Over the years, I have tried and tested many different eyeliners and although I normally purchase pencils, a year or so ago, I decided to try a liner instead.
The eyeliner comes in a small tube, similar to that of a sample sized mascara, the bottle is see-through so you get a good idea of the true colour of the liner and to the front of the bottle is the product name and brand. The bottle is topped with a black lid that screws off and the brush if attached to the underside of this.
Although I always wear black, this eyeliner is available in several different shades of brown, purples and blues (which are great if you are a bit more daring than I am!). I think when I purchased, it cost around £9 but now it retails for £7.50 (I think quite a few of their products have dropped in price over the last year) and is only available from Boots, both in store and online. Although £7.50 may be a little on the steep side, what I love about the No 7 range is that it always seems to be on offer, whether that be 3 for 2, free gift with a certain spend or buy one get one half price which is currently running. I also like that when I spend in Boots, I always seem to be given a £5 off No & voucher.
Applying the eye liner is really easy; the brush is slim meaning I can easily control exactly where I want to apply. I can also apply a nice thin line and thicken up which I like as especially for work, I don't want a too dramatic look. As I chose black, there isn't too much to get excited about, but I will say that the pigmentation is really good and the colour is jet black.
The liner is excellent at staying put, one applied, it dries really quickly and by the end of the day, it hasn't smudged or worn away. This does however present a little problem as I find at the end of the day, this is quite hard to remove and I do need to apply quite a lot of makeup remover to clean my eye properly.
I don't think I will repurchase, just because I prefer pencils and I like to smudge and make more subtle lines however overall, this is a good eyeliner and therefore I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading
I have the Boot's No.7 liquid eyeliner in Jewel (see photo on DooYoo) and in a Bronze colour, both of which came with free "Gift with Purchase" bags from No.7 when they have an offer on so they are not full size but are still the same product. The price of a full liquid liner is usually £8.75 for 4ml (currently half price) and the product is only available in Boot's as it is their own in-house brand of cosmetic.
I am a fan of liquid eyeliner because it tends to stay on the eyelid much more effectively than an eye pencil but often only wear black if it is for going out as it can be quite bold. The peacock blue and bronze liquid liners which came free are really nice alternatives and look brilliant particularly in the summer with a nice tan. The brush that you apply the liner with is actually quite flimsy and is made out of long-ish bristles rather than being stubby and hard which is what most liquid liners are like so that you can get a really neat line close to your lashes. The length of the bristles does cause some problems mainly because it is hard to get a neat line when you are wondering if all the bristles are dragging at the same pace across the eyelid. From this perspective it will have to drop by one star for me.
The liner is definitely long-lasting but almost too good in some cases and absolutely has to be removed with an oil-based makeup remover or you'll be wearing it for a week (like I was the first time I used it!). Simple cream-based cleansers will not remove it. Even with an oil based remover it is quite hard to get all of the colour away from the lashes as bits of colour get stuck in between the lashes and if it was black it wouldn't look bad but because it is bright blue or bronze it can take a while with a cotton bud to get it out of the lashes to avoid it looking silly. So for me although it is long-lasting it is also slightly irritating so I'll drop another star for that.
Overall, the colour doesn't fail but it can be a bit tricky to get the colour both on and off the eye lid so apart from the fact I got these free, I can't really recommend them and wouldn't buy them out of choice myself. The MAC liquid liner is far superior and at £8.75 for the No.7 liner, you might as well spend slightly more and get a decent liner. The one positive is that the colours I have it in are really pretty and hats off to No7 for doing something a bit different that black, navy, brown and grey.
I tend to think that No7 products can be a bit expensive, but Boots are always giving out those No7 £5 vouchers, so when this happens I treat myself to something new. I am a big wearer of eyeliner, but have always found liquid eyeliners difficult to apply. I thought I'd try again though with a good quality brand, I figured it might have a better designed brush or something which would make it easier to apply...and I was right!
