Advantages: lovely glow to skin
Disadvantages: expensive
I got a tub of No.7 illuminating powder free a few weeks ago with a voucher I had. I have tried lots of No.7 products and overall I quite like them, but I'm not really sure if I would have actually bought this if I hadn't had the voucher, because I already use a highlighter stick which I'm happy with, and I tend to find with my dry skin, powders go cakey.
~About the Product~
This is a powder designed to give your skin a bit of a glow and lift your skin tone- basically just make your complexion a bit more radiant, which is something I could do with! The product comes in three different shades, which are Island Glow (on Boots website it looks quite a yellowish tone, but in the shop it looked to me as if it was for quite dark skin tones -could have been the light though!), Perky Peach and Dandy Pink. I bought Perky Peach, which is a quite dark peach- I would say it is actually more pink than it is peach. The powder also contains vitamin E which they say will leave your skin silky soft.
~Packaging~
This comes in a little cardboard tub, and when you remove the lid, ther is a round, flat brush inside to apply the product with, underneath is the product itself, which is pressed powder and not loose powder as I had expected. Most of the time when you get a brush or applicator supplied with a product, they're usually so small that they are not really any use - this wasn't the case here, as the brush is quite a good size, and I have been using it instead of my normal blusher brush.
~Application~
To apply you simply sweep the brush through the powder and then sweep across your face. I find that depending on how much pressure you put on the brush as you sweep it through the powder, you may need to tap some excess off back into the tub.
Although I was saying I liked the brush they have supplied, the first few times I used it, it did moult a bit onto my face, so I had little black hairs dotted about from the brush!
The powder is very light, and you can hardly feel that you are wearing it.
~Results~
Given the fairly strong colour of the product in the tub, I was expecting it to give a similar effect to blusher, but the powder is actually very sheer and whilst it does give some colour, it is surprisingly sheer. The powder contains tiny shimmery particles, which give the skin a luminous glow, and a bit of a lift. The powder is quite subtle though - don't be put off by the thought of brushing shimmer over your face, the result is a subtle glow, you won't look like something you hang on the Christmas tree!
~Price~
As I mentioned already at the beginning of the review, I got mine free, but the full price is £10.25. Although it's a good product, I don't use these types of things enough to justify spending that amount of money.
~Overall Verdict~
This was a great freebie and is a good quality product, which gives my skin a nice, subtle pick-me-up. I think it's quite pricey, and can't actually see myself buying it at full price, so I'm going to mark it down for that, but otherwise a great product.
