite figured out how people apply liquid eye liner in a true line; I get on much better with the pencil ones.
One thing I have noticed with this eye liner is that when the point needs sharpened, it sometimes sharpens unevenly because the wood splinters. This means that the eye liner can be exposed at one side of the pencil but the other side has a huge jagged piece of wood sticking up, and I find I waste quite a bit of this eye pencil trying to even it up so I can use it. I'm not sure if this problem is down to it being a cheaper product.
Once I've applied the eye liner, it pretty much stays in place, unless I'm out for a very long time or in a very warm place, when I can start to see small amounts of the colour bleed out of the original line. For every day use, though, this stays in place well enough for me.
I'd buy eye liner pencils from the Natural Collection range again. This one was about 1.99GBP when I bought it, and it's lasting quite well, apart from the issue when sharpening it. The range of shades available does vary from time to time, but as long as a dark grey was available, I wouldn't have any hesitation in buying another of these eye liners.
Item: Natural Collection Eye Liner
Colour: Black (but this isn't stated on the pencil, I just used my eyes to work that out haha)
Size: Not stated on the pencil
Bought in: Boots
I was browsing in my local Boots and decided to myself that I would buy a proper eye liner pencil, as I hadn't used one in a while. I have been dabbling in gel eye liners and liquid eye liners and decided I fancied a wee eye liner pencil for a change. That in itself wasn't a bad idea but I don't think I made a very good choice. The Boots where I live has a very limited make up selection and the only brand I could see a plain black eye liner in was the Natural Collection range. I have had quite good experiences with Natural Collection before and have had a few great bargains but sadly this wasn't one of them.
This is a standard eye liner in the "pencil" design. The colour of the eye liner is the same colour as the paint around the pencil so you can clearly see what colour you are going for, which is handy especially as the pencil I took home doesn't actually state the shade/colour on it anywhere. I didn't notice that straight away but it strikes me as strange that there wouldn't just be a simple colour or even number on it. The writing that is on the pencil is white text on the black background. It has the "Natural Collection" name across the front with the recognisable "flower" design over this too. It also says "Eye Lines" instead of the expected "Eye Liner". When you turn the pencil around the details on the back simply give the address of the Boots company. The lid is clear plastic and after just two uses has already got a big crack down it and that was just from the pressure of the lid being put on. The pencil looks quite standard and classic but it's weird that the name isn't stated on it as other products from the Natural Collection do, so it's not usual for that range.
Application and wear:
Application - Oh my goodness, what has gone on in the factory with this one. This pencil is more like a black lip stick encased in a wooden pencil shape than a regular eye liner. I make sure to keep my make up in a cool place so it certainly hasn't "melted" but on application this eye liner is very soft to the touch and gets all over my eye lashes and fingers as well as the actual eye lid line. As it is so soft the section of the pencil the touches my eye lashes as I apply it to my eye line, coats my eye lashes in a thick black gloop. But not the way mascara does, this coats them as if I am preparing to go in to a camouflaged battle!! Haha In compete contrast the actual line on my eye does initially look good, but that's only if you can see it past the thick black blobs on my eye lashes.
Wear - This does not stay put at all. After the initial rubbing off of the eye lash globs, the actual eye liner-ed area starts to slope/slide off my eye lids and I have what looks like a black eye. As the pencil is so soft it literally melts in to my eye lids and feels really greasy too. So that 'quite nice' line is a nasty black blur after a few minutes. The first time I wore this I actually doubted that I had applied it correctly or that maybe it did get hot and melt so I popped it in the fridge to be double sure, but the same thing happened again and it still felt really soft and gooey straight out the fridge. It also smells like melted rubber (as well as looking like it, at least it is consistent!) haha
I do not recommend this product at all. For £1.99 I have only had two attempted applications of it. Both ended in complete removal and me having to use another product so it will be going in the bin. I won't be put off the Natural Collection range as other products have been better but this is one item I won't be trying again. 1 lowly star given as that's as low as I can rate it on here haha
Natural collection is Boots own brand of budget cosmetics, most of the items in the range are around £2 to buy seperately, but more often than not they are on a 3 for £5 offer.
