Ever the fan of Bourjois, I often while away many a spare five minutes painting my hand with a rainbow of glosses, sticks etc. These lipglosses appealed to me because of the shine and also they are highly pigmented so that the colour is intense, even in the more natural shades, which gives a polished finished look.
I have shade 23 Framboise magnific and shade 1 beige elastic. The framboise is a lovely, wearable raspberry - a strong colour but not tacky - it could be worn by day or night, and has a slightly metallic shimmeriness to it as well as shine. I love this colour, and find it looks equally good with a natural-looking base and a quick slick of mascara as it does with smokey eyes and sculpted cheeks. Very versatile and girly without being sickly. The beige is a nice colour for muted lips - it is quite opaque so I wouldn't exactly call it natural, but it looks good, particularly as a contrast to stronger eye definition. The beige has shine to it, but not the same sparkle as the framboise.
The smell is typically of Bourjois lipsticks and glosses - a bit like a grown up sweet shop without being sickly. It has a slightly sticky formula, a bit thicker and less fluid than some glosses, and this is a good thing as it gives it staying power and higher colour strength. I guess this thickness inspires the "3d effet" name, and I definitely think it is a successful formula. It lasts for a good couple of hours, unless you eat / drink in which case it will need reapplication, but it is a nice little tube to stick in your bag, with a good firm brush applicator. It feels quite moisturising too. The price, as with many Bourjois products is fantastic value considering its quality, and it easily rivals glosses that cost twice the price or more. There is a colour for everyone, and the co-ordinate well with other Bourjois products. Enjoy!
The history of Bourjois is as colourful as its cosmetics. Born in 1863, Bourjois was created in the theatre district of Paris. The first creator was an actor who prepared makeup and perfumes for other actors and actresses from his own home. A few years later, the cosmetics were entrusted to Alexandre-Napoléon Bourjois and it blossomed into the company that we know and love today.
In keeping with the history theme, Bourjois has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Bourjois Effet 3D Collection. If a product has lasted 10 years on the market, it is usually a good sign that it high quality and well liked. This particular product is Bourjour's best selling lip gloss and for its birthday they have released even more new shades to add to the already shimmering and delicious varieties previously available and has updated the packaging. The new packaging is eye catching and strong with a black lid and clear bottom.
The reason for its popularity is that it promises to give your lips a 3 Dimensional volume for a super glossy plumped up pout, while keeping them hydrated for 8 hours with their smoothing formula and micro activators. It claims that it will push the limits of shine giving 33% more shine than other brands.
So how does it work? This thick, glossy formula is enriched with a micro crystalline wax which gives the lips a deep and voluminous appearance. The specially designed applicator brush will enable you to gain ultra shiny precise results with ease. The brush is shaped like a teardrop with holes in the middle. The holes enable both sides of the applicator to evenly spread the gloss. Its formula is also now paraben free as part of its own little make over and it contains 92% of all hydrating and nourishing protective agents which enable it to perfom a balming action of your lips meaning they won't become dry and flaky. The shine activators form a comfortable film across your lips making them smooth and radiant with shimmering tints.
As well as the previous nine best selling shades, six new tantalising light reflecting tints have been adding. The fifteen shades range from nude to high impact, each one with a name as dazzling as the gloss itself. Ambiguous yet intriguingly Parisian names accompany each shade such as Framboise Ardent, Cassis Pettilant and Brun etincelant. There is a fantastic page on the Bourjois website which shows you what each of the colours looks like on the lips which will enable you to make an informed decision about which one is best for you. The product is available from most big department stores and some larger supermarkets for around £7.
I am a big fan of this range of glosses. The colour it leaves on your lips is rich and vibrant. It feels creamy and smooth on your lips and once removed, your lips feel moisturised. It has a gorgeous glossy shimmer without being overly glittery and the gloss itself has a sweet yet subtle aroma. It gives my lips a high shine and beautiful texture with a choice of luscious shades appropriate for different occasions. The product has a long life making it well worth the price. As with all glosses, your hair will get stuck to your lips, if you go out in the wind despite the formula not being too sticky.
The gloss is a convenient size to carry around, however gloss also come in a mini size in the design of a mobile phone charm. Its cute and convenient and costs around £3.
The makeup from Bourjois had always stood out to me when walking through cosmetic stores due to its variety of shades and products. This is why I decided to purchase a lip gloss from the range; the 3D effect gloss.
