Boots Natural Collection Nail Colour
Advantages: Look nice after several coats, last a few days without much chipping, cheap.
Disadvantages: Difficult to open initially, can be annoying having to apply several coats.
Nail polish is something that I have really got in to wearing over the last year or two and I am sure that is because the women I was working with always wore it and I didn't want to feel out of place. I have a whole range of different nail polishes, different colours and different brands.
I picked up three nail colours from this range for just £5.00. The usual price of one of these is £1.89 so it isn't a big saving but I like to save a bit of money and figured if they were terrible that it wasn't such a bad loss really.
The colours that I have are clear, pink manicure and what I believe is called sugar mouse which is a white pearl colour. I selected the pink manicure and clear to go together with a white tip I already owned. The sugar mouse I purchased to wear alone on days when I wasn't looking for a vibrant colour to finish off an outfit and instead just wanted eye catching nails that could go with any outfit regardless of colour.
This nail polish comes in a small glass bottle, like many others, and the brush for applying the polish is built in to the white lid. The lid is quite difficult to open and it really needs a firm twist to get it open. On the first time I used each of these bottles I had to ask my husband to open them for me as I just couldn't do it. The bottle has a flower and 'Natural Collection' on the front with the shade of the polish on the bottom of the bottle. This packaging is functional but is nothing special of eye catching when displayed in Boots.
I apply a base coat to my nails before adding a colour as I find that it helps the colour stay in place and it also protects my nails against damage. These nail polishes are quite thin generally and I have found this with all 3 colours that I have used from this range. This isn't too much of an issue though as I find that the colours spread on to my nails quite easily and in a clean manner. I have found that a minimum of two coats is required, 3 coats with the pink manicure, to get the thickness and spread that I like with nail polish. These polishes dry on my nails within 5 minutes and I am able to proceed with applying the next coat meaning that overall while it is a bit annoying having to re-apply coats of this I don't spend long waiting for each coat to dry.
My nails look lovely and shimmery and healthy after applying two or three coats of this nail polish and it lasts for at least two or three days before it starts to chip usually. I'm pleased enough with the results that I get from using these polishes and I would say that I have had them for around six months with one or two of them getting used each month and I've had no problems with them drying out or becoming unusable. I think that lasting two or three days is about usual for me and it is rare that I have a nail polish that lasts longer than this.
When it comes to removing this nail polish I have been using a Boujois instant remover lately where you put your finger in to a pot with a sponge in, twist it and it comes out clean. This works great with this nail polish and it takes me just a few seconds on each finger to remove the colour. I do believe that having a base coat helps me remove this polish quicker too which is why I continue to use one.
Overall it is fair to say that I am really pleased with the quality of the nail colours in the range that I have used. They are all quite thin, and therefore need more than one coat, but they all give me a nice sheen to my nails and come off simply once I have decided to re-apply or change colour. I do not find that this chips any more or less than any other nail polish that I have used and that is why I am giving this 3/5. I will definitely continue to use these nail colours but I don't think I would actively seek them out again to buy as some of the colours are boring and I need to apply several coats of each colour to get the result I want.
Summary: A reasonable group of nail polishes from Boots.