My choice of eyeliner is No7, but I only buy this when I have one of those £5 vouchers that Boots give out so often, if I dont have one then the Natural Collection eyeliner is my next choice.
This review is on the black version of the eyeliner, it comes in a thin silver pencil with a clear plastic lid. The eyeliner itself is simple and easy to apply, although not so much when it is new and sharp. It works best when it has been worn down a bit as it is softer and easier to smooth onto the eyelid. The great thing about this eyeliner (other than its bargain price) is its staying power! If i put this on in the morning I find that I never have to re-apply it throughout the day, its stays neat and clear for hours and is very hard to smudge. When it comes to removing the liner I find a good facial wipe removes it quite easily, water alone wont do it, it will just give you really bad panda eyes.
Overall I would definitely recommend this eyeliner to everyone, especially if you are on a tighter budget! Its easy to apply and has a brilliant staying power throughout the day.
When it comes to make-up I will try most items once! Natural Collection is a range from Boots where products are frequently on a 3 for £5.00 special offer. This eye liner is one of those items and is available for £1.99 separately.
On a daily basis I wear eye liner, mascara, foundation, eye shadow, blusher, primer and cover-up. This means that I spend quite a lot on make-up over the year and every single month I appear to be buying at least one or two items.
Black eye liner is my eye liner of choice and I only wear other colours for nights out or special events. I'm not too fussy about what I use as long as it works well and is long lasting. I believe that this is available in more than one colour but I only saw the brown colour as well as the black that I purchased.
I apply my eye liner on the inside of my eye at the bottom part of my eye. I know that this is probably not the fashion any more but I have done it this way for a number of years and I have perfected this. Also, I do not care about looking like I follow fashion as I do what I like what I like and never worry about what others think!
The colour of this is very dark and it applies easily on to the bit on the inside of my eye. It takes me just a few seconds to run this across the bottom of my eye and get a lovely thick dark line. This eye liner slides across my eye very well and even when it is becoming a little blunt it is simple to spread across and the eye liner moves across evenly.
After using this eye liner for the first time I was very pleased with the results. My eyes looked lovely and the liner was long lasting staying around all day while I was at work. As long as I did not knock my eye there was no smudging and overall I would give this a 4/5. I will say that this does smudge easily and even a sneeze when this is first applied can lead to some being spread on to my face and eye. That's a shame but I take care to apply this and stay quite still for a moment or two after using this and have a flawless looking result.
Since becoming a student, I have had to work really hard to budget in all of my expenditures. Although not particularly fun, it is allowing me to try out a range of cheaper alternatives to see if they live up to the usual pricier things I would purchase. I wear make up on a daily basis, and this includes eye liner - both kohl pencil and liquid. I get through make up quite quickly and am constantly having to repurchase it, therefore I had to make some cutbacks on what make up I would purchase. Natural Collection is an own brand available only at Boots stores and online on their website. It is a very budget based collection and contains a small section of various products retailing at £1.99. They also have a constant offer where you can pick up three products for £5.00 to save yourself a bit of cash. For £1.99, I thought I would give their kohl eye pencil a go and see how I got on with it.
I like to wear black eye liner, and this is because I personally feel that it helps to define my eyes and create a better look for me. However, for those who prefer a much more natural take on make up, this is available in a brown shade. Unfortunately, that is where the range stops in terms of colour shades. I am aware it is a budget eye liner, however it would be nice if they offered a few more shades such as silver or gold which people could wear for nights out, however I suppose that comes back to it being 'Natural' Collection. However, I only particularly like wearing black eye liner so this was not so much of a problem for me. I drew a little line on my hand using the tester as I did not want to just apply the tester on to my eye. I was surprised at how pigmented and dark the colour came out for a budget eye liner, because many cheap ones I have purchased in the past have no colour pay off. Since I was spending under £2.00 and it seemed like a decent shot, I went ahead and brought this.
