Advantages: Lovely colours, easy to apply, lasts ages
Disadvantages: Quite hard to remove, expensive
I bought this eyeliner because I had yet another of the £5 No7 vouchers that Boots have been giving out for the last few months. It was £8.50 for a 4ml bottle, so I only ended up paying £3.50. I don't think I would have bought it for the original price because it didn't really seem worth it.
It comes in 5 different colours, I chose Jewel, which is a really nice turquoise colour, with a kind of 2-tone effect to it.
*Packaging*
It is actually in a fairly plain packaging but I think it looks nice and good quality. Its in a neat clear bottle with a black lid and gold lettering saying: No7 Stay Perfect Eyeliner.
*My Experience*
I have tried cheaper liquid colour eyeliners before and have always been disappointed with how watery they are, and they never seem to make a clear strong line of the colour. This, however, was completely different. I tried it out on my hand first and straight away it made a really clear line in exactly the colour it looked in the bottle. It was almost like painting nail varnish onto your skin in terms of how bold the colour was.
I first used the eyeliner properly when I was going on a night out as I don't really wear makeup like this during the day. I decided to apply it where I would usually wear my black liquid eyeliner, just on the upper eyelid. It has a really good brush which is quite fine meaning you can get a really neat line. Not too much of the eyeliner comes out each time so it doesn't end up all over the place. I only had to put one layer on, and it was really quick and convenient to use.
The eyeliner has a texture which I found quite weird at first, its almost like an oily feeling and to begin with can feel fairly heavy, but once it has dried I didn't notice it at all. It takes a while to dry because of the oily texture, but once it is dry it really does stay on all night, in fact I found it quite hard to get off the next day! But I'd rather that than it smudging during the night.
I love how the colour looks, it comes out looking metallic and really shiny and it stays like that all night. I think it would look a bit over the top during the day or at work though, so would keep it for nights out.
The bottle is actually quite a generous size for liquid eyeliner and because you don't have to use much I can imagine it lasting quite a long time. Also I don't think it would easily dry out even if you weren't to use it for ages because of its consistency.
*Overall Opinion*
Although to begin with I thought this was overpriced, I have realised that it is definitely worth paying more for this, as it is a much better quality and gives better results than cheaper alternatives.
I have since bought the eyeliner again in Sapphire and for the full price. I love this colour even more, it is a navy blue but again with a 2-tone metallic effect. I would probably consider buying some of the other colours in the future.