The eyeliner itself comes in a small clear tube revealing the colour of the eyeliner inside, with a black lid which screws off. It is nice and small, so it can easily be fitted into your makeup bag or handbag. The brush itself is small and thin, which makes it easier to apply it neatly and with precision.
This eyeliner was very easy to apply, alot easier than any other brands that I have tried. The thin brush allows for precise application. The liquid liner itself isnt too thick or gloopy and dries quickly after application. It really is as bright as it is on the pot aswell, and is very long lasting and durable. I have had liquid liners in the past that have crumbled and flaked on my eyelids, but this one stays put and looks neat and smooth.
It is however, very difficult to remove, it is called 'stay perfect eyeline' and it really is just that. It takes alot of rubbing with make-up remover or face wipes to get it to come off which can leave your eyes feeling quite itchy and sore afterwards, especially if you have sensitive skin around your eyes. This however is my only criticism of this product, although it has resulted in me not wearing it too regularly as my eyes cant take the scrubbing assault afterwards.
You can only get this eyeline from boots and it retails for around £9, as I said earlier I wouldnt normally buy this as it is alot of money (to me anyway) for just an eyeliner, however if you wait until boots are giving out those No7 £5 vouchers at the counter than I would definitely recommend purchasing one of these.
I purchased this product a while back when I had a £5 off voucher to use against No 7 products. You may or may not know from previous reviews that I have written that I am not a huge fan of liquid eye liner as I find that they can get messy. However I do like glitter liquid liners so thought I would give this one a go to add a more dramatic look to my eyes.
**What do Boots say?**
"No 7 stay perfect eyeliner- dazzling, liquid colour with amazing staying power".
The eye liner itself comes in a small thin tube with the screw top lid which comes off to reveal the brush.
I like the bottle as it is nice and small and compact so you can easily find a space for it if you want to take it out with you.
The handle of the brush is off a good size to hold and apply the liner steadily. The actual brush is very small and very thin to allow precision when applying the liner. I have found that this makes applying very easy and not at all messy.
As I have just mentioned I found that I could apply the eye liner with ease thanks to the well designed brush.
The colour I chose was 'Jewel' which is a vibrant turquoise colour. I have to say that I thought it would be a bit vibrant when I saw it in the tube but on my eyes I was not expecting much of an impact. I was wrong; it looked just as bright and gorgeous on my eye lids.
It is a really nice colour that's bold and quite eccentric. It is not one that I would wear every day but it works perfectly with shades of blue on your eye lids when on a night out.
The eye liner does 'Stay Perfect' throughout the time of wearing it and does not crease or flake off. Therefore doing exactly what it says on the tin, but, there is one problem......
It really does stay perfect, this stuff doesn't budge! Removing it is an absolute nightmare. I mean I like it but I don't want to be wearing it all the time.
I tried wiping and scrubbing but nothing seems to work easily and it actually gets quite painful trying to get it off your eye lids.
**Price and availability**
This product is available for £8.75 and is available from Boots stores in a variety of shades including; purple, gunmetal silver and blue. I liked all of these shades after swatching them as it's nice to have something other that the every day black.
As I said this is a great eye liner and the colour is fantastic but it's just the removal that puts me off and this is why I don't use it as much as I would like. Due to this I have to give it 3 stars.
--also on ciao--
If you've read some of my other reviews you'll know I recently tried the Stay Perfect eye mousse and was disappointed. The Stay Perfect eye liner is a whole different story though.
The Stay Perfect liner is a liquid liner available in a fantastic range of colours and effects (eg matte, shimmery etc) from No7 at Boots. It comes in a clear plastic tube, allowing you to clearly see the colour of the liner you're purchasing, and has modern gold lettering. The black lid unscews to reveal an inbuilt applicator brush similar to that found in nail varnishes albeit a lot thinner.
