Back to trusted old No7 I do love their range and quality of make up, now and then they have special offers like three for two and free gifts when purchasing a No7 item. This review is about the free gift I received when I purchased the Boots No 7 Exceptional Definition Mascara; which so far I think has been there best give away yet.

Boots No7 Define and Shimmer Eye Palette:
'Define and sculpt your eyes with this stunning selection of shimmering eye shadows'

My Findings:

I do love free gift's especially ones as good as this one; within this palette you get four colours which are all colours I use. It all comes in one compact when you open your met with the four eye shadows (compressed powder style), a mirror which is the full length of the compact and a double ended brush. The brush personally I'm not too fond with, which is just down to personal preference and I prefer to have a sponge end.

The colours within the set are plum, chocolate, gold and beige which all give you a shimmer finish once applied to the eyes. I always like to test what an eye shadow is like so at first I apply without an eye primer, and in this case they all had great staying power. The gold and chocolate seem to fade during the day a little sooner than the beige and plum but still great.

They have a smooth cream like feel to touch and glide on with ease either way if you're using your finger or a brush. Another thing I like about these eye shadows is that they blend in well with other colours, for my natural looking days I smooth the beige onto my eyes from eyelash to eyebrow. Then I use the chocolate at the bottom for just half the eye lid. I only use a small amount of chocolate then blend up which gives off a light chocolate brown shimmer.

Like I do with most of my eye shadows if I want a deeper effect I apply using a moist brush which intensifies the colour, and this doesn't alter the quality or damage the eye shadow in anyway. You can use this with out an eye primer and you will still have a good longevity, but if you're off on a night out clubbing where you may become hot I would recommend a primer to give it some extra protection.

My favourite colour from the set is plum and it looks truly gorgeous on and really brings out the green in my eyes, I love how the colour shimmers within the light; for a free gift the results are amazing! If you want your colour dark/deeper don't keep adding more of the product as this causes creases on your eyes from the eye shadow (talking from experience) just use a moist brush!

To remove the eye shadow from your eyes like with most eye shadows a simple wipe will do, however the golden colour sometime leaves little golden bits so an extra wipe is needed just to remove the remainder.

As the compact is not very big, if you do need a top up for whatever reason it will easily fit within your bag. Plus the mirror and brush already comes within the set so its great to travel with.

Overall:

Almost five month on and I'm still using this set all the colours have large dents now due to a lot of use but have stayed compact. The colours stay bright and last on your eyes well during the day, bonus for me as it was a free gift but when this one runs one I would certainly purchase one at full asking price no questions asked.

If you do like the colours within the set then I recommend you give this palette a try, I promise it will not let you down.
