Advantages: Everything.

Disadvantages: Packaging looks nice but gets marked easily.

As most people who read my cosmetic reviews will know by now I have an infatuation with a youthful glow. Maybe it's cos I don't actually, naturally possess one and am a fan of faking it! As I'm 33 I don't want a 'glitter' Barbie doll look, I want a slight shimmery, dewy, iridescent glow which looks healthy and not caked on my face. I've already tried numerous products to achieve this some with rubbish results and I trashed them in my bin and some products which I buy and re buy often.

I'm a huge fan of No7 and love their Illuminating Lotion under my foundation so when I saw this that goes over the top of my make up I thought maybe it would be better and still subtle but more 'there' if you get me lol

The problem with the Illuminating lotion is first I put moisturiser on, then I put my green colour corrector on to stop me looking like a tomato, then concealer then the illuminating lotion, then the foundation and by the end of it all I can end up feeling like Im wearing a mask! So this seems an ideal solution.

What The Product Promises....

No7 High Lights Illuminating Powders are available in 3 shades to make the beautiful best of your Autumn skin tone.

Presented in irresistible packaging, the powders glide on with the dinky brush provided to give your skin an instant lift. They also contain skin moisturising vitamin E leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.

The Packaging....

The pot that I own isn't as shown on the review photograph. Mine is the shade 'Star Lights' and it comes in a brownish/red slightly shimmery recyclable cardboard round tub. The lid presses securely on the base and as usual the product has the obligatory gold writing on the front telling me it is indeed No7 and that it is Highlights Illuminating Powder. On the base tells me how to use it and the ingredients. Inside is my product sat on a round silver tray type things with a good quality and sized blusher brush. My powder is a very light brown, shimmery powder that looks really pretty.

My main gripe with this product is the packaging. Being cardboard if you do get it a bit wet it can go soggy and it marks easily and gets scuffed particulary if you use it often as the sliding of the lid off and on damages the pot.

To Use....

Lightly sweep across the tops of your cheeks and nose to take your complexion from dull to dewy in an instant.

Verdict....

This is a high quality highlighter. It's instant brush on radiance and I love it. I personally wouldn't use it on its own cos I have a greasy t zone and this would highlight all my imperfections. I use this as the last product on my face and over my pressed powder. I apply it to where I want a little shimmer and the main thing 'definition'.

I can't go wrong with this product and believe me that's saying something. It's a lovely subtle colour and you can't use to much and I'm really pale saying that. I can apply it without even using a mirror! My preferred use for it is to highlight my none existent cheekbones over the top of my blusher. It's very versatile and you can top up if you wish not that you actually need to it lasts on the skin for hours until you remove it and it doesnt transfer off your face or body it stays put and if you do accidently get any on your clothes it washes off easy.

For a subtle glow put it under your pressed powder for a more apparent glow over the top. If you do need to apply some pressed powder because skin needs blotting and your already wearing this it's fine to put over the top it goes over easy and you can reapply. It looks lovely dusted over the shoulders and down the decolletage. Not only does it look nice it's very smooth and skin softening where applied.

It really is a versatile bit of kit. I like with a little eyeshadow brush to dot just under my brow-bone to make my eyes look bigger and I've even used it as eyeshadow. Being hypo allergenic it doesn't upset my skin in any way shape or form. It's not messy as its a hardish compact, it doesn't drop pieces of glitter anywhere although it does contains the tiniest well blended little pieces and it last ages in the container and on the face.

Ingredients....

Talc, Mica, Calcuim Stearate, Dimethicone, Parraffinium Liquidium, PTFE, Methicone, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate.

I'm a huge fan of this and highly recommend you test it at Boots to see what you think. 3 shades are available and the Boots reps know there stuff!

Island Glow, Perky Peach, Dandy Pink and mine is a special 'star lights (05), limited time only.

great review!! I use something similar and i have gresy T zone. I find that if i want to wear it without foundation that it looks ok. I find that it goes nicely on my cheeks!