The gloss comes in a long tube with a screw top lid which you can undo to reveal the lip brush. There are two main reasons why I like the packaging of this lip gloss. Firstly the lip brush itself. The brush is fairly small but is actually in the form of a brush rather than a sponge. This allows you to apply the gloss very precisely and evenly. The brush holds the gloss very well and does not become gloopy on the brush. The second reason I like the packaging of this lip gloss is because of the lip gloss handle. It is longer than other lip glosses that I have used, this makes it very easy to hold.
The colour that I chose for myself is kind of a hot pink colour called framboise magnifique, after looking on the boots website I don't think that they sell this colour any more but I will use my experience for this review.
As the tubes are see through like most lip glosses you get a good idea of what the colour is going to be like once applied to your lips. However, in the past I have used glosses which look different once they have been applied. I'm happy to say that this is not the case with the Bourjois 3D gloss. I was really surprised with the colour, it was very pink and intense. Just what I like, a good full on lip gloss.
Applying the gloss is very easy as it glides smoothly across your lips and is not at all sticky. The glitter particles that are in some of the colours aren't bitty and you cannot feel that they are there as they are blended perfectly with the gloss.
You can instantly smell this gloss when applied and it is quite pleasant. It is very sweet and reminds me of strawberries. I thought this might have just been the gloss that I had initially purchased but have found the same in other shades.
The lip brush allows you to get into every part of your lips to create the 3D effect. I find the 3D effect works best when using this lip brush than other products as you can really line your lips.
Although the colour of the gloss is intense when first applied I am sad to say that it doesn't last very long. Especially if you tend to wear products like this on a night out like me. It does not stand the drinks test and even if you aren't drinking expect to have to reapply the gloss within about an hour.
I paid £6.99 for this lip gloss in Boots. However look out for the special offers as I have quite often seen Bourjois products on offer.
You can find Bourjois products in pharmaceutical and cosmetic stores such as Superdrug and Boots.
I do like these lip glosses as they provide your lips with a burst of intense colour but do find it a bit annoying that you do have to reapply quite often. To solve this I just take one out with me. Due to this I have to rate this product 6 out of 10.
-also on ciao-
If like myself you love lipgloss then this is defently the lipgloss to buy!!
This lipgloss comes in a thin tube, which is handy to slip straight into your handbag. The wand tip is small but once pushed against the lips fans out enough for good coverage, which for me this perfect cause you dont end up with lipgloss all around your mouth.
It comes in a great range of different colours, i personally use "number 3 rose idyllic" which i love its a nice girly shade of pink.
this lipgloss is a ok price its £6.99 which seems a lot for lipgloss but it does last a good amount of time.
i use this product on a daily basis, its taken me a long time and many different tries to find a lipgloss that i like and this is the one! it stay on a fair amount of time, although the colour does fade slightly over time but that is to be expected. i do go through a tube in amount two and a half weeks but that is because of how often i apply i have found that my lips have got so use to all the extra moisture that it needs it now stop my lips from getting dry, my own fault but what better excuse to wear lipgloss is there.
i find only a few big boots store stock this range so it may require you either buying it online or going to a bigger boots store. some superdrug store do stock this product however if it is closer to you.
Apart from what i mentioned in my opinion of the product, i have found that a majority of the time the bourjois range is on 3 for 2 in boots and superdrug so i will pick up three tubes for price of two so i've always got a spare when one runs out with out having to go back in to town.
I am quite a fan of the Bourjois products. They fall into the not so cheap catagory, so you know it isnt going to be a cheap and nasty product.
The Effet 3D is a think lip gloss in a variety of shades. They are colourful and quite distinct. I currently use a brown glittery one and doesnt expose a bright floursent colur on my face!
The gloss itself is quite thick and I would go as far to say as gloopy. It is applied easily with the 'wand' and does create high volume and high shine as the advert suggests. This is however, if you dont talk, lick, kiss, or touch anythign with your lips. It is very prone to transfer onto clothing, glass and onto others easily. Its not a gloss to stay for very long. As the product suggests, it is for 'effect'.
The brush/wand does start to fray after long useage. This doesnt mean that it doesnt do the job.
In our local boots this product ws on offer for £4.29 when I bought it. There are colour ranges being distributed all the time to keep up with the latest trends.
There is also a mobile version which is a mini version.
