Advantages: Can be purchased during an offer period, saving you money

Disadvantages: Doesn't do much at all

Mascaras are the one thing I cannot be without in my make up bag and I refuse to leave the house without it as my natural eyelashes really don't look great to say the least. Finding the perfect mascara that is able to achieve everything I am wanting is something I am yet to come across such a product! Because of this I often result to wearing false eyelashes, which I don't particularly like all that much however having been unable to find a mascara that properly does the trick, it is my only alternative! I tend to buy any new products I come across in the hope they will end my search, why is how I came across this mascara by No7...

I have never been a massive fan of No7 products if I'm honest, although I can't say I have tried many (I can say their nail varnishes are pretty good!) simply because the prices always seem too high and while I don't mind paying the price for a quality make up product, when they are in theory a Boots own brand product but just with a bit of glorification I really can't justify spending that amount. However in saying that, I have made the odd purchase from time to time during periods when they have offers on as it makes me feel as though I am getting a bargain, but in hindsight I don't really think I ever was getting much of a bargain! It was their 3 for 2 offer that initially attracted me as I felt I would be getting more of my moneys worth. I ended up buying this mascara after being drawn to the name which seemed to be the answer to all my problems.

At £13 this is edging towards the more premium priced end in terms of mascaras in general so I was excepting somewhat exceptional quality. To look at it hasn't been designed in the most attractive way in the least as the bottle itself is pretty plain with nothing particularly original about it. The colour is quite interesting with a grey/purple sort of tint to it which is quite unusual. It has No7 logo and the product name with other information i.e shelf life around the bottle in white which isn't the easiest to read but its not impossible. The wand has quite separated bristles which is nice compared to others I have tried recently which are all bunched together, often making it difficult to separate the lashes during application. It doesn't have a particular scent and it doesn't smell very perfumed to me, just quite neutral.

When it came to application I removed the wand from the bottle as I would with any other mascara, noticing that it seemed to have a good, fairly thick and even coverage of mascara on it so I was hoping this would transfer to my eyelashes. I used a zig zag type action with the wand as I often find this gives my lashes maximum coverage and I thought this would work particularly well considered the wand itself has a curved shape to it so I was anticipating long, volumised lashes with a curl that looked as if it had been created with eyelashes curlers. Instead, I was greeted by my lashes not looking much different to how they had looked before I applied any mascara at all in terms of length, but a very slight curve had been created and I only noticed it due to my lashes usually being poker straight. In no way at all was this the result I was expecting. After giving it the benefit of the doubt I applied some more coats of the product onto my eyelashes, thinking this would elaborate and enhance the earlier results. Instead my eyelashes felt really wet and took sometime to dry - but they looked very familiar still to how they had looked earlier.

While my eyelashes did have a very slight curve in them, it was barely noticeable and not the 'exquisite curl' I had been hoping it. The look was very natural and not at all what I was expecting from the product as I was seeking a much more dramatic finish that this claims to offer. If you are someone who is looking for a natural every day look with a product that will very slightly enhance your natural traits then this will not disappoint you, but when it comes to a night out you might find this is what you want. I certainly would not use this product by itself to create either a day or night time look as it doesn't do anywhere near enough for me as even during the day I like my eyelashes to look volumised and defined. It certainly does not deliver on what it is marketing as the curl (you can't even call it a curl!) is only just about visible upon close inspection.

Overall I feel this is a waste of money as I was expecting much more for a premium price tagged product however it failed to create the look I was expecting. The natural look isn't what I was wanting and I definitely would not recommend this to anyone who is looking for something similar to myself and something a little bit out of the ordinary as lets face it, any mascara can create a reasonable day time look - this is nothing special at all and I can safely say I won't be buying it again.

Summary: Nothing special to say the least
