Advantages: Nice smell, not much else though
Disadvantages: end up with white smears on lips that are not easy to wipe in
Whilst browsing for christmas presents in Boots I was hunting around on the Natural Collection stand and came across a new product to the range Liquorish and Coconut intensive lip cream. Liquorish and coconut being two of my favourite things, there was no way I was leaving the store without one. I especially liked the warning on the back of the tube "Keep out of reach of children. THIS IS NOT A FOOD". In the winter months I always go through so much lipbalm as the cold weather means that we don't have as much moisture in our lips and they are liable to becoming dry and chapped. This product promotes itself as being specially formulated with AHA's, glycerin and vitamin e to help soften, moisturise and smooth lips. Liquorish and coconut AND soft moisturise lips?? Too good to be true surely? At 2.99 the lip cream itself comes in a in a small tube with a wand applicator, not dissimilar from those you get with lipgloss. The tube is clear and the cream bright white inside. The cream is not difficult as such to apply, however, neither is it as easy or practical as other lip balms like the body shop pots to apply. Firstly, the cream does not rub in very easily, I have to use it in front of a mirror else I risk walking around with cream lips. Secondly, Even when I did manage to rub the cream in I found that when it dried I was left with creamy dry bits everywhere, which were not at all attractive. The beauty of lip balms and creams for me is that I can sneakily apply a bit and not have to worry about its appearance as it sinks straight in. Unfortunately with this product it wasn't the case and I ended up using before I went to sleep at night only. Once applied and rubbed I discovered another problem, it really quite stung and made my lips feel tight and dry. I decided to keep on in the hope that it may need time to work and that it wasn't going to be the same as my trusty jar of vaseline or Kiwi Bodyshop lip balm. Howev
er, when I woke up in the morning I found that my lips were really dry and slightly sore and so had to revert back to my old lipbalms The cream certainly does smell very nice though and I have no complaints there, however, you would probably bet better off eating it than hoping it will do miracles for your lips! Alas, the smell alone is not enough to make me want to buy this again. All in all I would advise you to stick with the old favourite Vaseline a much cheaper and effective buy.