In terms of application, my preference is to apply the kohl pencil eye liners directly to the waterline of the eye. If you are unsure of what that is, it is just the inside edge of your eye. I am aware that some people prefer to apply it around the eye directly on the skin, but I never achieve a neat look doing it that way. When applying in to my eye, I noticed a strong black shade almost instantly, and I did not have to keep going over it again and again like you have to with some cheap eye liners. This is a great bargain for the amount of colour pay off you get from it, it really is top quality. The eye liner itself is super creamy, therefore glides on to the eye nicely without you having to poke it around and cause injury. I even got so confident using this that I did not require a mirror to apply it (although I would not recommend this to everyone)!
Once I had finished the application, my eyes did look lovely, and I felt that the eye liner gave absolutely brilliant results. They stayed dark for a good few hours without me having to go back over it again and again, and the looks you can achieve with this are fantastic considering the price. I have mingled with many eye liners in the past including the pricier brands such as Revlon, Urban Decay and Benefit Cosmetics, and I actually think I would rather pay £2.00 to use this little beauty as opposed to forking out so much for an eye liner that realistically is not that much better. So, I was extremely happy with the results of this eye liner, but I have to say that there was just one little niggle that gets to me about it.
Despite being a lovely, creamy eye liner to apply, it does mean that as it is so soft, it does rub away easily and cause quite a lot of smudging. If you so much as knock your eye or step out directly in the rain, I do find that this seems to go everywhere and it can be an awfully messy eye liner to work with once it has been applied. I do find that although it lasts a good few hours, it never stays exactly in place and it just tends to smudge all over the place.
Overall, in terms of value for money, you really do get a good quality and efficient eye liner for your money, however the smudging just means I have to knock off one star as it can leave your whole look incredibly messy. I would recommend picking this up however if you are currently on a budget and wanting to look at spending less on make up, as it really does the job for a great price and I would be happy to continue using it. My only recommendation would be to carry a mirror with you at all times to ensure it does not end up all over your face by the end of the day! Thanks for reading.
I have tried out many items in the "Natural Collection" range of make-up and cosmetics from Boots. I find that there are often promotional deals running in the range, for example the option allowing for any three products in the range to be purchased for only £5 which I think is a great price. I took advantage of this deal recently and stocked up on some make-up essentials.
One of the items that I purchased was the "Natural Collection Eye Lines" eyeliner pencil. The pencil is available in a choice of only two shades, which are brown or black, and I bought the black coloured pencil for myself as I prefer to outline my eyes in a dark liner. The normal price for the eyeliner pencil is only £1.99 which I think offers a great value price even when the product is not on a special offer.
The packaging is fairly simplistic and minimal it has to be said, although this is not something that I find off-putting or particularly negative. The packaging has changed recently and the product now looks different from the picture shown at the top of the Dooyoo page, but I believe the products are the same as I have purchased the eyeliner pencils in this range before and have found no differences between those products and the one I bought recently.
The packaging now consists of a thin black coloured pencil (or brown, in the case of the brown coloured liner) which has a see-through plastic lid on top. The pencil is sealed with plastic when purchased, which I quite liked, as it gives the impression that the product is completely hygienic.
Using the pencil was very easy to use. I found that the little point at the end of the pencil was really quite sharp - sharpened to a point in fact - when I first used it, and this allowed me to control the eyeliner perfectly. I found that the Natural Collection eyeliner actually felt quite 'soft' when I was using it, and is similar to a kohl-type pencil, the consistency being similar to a soft crayon or something similar.
I found that the soft texture of the pencil allowed for a slightly more 'smudged' effect which allowed me to create some smoky-looking lines. This was an attractive look and I liked the effect created, but I did feel that the softly-textured quality of the product made it slightly less versatile than other - albeit more expensive - eyeliner products that I have purchased in the past, as more 'immaculate' lines were difficult to achieve. If you are looking to achieve only immaculately straight lines, or thinly-drawn edges, then this product is probably not for you. For myself however, I liked the fact that the pencil gave a sort of smudged effect to the line I had drawn, particularly towards the outer corners of my eyelids.
