Advantages: Easy to apply.

Disadvantages: Not very long lasting and is heavy on the lips

I have odd shaped lips! I possess a full, pouty bottom lip and then a squidge of a top lip with no bow to it what so ever! The solution? Lip pencil, of course!

Yep with the right pencil I can draw the lips I've always dreamt of and fill in with them in with a colour. However there is a drawback to this. Use the wrong lip liner and if it's not a good one you can end up with some wearing off and the game is given away. So this is one area that yet again I spend a few extra pennies on to get something I can rely upon in times of need.

I tend not to like the one's I have to sharpen very much. Biggest issue? I never have a fully functional pencil sharpener around when I need one! It's hard to get them not too sharp cos if you do that the look can look very severe. If it's too blunt then you can't get the fight definition.

Also these types of pencils can dry out and at worst you get a crumbly look on the lip mixed with bits of wooden sharpenings! So these I tend to say away from where ever possible.

I first got one of these in a kit and have since got a couple of others when I've had £5.00 off coupons so I haven't spent to much on things I really don't need as I own loads of No7 makeup already and I am a fan!

The Packaging....

Long plastic looking pencil which is the same colour on the outside as the colour you have purchased with a very long matching lid. In gold writing on the side I'm told it is indeed No7, Perfect Lips Pencil and then the number of the shade is printed as well, in my case number 20 and the colour again, in my case Nude. Then I am told in small writing 'Soft and smooth moisturising pencil for ultimate lip definition. Sharpener incuded to help maintain a perfect point'. Hypo allergenic and then I'm told its a Boot's own product and given the website address (www.boots.com).

Verdict....

Well to use the product the whole of the bottom section gently twists till you get some of the hard, thin stick out and then you shape the outside of your lips with it.

Now as I just stated this product says it sharpens itself. I can't see how and I do disagree that it does as mine never has (none of them). The tip is fairly blunt but this isn't a complaint it's just not sharp or pointy and you have to make do with a bit of a bluntness but it doesn't stop it working or anything.

Now applying it is easy. The 'stick' is slightly moist. It glides on, is none dragging and none fragranced with no taste to it at all. I find it really easy to apply however...

Once on it stays put for about 2 hours till it wears off. It does prevent 'bleeding' of lipstick and glosses therefore not making any little lines around your mouth more prominent but I find it really annoying.

Yes it's quick drying with little tranfer (it does a little) but I find it too dry and too heavy on the outline of my lips for some reason. I can tell it's there and I don't like how it feels at all, simply it's too dry and I don't find it moisturising or particulay pleasant. Don't get me wrong it does the job ok, and is none crumbly or flaky but I just feel slightly uncomfortable with it on.

It doesn't stay on as long as I would like but you can put on as much as you like without a problem in application but the more you apply the heavier your lips get but it does look nice but it goes on quite thickly.

I have tried to use this as a lipstick as I liked the shade so much and then put lip gloss over but it looked really caked on and far too thick so if your going to use this only use this as it's meant for, a lip liner!

Overall....

It's ok and it's nicely packaged. It's not awful or anything and not that expensive and there is loads of product which lasts months on a daily basis ad it never dries out. On the upside this product fades completely and not patchy and is simple to apply but I would't say it's the best out there and unless on offer in Boot's I wouldn't deliberetly repurchase this.

On a negative there are only 4 colours available however if you find a favourite colour you can keep repurchasing it as the colours are rarely changed! I've been using the same colour past 3 years now!

Colours Available....

Caramel
Melon
Nude
Plum

£6.75 each only in Boot's

Summary: Doubt it would be anyone's first choice!
