Advantages: Great Price, long lasting, natural colour

Disadvantages: None

I've always been quite a big fan of Benefit's highbeam, I've always used medium to full coverage foundations and I think adding something like this as a highlighter makes my skin look more like skin instead of skin with foundation on top. I've always been very happy with the way high beam performs, it blends nicely and doesn't cause any skin issues which is great but the tiny little bottle and the nail polish type brush applicator has always bugged me a bit.

Last time I ran out of highbeam I decided to try Boot's No 7 skin illuminator in pink instead, which is a 'radiance boosting beauty fluid with tiny iridescent particles that shimmer in the light'. It's supposed to add subtle highlights and leave skin with a healthy looking glow. I decided to give this one a go because you get 30ml instead of 7ml and also because No 7's is £10.50 and Benefit's is £17.50.

Well after using both I have to say that I really don't see much of a difference in the two. Once blended the colours are very similar, I would say that high beam maybe has a bit more shimmer to it and is maybe a touch more pink but the differences are really subtle. Texture is similar too, I do feel as though high beam dries quicker and feels a bit fresher on my skin but again they both feel very similar when they dry.The only major difference between the two is price and size, Boot's illuminate is huge compared to high beam. I've even been using illuminate mixed in with a bit of moisturiser on legs and arms which works really well.

Summary: A great highlighter
