Boots No7 High Shine Lip Gloss
Advantages: luxury lip gloss has SPF and lots of lip friendly ingredients
Disadvantages: the colour I have is not really something I'd wear every day.
I was bought a selection of number seven products for my birthday from a friend in April this year. When I first opened the present, I was not so sure what to make of this product.
This is a lip gloss, available in 6 shades from boots, where 8ml of product will currently cost you £4.50. The shades available are glaze, smile, hint, lust, whisper, and happy. These range in colour from the almost red to the very pale pink hint. The shade I have is whisper, which to me is a peachy pink shade.
I do like wearing pink colours on my lips, but as my colouring is quite dark, I can't get away with all pinks. I tend to be better with the darker ones. So I was not sure what this one would be like for me, and I don't think I would have picked it for myself in a million years if I were buying it.
When it came to using it, I think this is really more of a 'going out' type lip gloss rather than one to wear on the school run for example. I find it has a bit too much sparkle to it for me to feel confident dealing with school runs wearing it.
The tube is nicely contoured so it is a little thinner where the tube meets the lid. The tube is clear so you can see the product, and the lid is silver, so I think it looks quite classy. The countouring means it is really easy to open the tube compared to a straight one.
Inside the lid is attached a wand with a small applicator sponge. Other lip glosses I own have larger sponges, and this is a little better for applying quickly to the lips, but I found it was nice and soft and did apply the product well even if I felt it took a little longer to get an even looking coat, though I am sure some of this is because this shade is a little light for me.
The smell of this product is quite fruity, and I find that the taste is a little sweet and not unpleasant in the slightest.
The product does not really have much staying power on the lips, and when I am wearing it I find that I need to regularly reapply especially after eating and drinking. I'd expect this from any lip gloss to be honest though. However, my lips still have a bit of sheen and sparkle to them and feel like I have soft lips.
This is more of a luxury lip gloss than I normally treat myself too. It has SPF 15 in it for daytime wear, light reflecting pearls, special glossing agent and collagen boosting ingredients, and contains Provitamin B5 and vitamin E which are known for smoothing skin.
While wearing the colour, I liked it a lot more than in the tube. I still think one of the other colours might suit me better. However, it was really nice to wear, I felt nice wearing it, and it was a thoughtful gift from my friend. It is a way of making myself look a bit more glamourous quickly, and it is a modern look. I think I would want to have a look at these in store at Boots rather than the online pictures of the colour as I find the one I have is definitely more pink looking on screen than in real life.
I think I know what my next £5 off No 7 products might go towards.
Summary: A slick of lip gloss, and I'm good to go.