The liner itself is quite thick compared to other liquid liners I've tried, almost gloopy but not quite. I was a little put off by this at first. The brush is small enought to handle easily although not small enough to create a really precise thin line - this could easily be remedied by using a seperate, specific liner brush however. The line acheived using the brush provided is of medium thickness and ideal for use with the bolder colours when you want to just wear coloured liner alone. The liner applies easily despite the thickness of the product and gives excellent coverage without a hint of skin-colour visible through the colour. It does take a little while to dry and blinking sometimes gets me into trouble but you just have to remember to do one eye at a time and to keep the eye closed for 40 seconds or so afterwards! I personally have this in the colour shown in the photo above (a turquoisey green/blue) and the colour just pops when applied. It truely is stunning and I haven't failed to receive admiring comments every single time I've worn this!
Now for the Stay Perfect part. It, astonishingly, does just that. In fact, if I apply this too close to the roots of my eyelashes then I sometimes have a little trouble getting it to come off at the end of the night. It really, really doesn't budge at all until you show it some eye make-up remover when you get home. An absolute gem for long evenings/nights out. I seriously haven't used a liner with quite so much staying power as this one!
I'm going to give this 4 stars. It would be a massive 5 if it dried a little quicker and came off maybe a tad easier but that's just me being picky.
I've always thought of No 7 products as matural and generally I wouldn't look at their products for bright, funky colours. However, I was given one of these eyeliners in a vibrant blue and I was very, very impressed.
The packaging, like all of the No 7 is very sophisticated and sleek. It feels well made and generally high quality. The brush is very thin but gives a good, even line.
The colour range of these eyeliners is limited but the colours are all very, very pretty. There is a silver, gold, blue and turqouise. All of these are beautifull and metallic. I almost wish there was a black because I think this is a really practical colour.
The staying power of these is unbelieveable. Once applied they will last all night, without fail. They will not budge. They are waterproof aswell which is useful. However, they are very very difficult to remove. Even with eye makeup remover they do require a lot of scrubbing and I have even had to scrub the remains off in the morning after i've worn it at night.
They are quite pricey at £8.50 but they are so worth it. The staying power speaks for itself and you really have to see it to believe it.
At the moment in Boots they have an offer on, that when you spend over £22 on No 7 products you get a free gift set, so I made is my priority to spend £22 just to get a free gift set!
Unfortunatley the most expensive item that I wanted was £20.50 and with 50p left to spend, I couldn't find anything under £5 so decided to spend £8.50 on this eyeliner.
As I have said, it is from BOOTS as the No 7 range is exclusive to Boots and cost £8.50, there is a variety of colours, including the normal black and brown, however I personally purchased the eyeliner that is pictured.
Unlike other liquid eyeliners I have used you do get quite a lot of eyeliner in the tube, unlike those othere tiddly little things you can buy.
The brush itself does have seperate bristles, which makes it nice and easy to apply!
Thhe colour is very bright and does have a metallic sheen to it, which makes it slightly shinier in the light. The blue is quite bright, though now and then it does have a greeny, teal tinge to it, which is also quite nice, which makes ia a 'sea' like colour.
When you apply it, it is nice and smooth and easy due to the seperate bristles, you can also get quite a lot on one brush stroke, which mreans it easy to apply from one side of the eye to the other in once clean sweep.
Once on it does not crease, or crack in the colours like some of the cheaper makes do and does in fact do what it is meant to in that I mean 'stay perfect', however in most cases I find that it does stay a little too perfect and is very stubborn to remove.
Above my eye I am often left with a pale greeny, blue line that no amount of scrubbing cann get off and in most cases can still be there in the morning. Also if I ever forget to take it off, in the morning it still exactly the same as I left it, so it could be better if it were easier to remove!
