Boots No 7 skin illuminator
I own a large range of Boots No 7 products and I love when they do the three for two promotions, I get a little bit too giddy and spend far too many pennies on things that I don't even remotely need. The Boots No 7 skin illuminator was one such impulse purchase.
It comes in a choice of two shades; peach and pink. Best to get the lady to try some on you before you buy, initially I thought I would need the pinky colour being quite fair in complexion, but after trying those both out the peach suited me much better. With make-up I find that it is always best to test the shades out on your skin, it is recommended by make-up professionals that along the jaw line is a great place.
--Tips for application--
It does come with an inbuilt brush but it isn't really any good and is a bit harsh on your face. It's also a bit of a pain because you need to wash and clean it regularly to keep it all hygienic, especially if you let other people use it. I also find trying to get the correct amount out is near impossible, because you have to squeeze it through the brush it is difficult to say the least to get a small amount out. I am forever wasting some of it because simply too much has been expelled. When you've finally got the amount you want ignore the brush and apply with your fingers, with the brush it is hard to get it smoothed in correctly and evenly.
The 30ml tube is priced at £10.50 as I mentioned at the start I bought this as part of Boot's three for two offer, which they have on a fairly regular basis. I don't think I would buy this one again and really seeing how it works I think there are probably better skin brighteners out there for that price.
--My overall opinion on this one--
The packaging says it is a 'Perfect skin-brightening solution for every skin tone'...hmm I'm not convinced. It does provide a healthy glow to your skin but it doesn't work wonders. Overall, I like the product. I hate the packaging. The skin illuminator is great to put on with a little blusher and nothing else if you are running out the door, or if you don't want to wear too much make-up when we get a sunny day or two.
I am going to award Boots No7 skin illuminator three out of five stars. This product does a pretty average job but I would hesitate in recommending it to other people. For the price you are going to pay for this I would recommend shopping around and seeing what else is available. I will use the rest of mine but after it is done I won't be a repeat customer for this specific product. It still has in no way put me off the No7 range, just a shame the skin illuminator didn't live up to my expectations.
Summary: Overall it does what it sets out to do but not much else, a pretty average product.
