Boots No7 Stay Perfect Foundation
Advantages: good range of shades
Disadvantages: didn't work for me
When it comes to make up, I tend to wear it only occasionally so I don't mind spending a lot on it as it lasts me a long time. Last winter I found that I was looking a bit pale and wanted a foundation that was quick to apply, natural looking and not going to break the bank as it was more to use as an everyday one.
This foundation is a No7 product so it is therefore exclusive to Boots. When I bought it, No7 products were on 3 for 2. The foundation retails at £14 so I picked up this, and got a bottle each for my two daughters. When bought on 3 for 2 this means they are under £10 each for a 30ml bottle which is reasonable.....if the foundation works for you.
The bottle is transparent glass so you can see how much you have left when it is stood upright, although mine gets tossed around in a make up bag so I can never tell. There is a black plastic lid and a white pump which is easy to pump out the amount of product you require. There is a plastic gold ring around the pump which you can remove to take out the pump.
One of my daughters found the black plastic lid would come off in her handbag and make a real mess but I didn't have this issue as I wouldn't carry the foundation around with me.
The foundation is also SPF 15 which is an added bonus, is is available in the following shades:
6 Deeply Honey
8 Cool Rose
19 Soft Rose
23 Deeply Beige
26 Cool Beige
29 Warm Beige
36 Cool Ivory
37 Deeply Ivory
38 Warm Ivory
40 Cool Vanilla
So there is something for all skin tones....or so you would think. I opted for the soft rose shade and found it very visible on my skin, I tried different methods of application with my hands and sponges and each time it looked like I had smeared a paste all over my skin, it didn't blend into the skin well at all. I managed to use it up by blending it with moisturiser and using a powder over the top but I wasn't in a rush to try it again. It didn't have the natural look I was looking for, I found the product quite runny which meant it went far and the cent was good but I wasn't impressed with it overall.
My daughters both got one of the beige shades (although I can't remember which exactly) and with one of them it looked good but she found it didn't 'stay perfect' for long and did have to reapply through the day,
The other daughter just found it didn't offer any kind of coverage for her skin and, like me, the product just wouldn't rub in and just caked on her face.
The foundation was easily removed with soap and water or with a face wipe, if it lasted long enough to need removing that is!
The product is hypoallergenic so none of us suffered any discomfort or irritation when using it, it just wasn't as good as we had hoped. I think there are plenty of alternatives available in this price range which are superior to this product and I won't be getting it again.
No7 do have an Intelligent Colour foundation which I now use and find fantastic, so I would recommend the brand, just not this product in particular.
