This product is new to the Bourjois Paris range and states that if you are looking for volume, length and fully fanned out lashes then this is the product for you. This is a new innovative product from Bourjois and they haven't yet released a product in the range with a fan shaped brush such as this one. The brush helps to capture and coat every lash in just one stroke for a fanned out, volumising effects from the inner to the outer corners of the eye. The formula is enriched with silk extracts which helps the intense black colour glide onto lashes easily. Although it states you only need to apply one coat to get the full effect of the mascara it can also be applied layer upon layer without any clumps, which leaves lashes volumised. The product was tested on 32 volunteers and 84% agreed that that the brush is easy to use and it makes eyes look bigger as well as fanning out lashes. This product is apparently suitable for people with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. The mascara comes in bright purple packaging which is more of a flat shape rather than a round tube. The writing on the tube is black and on the front it states that this gives the effect of fanned out lashes. On the back of the packaging it states that it has a fan-shaped brush and contains silk extracts in its formula. Most of the tube is quite flat but goes slightly fat towards the middle of the tube. The lid to the tube is very flat and has Bourjois Paris engraved onto the edge of the lid.

I purchased this from my local Boots store where it is price at £9.99, how-ever all the products in the Bourjois range are buy 1 get 2nd half price, so I actually purchased this along with another mascara.
Using the Product

Due to the shape of the lid I wasn't sure how easy it was going to be to apply the product as I am used to holding a round wand rather than a flat shaped one. The brush doesn't cover the whole wand and only covers one side of it. The bristles on the brush is a fan like shape and the comb is made from a plastic material rather than actual bristles like I am used to using. I unscrewed the top from the tube and I spent a good minute or so working out how to actually hold it as I wasn't used to a flat lid and personally I think this made it a little awkward to hold. I applied one coat of the mascara and although it looked as though it had fanned my lashes out a little, I decided to apply 2 coats. After doing this my lashes looked better. They were still fanned out but looked slightly bolder and blacker which is what I prefer when it comes to mascara. I definitely think that my lashes looked more fanned out than other mascara's I have tried. I did use eyelash curlers before applying the mascara so this also helped to give my lashes a slight curl as well. The mascara stayed looking great all day and didn't flake off. I liked that my lashes were not only fanned out but had volume in them as well. My lashes had the fan look throughout the whole day even after going to the gym for an hour. Even when rubbing my eye (forgetting I even had mascara on), the mascara didn't smudge or cause black marks around my eye. I have quite sensitive eyes and I found the mascara to be gentle without causing any irritation. I used a Simple Facial wipe at the end of the day to remove the mascara. The mascara was really easy to remove and I didn't need to rub my eyes too much before the mascara came off. The mascara comes off easily as it's not waterproof. I'm not sure if they do a waterproof version or not as it doesn't mention this on the Bourjois Paris website.

The packaging to the mascara is quite unique due it being quite flat. I'm not really sure I like the design of this as it makes it awkward to hold when trying to apply the mascara. When applying the mascara for the first time I wasn't too keen on the design on the brush, how-ever I have got used to this as I have now used the mascara a few times. The mascara is really effective in terms of fanning out the lashes and I love this look it gives to my lashes. I would recommend using eyelash curlers with the mascara to give your lashes a slight curl and some volume. I wear this mascara during the day as it is quite natural looking. If I was to wear the mascara in the evening I would probably put at least 3 coats on to make my lashes look blacker and slightly more made up. Although some people may find the mascara quite pricey I would purchase it again as I have been impressed with the way it fans out my lashes. This is a product I would highly recommend to others.