The Natural Collection pencil appeared to be quite easy to control. I didn't find that it created an overwhelming mess or was difficult to use. Be warned though - due to the 'smudging' effect that can easily be achieved with the product, I find that I must keep the pencil sharpened to a point most of the time. If the nib or point of the pencil is allowed to become overly 'thick' or too blunt, then the smudging effect becomes far too much for my own taste, and I find that the line drawn can appear unkempt and rather messy-looking.
All in all though, for the value price of the product, and for the attractive look I can achieve with the soft pencil I am pleased with the purchase and will buy it again. It is not the sort of pencil that I would use everyday as I do find it is overly soft to achieve a more subtle look. For a slightly more intense "smoky-eyes" look however, I find that this is a great value product and it actually performs much better than a lot of more expensive alternatives I have used before!
The Boots Natural Collection range is not tested on animals. I have found the eyeliner is easy enough to remove, with either a make-up remover product and some cotton wool, or with a make-up removing moist facial wipe, and have experienced no difficulty or irritation when using the liner.
Items from the Boots Natural Collection can be purchased in store in larger branches of Boots nationwide, or you can purchase online at www.boots.com.
**About the Product**
Boots Natural Collection Eyeliner
Bought from Boots for £1.99
Black or Brown
The eyeliner is a black pencil, with the natural collection label printed on it in white. It has a secured lid, which will not come of unless you take it off. It then had a plastic packaging around the product which is easily removed. I assume this is so that people cannot use the eyeliner.
I had never used this product up until a few weeks ago. I had run out of my eyeliner and needed to find a cheap and good one fast. Boots was my nearest shop and at just under two pound I thought it was worth a try. It goes on very easy and does not feel scratchy when it is applied to my eye. I tend to use a lot of eyeliner when I go out and worry that it will end up all over my face. This eyeliner does not do that, it stays on well, although I did have to top it up during the night. It comes of easy if you remember to take it off before you sleep, but you have to put more effort into taking it off if you slept in it. Overall a good value eyeliner which does its job.
When it comes to buying eyeliners I am always using them and losing them. Just when I go out and buy another one an old one turns up and so I actually own loads of them, but then I do like eyeliner so never mind lol!
These I spotted in my local Boots store in two colour options which are black and brown and they cost £1.99 each though I always buy Boots Natural Collection products when they are on offer which they usually are with any three coming to £5.00 (and you can collect Boots advantage card points too!).
I opted for the black option and it comes in a whitish colour outer pencil and on that we are told that it is Natural collection. It has a pull on/off see through plastic lid that protects the nib and the end of it is colour coded to the option you pick. In my opinion this is a rather cheap looking product, but to me its always about the product.
The Pencil Itself:
Well it is just that..... a pencil, so it does need sharpening occasionally and I find mine to go blunt rather fast after using it so I do have to sharpen mine rather alot.
The black option I went for really is a matt black and its a soft kajol. I actually find this really, really easy to apply to my eyes, it comes off the pencil evenly and providing that I don't sharpen it too much it does not break or poke my eye out or anything adverse like that lol.
It goes on smoothly, doesn't ever agitate my sensitive eyes and stays put all day till I remove it with my usual routine and it stays on exactly the colour it was when first applied too without fading. However I do find this to smudge a little if I apply it too thickly and it isn't one bit waterproof either however I find it fine if I only apply it thinly and don't cry!
This for me is simply an ok make up bag staple. If I want to create a more dramatic look on my eyes and get lashings of black to stay put there I won't use this, but for a soft and calm look this is perfectly fine, it just isn't by far one of my favourite eyeliners sadly.
Only available from Boots stores.

I love Boots, they sell pretty much everything a girl could want in her handbag! when i found that they sell their own range of make up I was so excited. It sells everything a normal make up brand would sell but for half the price!
They sell mascara, nail varnish, foundation, concealer, powders, eye shadows, eye liners you name it.
The natural collection eye liners are cheap and they have all the colours you could possibly want. However I found that when apply the eye liner I would have to apply some pressure to get it to show up. I'm not expecting much from the products because it's so cheap.
Unfortunately it wasn't waterproof , however it was quite difficult for me to remove! It look lovely when it's on and lasts around 2-3 hours, so not incredibly long, but long enough for a party or a coffee outing!