This amazing eyeliner from no7 is great! The first time I used this was for a joint-18th party, however I was given it for christmas back in 2008 and the joing 18th was the chance I could wear it for the first time! I got the best results. It comes in all ranges of colors that include: jade green, sky blue, silver, gold and nude. However limited edition ones are sparkly! But remember, even though they may have limited edition eyeliners and other make-up products you gonna have to grab them quickly before the limited time ends, but if you don't have enough cash to buy it the first time round, don't forget to check the sale/reduced items cause limited edition make-up can be found there cheaper! So you have an eyeliner for almost any time of the day! So you can be natural, daring or glam what ever you're mood is! These eyeliners are expensive (about seven or eight pounds), but they can dry out easily - so don't leave them in or direct sunlight! Yes, I've done that myself, but they do still work just make sure it's not sticky or gloppy or anything! The eyeliners are sold in all Boots stores (almost any Boots store in the country really!) One of the best things about this eyeliner is that it is long lasting so it'll last you the whole day/night - so you never ever have to worry about re-applying your eyeliner, sadly the bad thing is that it doesn't always come off when you take your make-up off at night and is still on your eye lids in the morning - so make sure you try to remove it as much as you can.
After using this eyeliner I bought a couple more as I love them so much (I also love the n07 brand make-up!) so these are defo worth buying and the price to, so sometimes it is always good to spend a little more on products for better results and quality!
After getting yet another £5 off no7 products voucher, i was wondering what i could buy next from no7 as i have tried most of their products now! I decided to try this eye liner, i didnt want to spend too much money really, this was one of the cheapest items as it was £8.50, but i only paid £3.50 with the voucher off. I thought this was one of the best items i have got from no7 for just £3.50!!
This product is a liquid eyeliner which comes in a 4ml bottle. It comes in a range of colours including jewel, gilt, sapphire and star. I bought this product in jewel which is a blue-green colour. It is very bold, and bright, and is more of a summer shade. It is really vibrant and really stands out, i always get compliments when wearing this colour.
I have never had an eyeliner which is so long lasting. I always have to touch my eyeliner up during the day because it has either smudged or just faded, but this eyeliner did not look any different at the end of the day. It stayed perfect all day - living up to its name! It did not need touching up, i just put it on in the morning and you dont need to worry about it all day!
Whilst this eyeliner is great for staying on through out the day, it is a nightmare trying to get it off at night! My eye make up remover removes most of it, but not completely. A hot shower does not seem to take this off either, i have to really rub it off my eyes, which can make them quite sore afterwards. It would be great if it could be removed a bit easier, as this does sometimes put me off wearing it, as it is time consuming and annoying trying to get it off at night!
This eyeliner has a very small brush, which makes it so easy to apply perfect first time. It is a perfect size for an eyeliner.
I highly recommend this eyeliner as it is so long lasting, there are gorgeous colours to choose from and it is so easy to apply! Deffinately one of my favourite no7 products!
I received a No7 gift set for christmas and you know how it is, you will use only one or two things and the others will be left in the box or given away.
I assume that this would be the case with this set and once I saw the colour of the eyeliner as above I was sure that this would be the one product that I would use.
====== The Product =====
The No7 stay perfect eyeliner comes in the packaging that you can see above, the colour on the bottom half is the colour of the eyeliner and the lid is black.
When you unscrew the eyeliner and take out the applicator it has a very fine brush on the end about half an inch long and is tightly packed to allow for precision defining.
When you take the applicator out the brush is covered in the slightly thicker than normal liquid eyeliner and the colour has a very definite shimmer to but more of an iridescent look than straight on glitter.
====== How To Apply ======
Place the mirror in front of you on a table so that you can use your elbow to balance.
Take the applicator out and gently wipe on the side of the tube to remove any excess as with all products is easy to apply more than to remove too much.
Start applying at the inside corner and use very gently sweeping motions as this can be easy than trying to achieve a perfect straight line all in one go.
You may find that it is easier to apply if you gently lift your eyelid from just under the brow bone with your other hand as this lifts the eye and allows you to take closer to the top of your lashes.
I found that the eyeliner was very easy to apply and the fine tightly packed brush allowed me to apply the eyeliner in the exactly the right place.
