Bourjois Mascara Volume Clubbing
by Charleechimp
I like to consider myself adventurous when it comes to make up because i like to hunt a bargain and i'm always searching for something better, but for me this is the old faithful - like an old friend you can always turn to in times of need!
The brush is very big which means you can apply it faster and give more lift to your lashes ... from the base. I personally like the 'absolute black' shade, it gives a very dark and matte black which looks great! Its smudge-free and very long lasting, even though i prefer not to use waterproof eye make up it still stands strong against the tear test!
It applies very easily because of the straight forward handle and thick brush but because of the straight edges of the brush it doesn't give as much curve to your lashes as a spoon brush might. I recommend using eyelash curlers before application to give yourself the maximum volume and really open up those lovely eyes!
It can be hardwork taking it off, however. Its more of an eye make up remover job than just water, even without the waterproof version. Read the complete review |

Bourjois Effet Smoky Pencil
by hanmillie
As I headed out to my local Boots earlier this year I made an instant bee line for the makeup aisle. My mission, to find a new eyeliner to replace the stumpy old ones scattered around my makeup bag. I have over the years trialled a number of different eyeliners with differing results, and this time round I was determined to not be swayed ... by cost but instead to buy something that would give a good result. Bourjois are a brand that I have used a couple of times in the past but not as much as others, and so when I saw this "Bourjois Effect Smoky Pencil" I though it would be worth a punt to see how good it would be.
~The Product~
This eyeliner looks no different in many ways to any other eye liner on the market, the application of it made clear by the pencil sized body which was slightly longer in length to a standard eyeliner pencil. It only differs by the fact that this is a two ended pencil and therefore features the lead of the eyeliner pencil on one end together with a black brush on the other. This eyeliner was available in three colour ways in my local Boots store, those being the standard black, brown and blue, however a look on the Bourjois gives a surprising array of colours which are as follows:
* Smoked Brown 71
* Dark Purple 72
* Deep Green 73
* Grey Shadow 74
* Intense Black 75
* Ultra Black 76
* Sand Rose 77
* New Wave Blue 78
* Sparkling Granite 79
* Sparkling Mocha 80
* Sparkling Navy 81
Had I have known that there were a number of sparkly options available I might have looked for one of them, however being someone who sticks to quite a neutral palette of colours day to day I thought that a black pencil would be best and so opted for the Intense Black.
The body and lid of each pencil is coloured to suit the colour of the pencil lead. Therefore my Intense Black pencil features a black pencil body with a black lid with the text 'Smoky Effect' inscribed in shiny silver text down the body. The text is accompanied by two eye images again in a silver colour way which illustrate the pencil being applied around the eye area. On one end of my pencil is the sharpened lead which is topped with a black cap and on the other, a black brush tip which is enclosed in a transparent plastic lid.
Taking off the lid of my pencil, the colour of the lead is very dark and therefore I fully concur with its 'Intense Black' name, whilst the pencil lead produces a strong line of colour on my outstretched hand when pressed lightly.
~Application and Use~
Now being that I am a lover of the smoky eye look, I have over the years experimented with a number of ways to achieve the perfect look but keep returning to the same one. I like to start the look with a base of lighter colour eye shadow up to the brow bone and then follow this with a touch of a darker shade from the centre of my eye lid outwards. This is then topped with a line of pencil around the top and bottom lash line and a liberal coating of mascara. Now I have always understood the key to a good smoky eye being the amount of smudging that is done and that is where this pencil shines. Being given a brush at the end of the pencil ensures that the line of black colour can be smudged easily and effectively. The brush has very soft bristles and this ensures that the application process does not irritate my eyes whilst the colour is dark and strong and stands out from the rest of my makeup giving a very defined look.
At the end of the day I like to ensure that my eye makeup is completely removed and I do this with a standard facial cleanser. The good amount of smudging that is done when I use this eyeliner means that the colour often clings to the rims of my eyes around the eyelash line and therefore does require washing twice to remove all traces.
~Price and Availably~
I bought my eye pencil from Boots a couple of months ago and paid around £5 for it. A look online reveals that it is currently selling in Boots for £5.49 and in Tesco for £5.50 and this is a pretty standard price to pay in my opinion. The bonus it seems is the fact that you in effect get two products in one, one product being the eyeliner pencil and the other being the brush at the other end which if purchased separately could easily equate to more than the £5.50.
~My Summary~
Having used this pencil for the past couple of months I have had no irritation or cases of the pencil lead becoming too hard and therefore hurting my sensitive eye area. I also like the way that after I have finished using the pencil I can simply pop the lids on either end and put it back in my makeup bag without worrying about the black colour being smudged in every orifice. It produces a great smoky eye look and the results last all day in my case without the need for a top up or without the colour transferring around my eye area. I feel that at £5.50 this is a good price to pay for such a versatile little pencil, my only criticism being that it might smudge too effectively as I can at times find the colour quite difficult to remove.
This product comes highly recommended and for that it scores an excellent five stars.

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush
by vasia1007
I just love bourjois cosmetics!I have a huge collection of bourjois products!The product i use the most and therefore is my favourite, is the little round pot blush.I have been experimenting for years with blushes.....i have tried the blushes from the most companies but i had never been completely satisfied.
When i first saw ... this blush i was impressed by its appearance.It's sooooo cute!!!it's just so small and girlie.Comes in sooo many shades that can leave even the most demanding blush user satisfied.The little round pot contains a tiny tiny mirror inside which has saved me lots of time since i have used it even at the street when running late.You can put it even in the smallest purse....fits everywhere!handy and convenient.
as far as it concerns its effect, it's amazing!Leaves the skin really soft and shimmering!makes your face glam and not shine in a bad way.Also natural-looking!It lasts all day/all night long, and doesn't fade away.I am so happy i found out about this blush!i own all the colour shades and believe me among the 12 different shades ,you will find the one you are looking for!It's little brush is really convenient and does its job perfectly!
I love how gentle and soft this blush feels against the skin and its scent is just amazing!Smells like roses, almost edible!Makes me feel so confident and covers up the totally annoying blushing i always have when i feel embarrassed! :D Although its package seems really small, it lasts really long and has a reasonable price for what it offers.
Some tips for this product by the bourjois company:
1. For a natural result, smile and apply the blush on your cheekbones with circular movements. Then stretch up to the temples.
2.If you applied to much, don't worry; just apply a coat of powder on top of it! Read the complete review |
