“ Brand: Boots / Type: Lipstick / Subcategory: Lip Colour / Suitable for: Lip „
When it comes to lipsticks and lip-glosses I really could open a shop of my own! I like a variety of different colours and formulations at my disposal. I also only like decent big brands and don't use cheap stuff on my face (as a rule) and believe if you want nice results then you need to pay (usually a little bit more) for them.
The brand that is Boots No7 I really do like. Ok I hate all the mascara's I've tried from within the range and think the lip-glosses are really awful but other than that I love the rest of the range. I like the fact that although the range of products isn't dirt cheap they aren't that highly priced for the usual decent packaging and product itself.
This product I came across cost me £6.50 a couple of months back and I haven't seen it stocked at Boots since. However it does come out on sale for special occasions, within some No7 gift sets and is of course available online I.E Ebay etc.
24ml round black plastic flip top compact with No7 written on the front in gold writing. On the bottom there is a black sticky label that tells me the colour (in my case 05 Lavish) and I'm told it is Matte Velvet Lip Color and that it is hypo-allergenic. I'm then told a bit about the product, contact details for Boots are given and finally the size is stated (as I've listed for you already). The compact lifts open and the top is a proper glass mirror and the base is your chosen colour integrated within a pot.
A Bit About The Product (According To The Compact)....
A new take on matte, this creamy colour goes on smoothly and leaves lips feeling soft and velvety. The mini, mirrored compact is perfect for on the go touch-ups. Apply with fingers or with a lip brush for a more precise application.
Well as I have said the compact opens up easily but once it's closed it is really secure. It looks nice too and even thrown about in a handbag it doesn't get damaged and the lettering doesn't come off (in my experience) so it keeps nice.
First impressions do count and I do of course like the mirror but can't believe there is no small brush given. To be fair there isn't room to put one in this existing compact but it just seems silly to have to take one especially out and lets face it ladies who wants one in the bottom of our designer numbers mixing with bits of fluff an that? So that to me is a design floor and I always end up applying it with my finger as I never remember to take a brush out with me lol
To use it is easy enough. The colour in the compact is very smooth and moist. It isn't wet, runny or gloppy and when you do use it you kind of smear the colour over fingertips and then apply it (or you can use a brush of course!). It's simple to apply and it stains the lips giving even coverage with the colour you have chosen and it is matte and very smooth.
Lasting wise I'd say I get about 3 hours colour on my lips with eating and drinking and after that time the colour simply wears off without crumbling or fading it simply is ready to be reapplied.
All In All....
Fingers get flipping stained using it so using a brush is advised as well as that you get a more defined look with that method of course. It's light on the lips and doesn't cake and in my view brilliant for women who don't like the feel of conventional lipsticks. It's not dry and sticky but light and none existent and none transfer too. It's just a good reliable lippie ladies!
