Advantages: Brightens bruised eyes, gives a great and lasting finish to eye makeup
Disadvantages: A bit expensive, brush isn't that great
One thing that has plagued me my whole life is the fact that the skin around my eyes has always looked bruised and dark. It means I look tired or ill when really all I've done is forget to put makeup on, and it wears a bit thin when you realise that people think your natural appearance is akin to a beaten wife or drug addict.
When I first picked this up, it was with the intention of using it simply as a concealer as that is what I thought it was, but have discovered more recently that it is fantastic as a base underneath eye makeup.
As a simple base with nothing on top, I found it made my eyes look fresher and less bruised. It saved the need for foundation in the day, which in turn meant I could go for a much more natural made up face, with just a little base on my lids up to my brows. Because of the nature of this product, it didn't slip or collect in the creases after a couple of hours like a simple concealer does.
Under eye makeup it performs pretty well too. It gives you a nice area to apply your makeup to, smoother and much easier to apply accurately if you are going for a complex look. I found it nicer under a powder than under a cream shadow, but I have a bias towards powder as it is my preferred make up anyway. I do think the powder lasts longer than the cream even with this primer underneath. A full day for powder and maybe half with a cream.
Colours are definitely more vibrant, so be aware when you are applying not to add too much or you'll find you need to wipe it off and start again, which isn't a problem if you consider that the base comes off well with a wipe or makeup remover, but is a problem if you are in a hurry.
I prefer to apply this with my fingers, so the brush is a little superfluous, you get a more even coverage and it's quicker without it.
It's not a cheap product at £7.50, but I think that it is something that will last a while, mine has been in use for a few months and there is still lots left. The quality of the finish makes it a make up must have in my house. You still get your Boots Advantage points, and there are always great promotional offers on the No. 7 range, at the moment it's 3 for 2 but they often hand out £5 off vouchers or extra points with your purchase, so if you time it right you can get this handy little cream for next to nothing.
Summary: The quality of the finish makes it a make up must have in my house.