I am quite a fan of the Bourjois range in general and have quite a collection of the blushers and the eye-shadows and also use the loose powder so it would be fair to say that they are one of my favourite drugstore ranges though they are a little pricier than some of the others. So some time ago when lip-gloss was the big thing at the time Bourjois brought out these Effet 3D glosses and drawn in by the pretty colours I decided to buy a couple.
They currently have twelve different colours available according to the Bourjois website. The two shades I bought are still in production so I suppose they are quite popular. They are 03 Rose Idyllic and 05 Rose Angelic. Both are very pretty shades, 3 especially which is the epitome of sweet baby pink and 5 which is a muted red. Both are shimmery which can be seen immediately upon picking up the bottles. I quite like the look of these tubes, they are clear mostly except the lid which is gold and then the colour and shade number is indicated on the end. On the front it promises 3 dimensional shine. When you unscrew the lid you find a brush applicator. I am not really a fan of brush applicators as I find them harder to control because the bristles can splay in different directions and make the application uneven or they can get gunged up or distorted in shape by constantly being pushed in and out of the bottle. I really prefer to use sponge wands.
As I said before the brush applicator means it takes longer to get a good application as I find getting an even line more difficult. Once applied however it does look nice but it is quite shimmery and reflective so perhaps best to avoid if you like to go for the neutral look. The colours are lovely on especially the pink which is the sort of colour that would suit the large majority of people and is an easy colour to wear. In terms of stickiness it isn't too bad, I find my hair doesn't get stuck as much as it does with my Juicy Tubes but it is stickier than my L'Oreal Glam Shines. Similarly in terms of lasting power these are neither amazing nor dreadful and tend to hang on until faced with food or drink, the downfall of most glosses.
Would I buy these again? Probably not. The glosses themselves are actually quite nice but the style of applicator just puts me off so I look elsewhere. If you like brush applicators then these may be worth a look. These cost about £6.84 in Superdrug and you can get a £1 or £2 off them sometimes if you spot a promotion.
Bourjois Effet 3D Collection is absolutely gorgeous!
What they say: "Glossy lips that shine in 3 dimensions. Discover a new dimension of light reflecting, pearlised tints that create a high volume, high shine result. A super glossy, sheer texture in luscious shades and a precision brush for sensational plumped-up lips."
Okay, I am positively glowing whilst I am writing this. I love finding a great product for my (endless!) collection!
What is more fantastic is the price! £6.84 for 7.5ml. You can buy it from ASOS.com, Boots, Superdrug, Lloyds Pharmacy, Tesco, Waitrose and Debenhams. It comes in 12 different shades:
Beige élastic 01 (light sparkly beige)
Brun galactic 02 (light sparkly brown)
Rose idyllic 03 (nude sparkly pink)
Rose emblématic 04 (light sparkly pink) - My favourite!!!
Rose angélic 05 (dark sparkly pink)
Mauve océanic 06 (Light purply sparkly pink)
Framboise énergétic 11 (dark strawberry pink sparkly colour)
Rose arctic 15 (pinky coral sparkly colour)
Beige théoric 16 (dark beige sparkly colour)
Praline ludic 17 (dark brown sparkly colour)
Transparent oniric 18 (transparent with sparkly bits)
Rose synthétic 19 (hot pink with sparkle)
The great thing about this lipgloss is it's not very sticky, and feels almost like a light lipstick on the lips! Result!!!!
Comparing this to MAC's "lipglass" (premium brand lipgloss), I prefer this in all honesty because it's cheaper, looks good, feels less sticky and has a great shine to it! It's like wearing diamonds on the lips.
So for French fashion at your fingertips, get yourself some Bourjois (you can even pick yourself some when you are doing the food shop!). Treat yourself! I did! At £6.84 you can't really go wrong! If you want to take a closer look at the colours I reccommend you visit their official site: http://www.bourjois.co.uk/lips/gloss/65
In my quest to find the perfect lipgloss I have certainly come across the good, the bad, the ugly! I'm pleased the say Bourjois 3D Effect Lipgloss is one of the good!
The lipgloss is available in most cosmetic stores and retailers. Boots sell this for £6.84. Its also part of their current offer for £10 for 2 Boujois products, so you can pick up a nice bargain.
