Advantages: easy to apply, lasts well, cheap

Disadvantages: can be a little smudgy when applying

Sometimes I will get it into my head that I need a certain product (although in most cases I don't) and can't stop thinking about it until it's in my hand! A few weeks ago, from nowhere I suddenly decided that my life would not be complete without dark grey eyeliner. Why this was, I can't be entirely sure, given that me and eyeliners don't generally get on, and I have never used a grey eyeliner in my life.

I headed to Boots and started looking for a reasonably priced eyeliner in grey. You wouldn't think it would be too difficult, but it seemed that most brands didn't have grey and those that did were sold out. I noticed that Natural Collection had one in grey, but hesitated a bit, as the range is really aimed at teenagers, and I've had quite mixed results with it in the past. I decided though, given that it was so cheap (I think the whole Natural Collection cosmetics range is now under £2), it wouldn't be the end of the world if it turned out to be rubbish!

The actual pencil looks slightly different to the ones pictured, as I think the packaging has been updated on this range. Now the outside of the pencil is simply the same colour as the colour of the liner, so mine is grey.

I'm not sure how many colours this pencil comes in, but there are at least three - brown, black and grey.

I sometimes find eyeliner hard to apply, but found that this was soft and not scratchy when I put it on, although not so soft that it would break. I got a fairly clean line with this and it was easy to get it close to my lashes so there didn't look like there was a gap.

Personally the reason I wanted a grey liner was to achieve a smoky look which I managed to do well with this pencil as I found that I could blend it in as it was quite easy to smudge, which personally was great for me as that was the look I wanted to achieve, but I can imagine, that if you were wanting a very strong line, the fact this smudges so easily may not be too appealing.

I've used this pencil several times over the last few weeks and find that it tends to stay on most of the day, although I do sometimes think the colour looks a little faded, which isn't too bad with the grey, but might not look great if you were using the black.

This liner costs just £1.99 from Boots or can be bought online from www.boots.com

Overall I found this to be a good eyeliner for the price. It wasn't perfect, and I may be slightly wary about buying it in the black as it can be quite smudgy, but the grey was great and I would definitely buy that shade again.

Rimmel seems to be the best so far in what I have used but this sounds great. Nice review x

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find a long lasting eye liner!
