Boots no 7 compact foundation

I tend to try out quite a few foundations and make up products and no 7 is one of the ranges I favour as I generally find they suit my skin and are of good quality.

THE PROMISES...
this promises to give a lightweight and flawless finish which will last all day and which won't block pores. It apparently has soft focus pigments whatever they are for a natural finish. The product has Pro Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E to care for skin and is SPF 15 which I find is always a bonus to protect my skin.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...

The foundation packaged inside the usual box with all of the information and instructions for use on the back of the box. Inside is what looks like a compact but a bit larger and thicker than the ones I have seen before. It's quits an attractive little case, black with gold trim and certainly doesn't look unpleasant in my make up bag. When I open up the lid the first thing I find is a thick sponge obviously for the application of the product and when I remove this I have to lift a plastic lid to get to the foundation. This as the name suggests looks like a foundation in compact form. I am used to liquid foundations so this is much dryer ( obviously) but this must be the cream to powder finish it promises.
I have used this colour in other no 7 products so although it looks a bit light than the liquid products I wasn't expecting any issues.

USING THE FOUNDATION...

the product should be dabbed on areas where it is most needed and the. Blended in using the fingertips or the sponge. Immediately I found the sponge too thick to be good for blending and so resorted to using my fingers. Easier said than done since its a thick and almost chalky product which didn't seem to blend especially easily.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...

This is available in six shades and given that I didn't have a tan when I bought it I bought the blonde figuring I'd rather look slightly pale than have a tan that finishes at my neck.
It costs £14 and is available from boots stores and also online at www.boots.com.

VERDICT...

I did find this foundation difficult to apply and it's certainly one which I imagine takes time and practice to apply effectively. Once it's on it is lighter than I expected and I found I needed some extra colour. It does go nicely from a cream to a powder and gives a good , matte finish although for me it was a bit too thick for everyday use. The fact that it was dryer than liquid foundations meant it has more staying power but because of this it does take more care to make sure all of the product is removed when I. Remove my make up.

I won't be throwing it away but feel its more suited for using on a night out. However, it's not my product of choice and when it's finished I will go back to my usual foundation.
