“ Brand: Boots / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye / What it does: Smoothes, „
This is an excellent product. Apply under your eye shadow and it really helps it stay there all day. It also seems to make the eye shadow colour more even and a little more vibrant as it is going onto a smoother block of colour. The product also helps avoid eye shadow seeping into the folds in the eye lid. The colour blends into my skin and it looks as if I'm not wearing it. One note: the eye base is quite similar to my skin tone anyway. If you had darker skin tones, the product may stand out - something to consider.
It retails for £7 which can seem expensive, but I've had mine for well over a year now and there is still plenty left. Also, it can be purchased when boots have their "£5 off No7" offers. Also, it may be cheaper to invest in this and get away with buying cheaper eye shadows.
One drawback is that the applicator seems a bit cheap and fiddly to get in and out of the container - I use a separate applicator and throw it away every now and then for hygiene reasons.
To help you find it in the store, consider if now looks different - the product has been repackaged in white.
This base is creamy and very easy to apply. The creamy formula helps the base to slide onto your eyes, sliding on with ease and precision. You can apply the base with the brush included in the case, or you can apply the base simply by using your fingertips. The base is a neutral colour, very natural looking. You apply the base first then you apply your eyeshadow over the top of it.
I find that my eyeshadow is easy to apply over the base. It glides on easily and the base helps it to stay on. With this base my eyeshadow lasts a LOT longer compared to using my eyeshadow alone (without the base). Even in hot weather my eyeshadow stays on and it doesn't crease either. I would recommend this base to everyone as it's easy to use and easy to apply. It's also fragrance free and it doesn't irritate the eyes in any way. The eyes are a delicate area but No. 7 have created a delicate formula for this base. It's not too bad in value either and you can buy it either instore or online. I bought mine with a £5 off voucher and I only had to put £2 to it, which wasn't bad.
It helps your eyeshadow to stay on, it helps your eyeshadow to stay crease-free and it's easy to remove at the end of the day. One small pot lasts a good while too as you only need a small amount per application.
Well worth the money.
I always like to wear some form of colour on my eyes, natural colours during the day then a little wilder on nights out. After a few hours of wearing eye shadow, they start to crease and disappear leaving my eye lids looking smudged and greasy. To combat this, I read that using a base for the eyes will help hold the eye shadow in place and make the colours look more vivid and longer lasting. So my search began. I initially went to some expensive make up counters and tried different products, then seeing a three for two offer on no 7 products, I decided to have a look there. I spotted this little number and bought it along with two other products so I could take advantage of the promotion. The base advertises that it, "smooths and brightens." This sounded exactly what I was looking for.
The compact looks good value for money. It comes in a smart little box with an application brush. At first glance you would think this was a peach coloured eye shadow. The little application wand is of the same style as most other no 7 eye palettes. It is curved to fit the palette and is extremely small making it hard to hold. The sponge tip is firm and pointed making it extremely difficult to pick up the powder. Even you do manage to pick up a bit of the powder it is then exceedingly difficult to transfer it on to the eyes! Luckily I have an assortment of brushes to use. The powder goes on very smoothly. It feels delicious as it coats the eye; creamy and light. I was worried it would feel quite heavy but this is not the case. The colour is a subtle bright peach shade. It's a refreshing shade and could be worn alone if you wanted to master the natural look. When applying an eye shadow on top it makes the colour go on better, providing a smooth base to create some great looks. I honestly do not think it does anything to make the colour last longer or prevent it from creasing, however. As this was my original reason for purchase I was a little disappointed with it. I still use the product though
I love this product! I've been using this eye base for about 3 months now, I got it as I was in need of a new primer for my eyes, so I thought I would try this one out as many of my friends recommended it to me and I did, so surprisingly I had a £5 No7 voucher and so I got this and it was originally £7.75 but I only paid £2.75 as I had £5 off.