The eyeliner is wet when applied and dries very quickly so take your time with the application as it is hard to rectify once it has dried. I was pleased that when the colour dries it stays true to the fade and is not diluted and it did not lose it's iridescent look.
For daytime a more natural look is best and just follow the line of your lashes all the way to the end and if you want you can slightly smudge the line to give a slightly softer look.
You can also make the line slightly thicker from the middle of the eye to the outer corner as this gives you a more lengthen look to your eyes.
Again apply it from the inner corner and all the way along and then go over the line from the middle of your eye and make it slightly thicker and then when you get to the outside corner look at where your outer lashes point and slightly follow the lash as this will give you slight cat flick and more of a sultry and 60s look.
====== Staying Power ======
The eyeliner is liquid concrete! once it has dried it is not going to budge so it is extremely long lasting and hard wearing.
When I am in the wind I tend to get watery eyes and this usually results in my eye makeup sliding half way down my face and I am pleased to report that this did not happen with this product.
======= Removing =======
Due to the staying power of the eyeliner when I came to take off all my makeup at bedtime I found that it was very difficult to move and more usual eye makeup remover was not doing the great job that it always does even with some quite forceful rubbing which is not great for your delicate eye area!. I gave up and went to bed and in the morning it was still there although this time after nearly 24 hours of wear it did come off more easily.
======= My Conclusion =======
I think that this is a great eyeliner, it definitely wins the award for staying power!. the colour stayed true all day and lasted through all the elements.
Due to the quality of the applicator it is easy to apply and create different looks with one eyeliner.
It has to be said though that you need quite a strong remover to take it off or be prepared to have traces on you for a day or two.
======= Cost And Availability ======
No7 products can be purchased at boots stores and online at www.boots.com cost approx £7.00
By far the greatest asset in my make up bag! Having received a miniature version for Christmas in a gift set I was instantly drawn to its startling colour. I absolutely love this product, whenever I use it I always receive numerous comments about my eye make up and unlike most of my other eye make up, it doesn't rub off or fade after a few hours ware- if I don't take my make up before going to sleep I wake up in the morning still donning a very vibrant blue line on each eye!!
Although it is expensive at around £8 it is well worth every penny. My small miniature pot lasted me over a year and that was with use pretty much every day! The thin applicator brush makes lining the bottom of your eye an absolute doddle and you get great results every time.
I have tried other cheaper alternatives to this product and they all have very poor wear in comparison and none of them have given me quite the same metallic vibrant look as this one.
An essential for any party girls make up bag- use matching eye shadow for a real eye pooping look!
What a beautiful idea. This product is amazing and make the eyes look lush!
I have tried other eye liners before but they never gave me my desired look so when I seen the No7 range of eye liners I could not resist! They are not cheap but they are fantastic!
There are severel colours to choose from blues, golds, silvers and greens. They really compliment your eyes and look great with your eye shadows. The eye liner is so easy to apply the brush is thin and stiff which means you get precise application so no messes no awful lines, and no messed up make up!! Finally!
The little tubes are small but very full and as the eye liner does not come off your eyes and lasts all day it is perfect! And a small tube lasts a very long time!
The colours can be mixed together as well as using them on their own, also you can also wear the eye liner with eye shadow or just on the eye alone. It is great! You can wear them everyday as well as wearing them for evenings and specail occassions. Very versatile!
They each cost £9.50 but are really worth the money! and they are truely beautiful and rich!
I always wanted to try liquid eyeliner so when I was in Boots I bought myself one. I am sure I won't wait further 30 years to buy the next one. I read a few reviews on Boots No7 Stay Perfect eyeliner and all of them said that it is of good quality so I gave it a go.
