Advantages: Non sticky, sheer colour and easy to apply.
Disadvantages: Has a natural looking effect, rather than a dramatic look.
I saw this product being endorsed by beauty experts in my glamour magazine so I purchased the 'Cassis' and 'Moka Frappe' colours in the range to test them. As Bourjois is a French company the product is branded in this language first. I believe the colours I choose are 'Blackcurrant' and 'Coffee' in English equivalent.
The packaging is very trendy and quite unique in appearance. The container is made of translucent plastic through which the colour of the gloss can be seen. The twist off top is slender and can be gripped with ease. The applicator pulls out slickly and smoothly and has an 8mm soft brush on the end. The product size is 7mls or 2 fluid ounces. It is about average size in the market.
The packaging claims that the gloss formula is "non sticky" and that it is a "moisturising formula" that leaves a "fresh effect". It promises to stay on your lips for four hours.
The product has a sweet, sharp suagry smell. The texture is smooth and like a watery gel. It can be applied very easily and with precision.
The 'Cassis' gloss is dark cerise in colour. When applied to lips the colour is thinned somewhat. It merely darkens the natual colour of the lips and leaves a natural looking shine. The gloss is not too heavy and when you press your lips together they do not stick. The texture is velvety.
The 'Moka Frappe' colour is coffee brown. It is noticable on the lips and has a luminous shine to it too. It is perhaps a bit more showbiz than the 'Cassis'. Texture wise it is the same as the 'Cassis' - very easy to wear. I also find that in windy, winter weather conditions my hair does not stick to my lips, an absolute essential factor when wearing lipgloss! It also remains on the lips for a long time - approximately three or four hours.
I like the product very much. The final visual result after applying may be perhaps more subtle than other lip glosses on the market, so if you are looking for a very dramatic effect I would suggest applying over a lipstick.
Summary: A great lip gloss that is a pleasure to use.

- 20/10/08 I found this quite drying after a few uses and went back to nice thick gloopy glosses. xx |
