Advantages: Light and fresh
Disadvantages: Not strong enough for deep blemishes
I've never been big on plastering my face with make-up, especially liquid foundation as I find that a) it negatively affects the condition of my skin and b) can leave me looking worse by the end of the day/night than if I'd not put any on, especially if I've been drinking and have got dehydrated. However, on very special occasions or if I'm looking particularly pale/spotty, I might reach for a bottle of foundation. For the above reasons and because it's too easy to end up with a yellowy/orangey skin tone, I decided to splash out on what I hoped was a decent product.
I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed. The foundation is easy to apply, like a thin moisturiser. The first time I put it on, I wasn't even sure there would be any difference to the look of my skin as it is so light. However, once it's applied and you take a step back, it's obvious that your skin tone has been considerably evened out. If my skin is more blemished than usual I might apply a second coat, and that does the trick for anything not covered the first time. I love the result as it gives me a natural, fresh-faced look without it being obvious that I've even got foundation on.
The claim made by the 'Intelligent' brand is that the foundation is adaptable to different skin tones (although I don't know if this also applies to non-white skin colours), so that it will enhance your tone as it is rather than cover it with a standard shade. I understand this to mean that the foundation is basically translucent, and so doesn't colour the skin. Otherwise, I'm not sure how the 'Intelligent' feature works.
Another plus with this product is that it contains SPF 6, so at least you're getting a little protection from the sun if you wear it during the day.
Much as I like this product, I have to admit that it only has average staying power - after 4-5 hours it's difficult to see that it was ever there. Also it might not give enough coverage if you have a lot of blemishes.
Despite these minor grumbles I'm very pleased with this product. At around £13, it's more than I would normally pay for a single item of make-up, but since it lasts me for ages and is so much kinder on my skin than other foundations, it's definitely worth the investment.
Summary: Very nice foundation
