Advantages: Good price! Good colour
Disadvantages: Need a few coats and the packaging is awful
Last Friday I was having a browse around Boots as I often do and found myself being drawn to the make up section. being a poor student I have to reserve buys of bigger names such as Loreal and Revlon for when I'm feeling naughty or the loans have come through! Instead I love a good mooch at the natural collection stand for it's bargain prices.
I've been after a tangerine, orangey coloured nail polish for absolutely ages. With summer coming and my need to become a bit brighter getting more urgant I saw Natural Collection did the exact shade I was after. They call it Antique Coral. £1.75 for a 8ml (standard size) bottle. Bargain I though! Then seeing that it was 3 for £5 I also got a clear top coat type one and gorgeous bright pink shade called Hibscus.
Later that day I decided to try out my new polish. (The coral one). I was slightly disappointed with the consistency of it as it is very runny and to my horror looks glittery when it goes on. Thank goodness the glitter fades so you hardly notice it unless you have your hand right up to your eye. I did need a good few coats. I would say at least three. However it does dry reasonably quickly and then the colour is gorgeous and strong. The brush is on the slightly small side but works well and holds a good amount of nail varnish.
It also lasts really well. That one application of a about 3 coats has lasted me a week! I'm by no means someone who does manual labour but activities in my week have included lots of essay writing(typing!), being to work four times (scanning things and using a till), 3 nights out (where I always manage to chip nail varnish ?!) and lots of sewing and tailoring.
The one negative I'd say is Natural Collection's packaging. Yes it is a cheap brand but the packaging just reinforces that. It looks cheap! It's a clear bottle in the traditional shape with a not very thick white plastic screw top lid. The brand logo also looks like a budget buy. At the end of the day though no one knows who your nail varnish is by though!
So I'm very pleased with my £1.33 buy! It's lasted well, the colour is gorgeous and it was a bargain
Summary: Well worth a try.