So within the first use I noticed a complete difference in my eyes. It actually made my eyes look brighter, I don't know how but they looked so much healthier and brighter and when I applied eyeshadow on top of it, it stayed on all day! I have never found a primer which actually works for me like this one! It has such a creamy consistency as well, so it applies very easily on the eyelid and it hides under eyeshadow so it is completely un-noticeable. It comes in lovely packaging and comes with a small eye sponge which comes in handy when applying this product! If you have a £5 voucher for No7 from purchasing something from Boots, I really recommend you go into Boots and get this product as it is incredible! Even when using the most powdery eyeshadows, it still works so that is really good!
I have no disadvantages for this product as I absolutely adore it and I will continue purchasing this!
This is a fantastic little product from the Boots No.7 range of make up. It doesn't actually brighten your eyes, but it does brighten your eye make up. It comes in a small pot the same size as a single shade eye shadow, although, strangely, my pot is white and not black as that pictured above.
It is not a powder, like eye shadows, but a creme. Looking at it in the pot it looks quite a dark pinky colour, but when you apply it it blends into your skin colour and is barely noticable. Except that is when you only do one eye. I did, just to compare the difference. On your eyelid it has the effect of literally brightening your skin and bringing the skin tone on your eyelids into line with the rest of your face, if, like me, your eyelids usually look darker.
However, the product is not designed to be worn on its own, it's like foundation for eyes. You apply your normal eye shadow over the top. With the base on, the colours in your eye shadow become much more vibrant, and more true to the colour they actually are in the pot. I know this, because, as I have said I have used the base on one eye only, for the purposes of consumer review, you understand - I did not actually go out that way!
There is a tiny little applicator inside the pot with a sponge on the end of it. Emphasis on tiny. It is almost impossible to pick up with your fingers, you have to tip it out. Then it is so small it become awkward to put the creme onto the sponge and just as awkward to apply to your eye. I find it much easier to use a finger to do both and the creme goes on just as well.
The creme does not melt in hot conditions, as some cremes are wont to do, and therefore your eye make remains fresh for an entire evening, instead of looking like its run off to hide in the creases of your eyelid half way through the night.
I love this product. It is well worth the £7.75 cost.
I bought this when I had one of the £5 No7 till splits so it was quite good value. However, I do think it would be incredibly expensive for the amount of product you get.
The packaging is white unlike the rest of the sophisticated black No.7 products which does look a bit cheap. It is nice and small so easy to transport or fit into your makeup bag. It comes with an applicator but I find this useless, applying it with your finger spreads the product evenly and provides a nice base for eyeshadow. It's smooth and easy to apply and a little goes a wrong way.
It does prolong the staying power of your eyeshadow, but it doesnt work very well with loose pigment eyeshadows. It stops creasing and brings out colours, particularly shimmery shadows.
I do find that it brightens my eye area and for this I think it is definately worth buying. It also conceals undereye circles which is a bonus. It is a great started eye primer and although expensive for the high street, is cheap compared to the high end brands. The pot does last a while as the product goes quite a long way.
This is a product produced by No 7. The product can be used under eyeshadows as a base to allow them to last longer or it can be used on its own as an eye shadow which brightens your eyes. This is £7.50 and comes with its own small applicator.
I generally don't use a base under my eyeshadows as I think they last quite a long time anyway and I'm not that fussed about having to re apply anyway. But I bought this over a year ago with one of my No 7 £5 vouchers, so it only cost £2.50.
This is a cream product which smooths really easily onto your eyelids. It is a really nice colour - light pinky. When I use this cream it does help my eyeshadow remain on for longer. I don't have to re apply. It also makes the colour of it more intense, presumably as your eyelid is slightly wet when you apply the shadow. This works really well with glittery eyeshadows as it helps keep it on your eye lid (and not your cheek) and the colour is intensified.
You can also use this on its own which I have did a few times as it makes your eyes look really bright and fresh, great after a late night or for a Monday morning! It has a nice texture and does not crease in your eyelids like many of the cream shadows.