They are £1.50 in boots and the pencil itself lasts a few months.
I recommend these if you are on a budget and in need of some good quality makeup!
I am a big fan of the Natural Collection range at Boots and think that if you want a product that is going to do the job and at a good price you can't go wrong with these products.
One of my purchases from the range has been the natural collection eyeliner which I had purchased in brown. Unfortunately this eyeliner has nearly come to an end but I'm delighted to say that it is one makeup item that will definitely be making reappearance in my collection.
-Using the eyeliner-
This particular eyeliner is in pencil form with the stick being your chosen colour and a plastic lid that fits securely into place on top of the pencil.
What I like about this eyeliner is that I have found it useful to conduct 3 makeup tasks; adding definition and shape to my eyebrows, lining the top of my eyelids and for use on my waterline.
When using this product on my eyebrows I just gently sweep the pencil over my brows and it just gives them a bit more shape, do not push hard or you will get very dark unnatural looking eyebrows but as I said a gentle sweep makes them look just that extra bit defined. I have been using the brown pencil to do this and have found that as you are only using a small amount it looks natural and blends with your eyebrows very well.
Using the pencil on my eyelids it glides very gently across and has a very smooth consistency. Having just drawn on a piece of paper to analyse the pencil further I would say it almost has a mousse like consistency and reminds me of the Avon glimmer sticks eyeliners in the way that it is very smooth. For the price of £1.99 it is a bargain considering a lot of the eyeliners in this price range have the consistency of actual pencils and tend to a bit of a hassle trying to apply. I have found that using this pencil on my eyelids will generally last all day.
It is not often I use this pencil on my waterline as I have other products for that but on the occasion when I do I have found it very easy to apply however it does not last a very long time. After a couple of hours you will find that it has faded and needs to be reapplied.
Although this is a really nice eyeliner to use in order to get the best use and results from it I do recommend that you sharpen it regularly as when it begins to get blunt it becomes harder to apply and can snag on your skin.
-Price and availability-
You can find items from the Natural Collection at the majority of Boots stores and they are all very reasonably priced and are often on offer. I paid £1.99 for the eyeliner which I think is a real bargain.
This is a great eyeliner with multiple uses which is surprising for the price. Usually I am not too keen on the cheaper makeup that is available because from experience I have found that the quality isn't too great but I have yet to find a product from the Natural Collection range that I do not like. As soon as I have finished this eyeliner I will be repurchasing, I would rate this product 8 out of 10.
I don't wear a lot of make-up during the day, but when I do, this eyeliner is a very cheap, very decent option.
I own the black version of this eyeliner. It comes as a plain silvery-white pencil, with a coloured bit on the bottom so you know straight away which colour you've got, and a clear plastic lid to prevent everything in your bag getting covered in the stuff.
Probably the best thing about this liner is the price! Natural collection is available ffrom Boots, but for some reason this isn't listed on their website. However, I have seen it in Boots shops, but I couldn't tell you the exact price. There is a 3 for £5 offer on Natural collection at the moment and it will be included in this offer.
Using this pencil is dead easy. The liner itself is lovely and soft and not flaky at all. It goes on at a good rate without needing to apply too much pressure. When it's on, it doesn't end up looking cheap or clumpy. However, it doesn't last as long as I would perhaps like it to which means reapplying is necessary quite often. Despite this, I have a fair bit left still, and since it lasts so long it's even more of a bargain!
Overall, this is cheap and therefore it's important not to expect too much from it. As a liner, it is easy to use and looks a reasonable quality when on. It does wear off, but the pencil lasts ages even with regular sharpening. Highly recommended if you're on a budget, but only 4/5 stars because it's not amazing!
I'm the one known amongst my friends to be the one, who ends up with eyeliner and mascara half way down my face. I've never had much success applying it without half blinding myself or ending up looking worse than before I started. To be honest, I am rubbish at applying it and have tried every technique under the sun to apply properly, so when I buy a new eyeliner that is one of my main priorities.