The packaging is very simple. Gold lid and a clear tube so you can see the colour of the lipgloss. The tube is curved as is the lid. I really like this as because the lid is narrower at a point and it means its easy to grip onto when you are applying the lip gloss. With some products I find that if the lid is chunky and the same width all of the way down I end up with lipgloss all over my face!! (maybe this is just me though as I am a bit of a "special case")
Application is easy with the "precision" brush". Personally I prefer a sponge type applicator. I feel with the brush on this product makes you apply slightly too much of the product so you need to wipe off some of the product, back into the tube before you apply to your lips which can be a bit of a pain.
The claim is that :
"Bourjois Effect 3D Lip Colour provides super gloss, high shine and beautiful texture in luscious shades with a precision brush for sensational plumped-up lips."
I totally agree that the product achieves really glossy shades and the pearlescent colour achieves a great looking texture. However the plumped up part may be a bit of an exaggeration. Lips look fuller because they are shiny, however unlike some lip glosses it doesn't make lips look or feel plumped up . The lipgloss doesn't stay on lips for ages like some of the more expensive lipglosses do (i.e. Dior or Chanel) and after an hour you will probably need to reapply as lips will look less shiny and the colour disappears. If you are drinking or eating you may need to reapply more often.
The overall effect is fantastic shiny lips without an awful sticky or slimy feel on the lips. Because of my skin tone the browner shades just don't look right and make me look a bit ill but the pink shades are great and are colourful but still quite neutral. These colours are number 3 Rose Idylic and number 6 Rose Symphonic! Definitely well worth the money and achieves shiny glossy lips and a gorgeous pout!
I started using "Bourjouis 3d effect" 2month ago; I've purchased other bojour products such as the eye shadows and I really liked them so I already had a positive view on Bourjouis make-up as I felt they delivered good quality products with a great range of colours to choose from.
My friend recommended I tried out this lip-gloss as its one of the best lip-glosses Bourjouis offers.
I spent £6.95 on this product, this pricing is reasonable as its made by a reliable make-up brand and the after effects of this lip-gloss are excellent.
What does the promo say about the lip-gloss?
Discover a new dimension of light reflecting, pearlised tints that create a high volume, high shine result. A super glossy, sheer texture in luscious shades and a precision brush for sensational plumped-up lips.
Here's a selection of shades Bourjouis offers in this lip-gloss, most of these lip glosses are pale pinks and nudes so there great for anyone who has dark lips who wants to tone the colour down a little.
~~~ Pout power ~~~
My lips look so plump when I wear this lip-gloss. It's probably because shiny which made them look a lot bigger then they usually are. I think it creates a really glamour pout as light reflects from the gloss at all angles.
This lip-gloss has a average staying power, it stays on for up to an hour which is quiet good for a lip-gloss, obviously I would defiantly expected a lot longer for a lipstick as most lipsticks are matte.
Taste and Scent
The taste isn't too bad compared to my other lip glosses.
The smell isn't that bad either, I've bought lip glosses in the past and the taste and smell were revolting,
My verdict of this product
Bourjouis lip-gloss is one of my favourite lip glosses. My lips look very glamorous and leaves my once dried lips smooth and moisturized
I love the light-weight feeling of this product it's not too heavy and my lips don't have that cheap sticky feel to them.
I bought the Effet 3D high shine lip gloss by Bourjois Paris in the shade 'Rose Emblematic' for about $15-$20 from Sephora. The shade was a shimmery pink colour that looked gorgeous in the bottle but quite subtle on the lips, so I had to apply a lot to see a bolder colour. However, the shade was very flattering on my skin tone whether I am pale or back from vacation, and I liked this versatility.
The application of the gloss is a breeze, because the applicator is a lip brush that glides smoothly over the lips for flawless application every time. The gloss is very shiny and super smooth, so it isn't goopy or unpleasantly sticky at all. I loved the texture of the gloss and how smooth it felt on my lips. I also prefer to use this product after applying a nude or light pink lip liner first, as it can stray outside of the natural lip lines. Another great benefit is the moisturizing oils in the product that keep lips supple and smooth.
The gloss is very shiny and flattering, however, it doesn't last very long and has to be re-applied repeatedly throughout the day. Other than the lasting power of the gloss, the product is quite shiny and an overall great gloss. The bottle does last a long time, as I have owned the product for over a year ago and it still isn't finished. Overall great gloss, for shine and colour, however, it is not very lasting on the lips. The various shades of the glosses range from sheer and shimmery to bold and dazzling, and most colours are very flattering on any skin tone.