I would give this a try, especially if you have a spare No 7 £5 voucher left to use!
I have a job that requires me to look presentable for up to 19 hours and this is definately a product that helps!
Before I bought this product, I used to have to reapply my eyeshadow every few hours as it used to miraculously vanish!
Not anymore, now not only does my eyeshadow stay on for much longer, it is also easier to apply over this base.
You apply it before your eyeshadow and it does feel very luxurious and makes your eye lids feel lovely and smooth.
When on days off, when I dont need to look so glam, I wear it on its own with some mascara as it is a light pink shade and looks very natural yet giving a flawless look for tired eyes.
At £7.50 it may seem expensive for something to go under your make up, however No.7 always have deals on whether it be 'buy 3 products for the price 2' or Boots do often give vouchers out with £5 off No.7 products which makes it a bargain.
I used to have a make up bag full of numerous useless products, but now I only have a few things I love and this eye base is definately a must have or a try atleast. Its good value for money and lasts forever.
Well what can i say..This has got to be the best make up item i have bought in the last twelve months !!
I was in recipt of the No7 £5.00 off voiucher and it was the last day the voucher could be used , so i scanned the shelves and found this fantastic item ive never looked at before. And at atotal rrp of around £6/ 8 i was extreemly suprised how i wouldnt be without it now.
It is so simple to use the applicator is perfect for its use too.
I apply the eye base that is really smooth and goes a long way onto my eyelids , and already i look alot better for it , even when ive worke dhard all week and have an hangover!!
Once you place any type of eyeshadow ontop it stays put for many hours so fantastic for everyday use or evening wear / holidays etc.
This works ideally on those shimmer eyeshadows we all purchase and the dust falls off everywhere this product underneath is essential to keep it put., and no need to re apply.
The tiny cute pot it comes in fits in your pocket / handbag easily and i would definately recommend this cheap must have item to any ladies who have tired eyes or wear eyeshadow .
One thing that has plagued me my whole life is the fact that the skin around my eyes has always looked bruised and dark. It means I look tired or ill when really all I've done is forget to put makeup on, and it wears a bit thin when you realise that people think your natural appearance is akin to a beaten wife or drug addict.
When I first picked this up, it was with the intention of using it simply as a concealer as that is what I thought it was, but have discovered more recently that it is fantastic as a base underneath eye makeup.
As a simple base with nothing on top, I found it made my eyes look fresher and less bruised. It saved the need for foundation in the day, which in turn meant I could go for a much more natural made up face, with just a little base on my lids up to my brows. Because of the nature of this product, it didn't slip or collect in the creases after a couple of hours like a simple concealer does.
Under eye makeup it performs pretty well too. It gives you a nice area to apply your makeup to, smoother and much easier to apply accurately if you are going for a complex look. I found it nicer under a powder than under a cream shadow, but I have a bias towards powder as it is my preferred make up anyway. I do think the powder lasts longer than the cream even with this primer underneath. A full day for powder and maybe half with a cream.
Colours are definitely more vibrant, so be aware when you are applying not to add too much or you'll find you need to wipe it off and start again, which isn't a problem if you consider that the base comes off well with a wipe or makeup remover, but is a problem if you are in a hurry.
I prefer to apply this with my fingers, so the brush is a little superfluous, you get a more even coverage and it's quicker without it.
It's not a cheap product at £7.50, but I think that it is something that will last a while, mine has been in use for a few months and there is still lots left. The quality of the finish makes it a make up must have in my house. You still get your Boots Advantage points, and there are always great promotional offers on the No. 7 range, at the moment it's 3 for 2 but they often hand out £5 off vouchers or extra points with your purchase, so if you time it right you can get this handy little cream for next to nothing.
Apply eyeshadow over the eye base to intensify the colour and allow the shadow application to last longer /