The natural collection eyeliners come in a variety of colours and I ended up with just a simple black kohl pencil. Let me explain, on a night out, getting ready at a friend's house, I realised that I had left my trusty maybelline eye liner at home and my friend gave me her eyeliner to use and said to keep it. So I did exactly that and after a bit of research, I was surprised to learn that it was a Natural Collection because of the ease of application. The eyeliner is pretty simple, it comes in a white pencil with black writing and a clear lid but it's the product that counts, right?
I found the eyeliner glided on really easily on to my lower lashes and I hardly had to put any pressure on the pencil, which can irritate my eyes and the colour instantly shows, you don't have to go over your eye line again and again. I found that it lasted for a good few hours and then I had to reapply but that is what I would expect with something costing that price. The tip is soft and doesn't feel like it's dragging, which is essential when you have sensitive eyes.
I would say this eyeliner is excellent value costing just £1.99 and often the Natural Collection is on offer at 3 for £5 at Boots. I will definitely carry on to use this for everyday use but for an evening out, I might use something a little bit more dramatic but I am impressed.
I always love my eyeliner and it's my number one make-up on a night out! I'm sure it is for every girl. This cheap, hand-bag size, cute, good quality and value eyeliner is an excellent choice for any girl's handbag or make-up bag! This is for about two pounds and you have the choice whether you go for a brown eyeliner or a black eyeliner! Black is always the best as it defines your eyes, and can make your eyes either bigger or smaller!
however every time you sharpen your eyeliner it was quite sharp and you had always make sure it was blunt before you drew the line, but then it would go softer/blunter quite quickly, so the pencil always ends up getting smaller and smaller until you can no longer sharpen it. But however, I did sharpen it once and it did crack a little which means that this not always a good eyeliner but it still worked!
One thing that I didn't like about this eyeliner was that it did tend to get messy and leave you with black marks over your hands/fingers, not a good look!
Personally, this is a good eyeliner to buy and it is good use, quality and value and also no more breaking the bank as it is only just under two pounds! A huge must eyeliner for all you girls out there!
Recently across the Natural Collection range in boots there has been a 3 for 2 offer across their make up and since everything is under £2 I decided to treat myself to a few items!
This item being a black eyeliner and costing me just £1.99 - what a bargain! - plus collecting 4 boots advantage card points.
It comes in white packaging/ outside of eyeliner with a clear lid so that you can see the colour of the eyeliner.
To apply the eyeliner is not as soft or smooth as some of the kohl ones and does sometimes feel a little rough to the eye. Though saying that it does give a nice, smooth defined line when applied to the inner eye. Though unfortunatley this does smudge in 10 or so minutes so it not to great in this istance.
When applied around the eye it doesn't fair much better, though it doesn't smudge so much, it does not give a smooth curve and does look brittle to look at. It does not make your eyes more defined, in fact the only thing it does do it to make them look a little whiter, but that is only because you have big, black smudges around your eye sockets!
This is not one that I would personally reccomend!
I usually keep eyeliner for nights out because its a bit too much effort for me every day! When Im looking for a new eyeliner, my main priority is for it to be very easy to apply because otherwise it ends up all over the place as Im rather rubbish at applying the stuff.
The natural collection eyeliners come in a good range of colours and I got a black and a green colour as part of a 3 for £5 offer - so its excellent value, as are all of the products within this range. The pakaging is pretty simple, the outside of the pencil reflects the colour of the liner and it has a see through lid, which is sealed on so you know it hasn't been tried in the shop!
When I tried the eyeliner, I found that it glides on really easily and the colour is dark straight away - exactly what I wanted. One line was enough of a colour so I didn't have to go over it at all, which has helped the pencils to last much longer than some others I have used. In terms of lasting once applied, I found that after a few hours it started to wear away and I needed to reapply, but I have found this with many eyeliners so I wasn't expecting miracles from a product so cheap. It also doesn't iorritate my eyes at all, which are very sensitive so thats an obvious plus.
The tip is pretty soft which makes it easy to apply, and I don't need to sharpen it often so its lasting ages, although I don't use it every day. Overall, Id say this product is excellent for the price and would definitley recommend it.
A soft pencil / Define your eyes!
