You all know about my beauty product addiction, so I won't bore you with that story yet again, it's time to get straight to the point, the point being Boots Natural Collection Nail Colour.

I've never been one to buy cheap beauty products as I feel that if they sell cheap and look cheap, the quality will be cheap and in the long run, a waste of money, but whilst chilling out with my best friend the other day, I noticed that her nails were a lovely shade of purple, much deeper than my new favourite nail colour (check my Boots No7 nail polish review). I asked if she had applied the Boots No7 nail colour on top of a black base (she also has the Boots No7 nail polish) to deepen the colour, to which she replied with "no, OMG I totally forgot to tell you, Natural Collection do amaaaaaaazing nail polish, would you believe that my nails look this good for £1.95?!?!?"

So there we have it. After she told me that I had to go out and try it for myself. I didn't plan on buying the deep purple colour, but if I'm honest, it was the only colour that really drew me in.

Like most cheap products, Natural Collection products come in very simplistic packaging. This bottle of nail polish is made of clear glass and is rather small with a thin, white plastic lid. There is a clear label on the bottle with the Natural Collection logo and on the back, there is some dark coloured font with the usual information given on a nail polish bottle - this is extremely hard to read due to the deep colour of the nail polish inside.

After picking up the 'Cosmic Crush' (a deep shimmery purple) in my local Boots store, I headed to the tills to pay for everything in my basket, then quickly headed home to try out my 172nd nail polish (call me lame if you like, but after writing that I had over 150 nail polishes in a previous review, I was messaged a few times asking how many nail polishes I actually had, so there you go, 172. Give it until tomorrow and that will be 178 - yay for online shopping).

I prepared my nails ready for painting and was set to go. I opened up the bottle and noticed that the brush was rather small, but for £1.95, I can't really complain about a small brush, can I? I also noticed that the polish itself seemed rather runny and thin. All that ran through my mind was, "oh bloody hell, here we go, time to spend hours doing 300 coats of a thin nail polish just to get some colour."
Well, I was right.
The first coat left my nails with a very pale shimmery lilac colour - completely different from the colour in the bottle.
Coat number two made absolutely no change.
Coat three darkened it up a bit, but I could still see my nail underneath.
After five coats I was left with the desired colour but there was so much product on my nails (base coat, 5 coats of colour and a top coat) that it would have taken until summertime to fully dry, so I removed it straight away.
I then decided to try it over a black base. Perfect. A deep purple colour exactly like the one in the bottle after only one coat, but it really wasn't worth the hassle of painting my nails black first.

I can't make any comments on chipping or peeling as I removed it straight away and went straight back to my beloved OPI.

If you have the time to do 5 coats, or don't mind applying a black base coat to achieve the true colour, then you can go buy this nail polish for £1.95 at any Boots store. You'll find it in the Natural Collection stand/counter.

I most likely won't be buying anymore Natural Collection nail polishes as although they are cheap, you have to use nearly 3 times as much, so it would work out just the same as a higher priced nail polish.

As always, thanks for reading!

Very helpful review. Thanks for the warning. I want some of that no chip stuff that's being pushed on TV at the mo. Maybe it will save me a few bob!

I despise nail varnishes that don't cover first time or second, you end up spending hours on your nails.. xx