Price and package
The eyeliner comes in a plastic bottle with a black cap which contains the brush exactly as nail varnishes. This bush is naturally very thin and has short bristles so that you can apply the eyeliner in a very fine line around your eyes. The bottle contains 4 ml of eye liner but this is enough for a long time. As it dries quickly I think this amount is well matched to keep the product in the same condition during you use it. Well it is not very cheap as you can get it for 8.50 pounds but it is really staying perfect all day and only a little is needed for one application thus lasts long.
Texture and colours
When you open the bottle you can see that the eyeliner is quite thick similar to a cream. Luckily it has a very good applicator brush with short and staying together bristles. As I have mentioned before this was the first time I used liquid eye liner and it was perfect I managed to draw a line exactly where I wanted and it stayed there for a very long time. It dries quite quickly so if you want to correct you have to act quickly too.
It is available only in five colours: Gilt (bronze), Jewel (green), Sapphire (blue), Midas (white) and Star (silver). I bought Gilt as I wanted to highlight my green eyes.
It is available in Boots shops and online on www.boots.com. You can collect extra points on your loyalty card now if you choose this product plus it is on 3 for 2 offer.
I'm really sorry that it is available only in these five colours as it is brilliant eyeliner with perfect applicator. I tried the Gilt colour which is actually medium brown but glitters like bronze. I found that bronze and purple makeup highlights my green eyes best. I looked up the colours on Internet before I went to the shop so I knew what I wanted to buy. There was a tester available so I tried it on my hand and I found that it covers well and it is easy to apply. When I used my own eyeliner at home I found that it is easy to apply on your eyes as well. It is quite difficult to clean it. You should leave the cleaning pad on your eyes for a few seconds before you try to clean it.
I think this is a brilliant product and I really hope they will release other colours too. I look forward to buy a purple one...
Boots No7 stay perfect eyeliner is a stunning colour and looks beautiful. The lid is a fine brush that you use to apply the eyeliner, which i believe is best suited on the top of the eye lid. Though i do sometimes wish the brush was thinner as it does come out in quite a thick line, aprroximately 2 or 3mm.
The liquid is the right consistency, not too runny but is very easy to apply. It is, however, very easy to get your eye lashes covered in it too, so its does take some practise and i would recommend applying it before your mascara. Its major down fall is how long it takes to dry. You will be waiting around a long time and will get very frustrated if you have inset eyes as you will get prints of the line above your eye.
When it has eventually dried it is indeed very long lasting, i usually have it still on the next morning if i fall asleep with it on. You will definately need facial wipes to remove it as it can leave a very annoying blue stain that only facial wipes can easily remove.
I would recommend buying it when boots give away the £5 off no7 voucher when you spend £5 in store which they do regularly (offering it until the 25th of Jan 2010 at the moment), making it very cheap, which makes up for its long drying time.
After being inspired by a picture in the Boots Magazine, I went to buy a gorgeous blue eyeliner. (the picture showed nude eyes lined with gorgeous colour)
I browsed the stands awhile before I spotted a rich blue tube on the No7 stand. "Sapphire" Stay Perfect Eyeliner is a rich royal blue. Kind of like a deeper version of a clear summer sky. Just what I was after to go with a top I'd bought a week or two before.
Around the £8 or £9 mark, it was a little more than I'd anticipated spending, but after using the tester pot on my hand, I knew it was perfect for me.
The brush is just like a very fine paintbrush, with the bristles being about a centimetre long. It meant I could 'paint' the eyeliner on. The bristles are flexible, so you can follow your lash line easily. The eyeliner paint is a bit thick, and glides on similar to a gel. It really does feel like your using an oil paint, only thinner.
After you let it dry for a minute or so, this eyeliner really does stay perfect. In fact, it takes some to get it off at the end of the day anyway!
The colours are rich, without glitter. I also have Jewel (a aqua colour) and Star (a wonderful silver) and always love the chance to wear them.
The shelf life of these eyeliners is 24 months after opening, so will last for a long time.
The only downside of these is the removal. Unless you use a specific eye makeup remover (liquid, not wipe) then you will have to rub for a while to remove it all
Long lasting colour /
