When it comes to lipsticks and glosses, well anything that involves putting stuff on my lips I really am not a fan and I never have been. I hate the feeling of stuff on my lips however sometimes it really is necessary to have something on them.......I think I'd look pretty odd when going out with a full face of make up on and completely nude lips after-all!
I appreciate good quality make up. Getting on for forty now I feel that I deserve good quality when it comes to cosmetics, when I was younger it was all about variety, colours and keeping up to date with make up but now I don't mind paying a bit more for something decent because I no longer buy make up for fun and make considered purchases on things that I feel I need.
When it comes to the majority of my make up I tend to buy Boots Natural Collection for day wear and Max Factor for night though I do occasionally find something from other makeup ranges and buy that although that isn't all that often nowadays usually but I have found a range called Dainty Doll and do own a few bits and pieces from that range as well. I know what I like and those three ranges usually provide whatever it is that I'm looking for and I'm happy with Boots Natural Collection prices and quality for day wear and don't mind coughing up more for Max Factor for evening wear in the main and Dainty Doll make up is great for anytime wear!
This though was an impulse buy when mooching on Amazon quite a long time ago now for a couple of new lipsticks. I checked my usual brands and couldn't see any thing that tickled my fancy and this randomly got shown to me and I liked the appearance of it in the picture and the price was only a couple of pounds which included postage and packaging (this colour I have now retails still on Amazon for £3.88 including postage and packaging by the way).
The lip tint comes in a plastic container with the lid being as almost as big as the base that holds the colour. It twists on and off with ease and under that and sitting in a hole to the colour you get a long white, thin sponge applicator that has a solid see through handle to it. On the front of the pot we are clearly told what it is and who it is by and then on the base of it the size is stated (8.5ml), we are told that from once opened to use it up within 12 months of doing so and contact details the manufacturer are clearly stated. This doesn't look anything like other lipsticks or anything for my lips that I own and makes me think when I look at it that its styled like you would expect a nail polish to be and I am impressed that its such a nice large size, robust and I can see the colour at a glance as its made of see through plastic. However the only thing I don't appreciate is that on the little pot the colour isn't stated which personally I'd rather know so its simple to reorder but I'm lucky...I do at least remember the colour that I ordered it in and now own!
Using this is ever so simple. You can use it on its own and directly to the lips, you could apply lip pencil first or you could use it over a deeper colour of lipstick, me I use it as we are meant to and that's simply straight onto my lips with the applicator provided. This is very smooth and feels a little, but not hugely greasy as I apply it. It glides on and the applicator it comes on soaks up the colour and I smear or dab it on. Within a few seconds it dries a bit, staining the lips in a natural sort of way. My colour isn't in your face or garish and when on I cant feel it at all thankfully.
What I love about this lip tint is not only is the colour reasonably light but its really is highly pigmented in colour at the same time. It isn't a watery or thick lip tint and like I say when its on I cant feel it and it certainly doesn't dry my lips out. Once on I can eat, drink, smoke and kiss and I never get any transfer as the colour seeps into my skin and it stays put without smudging or 'bleeding' into my little lines I have around my lips for a good 2-3 hours.
As I hope you can tell by review I am really, really pleased with this lovely lip tint. It goes matt, I can't feel it and it gives my lips a wonderful colour that stays around for a very good length of time! I have no quibbles with it and wear this at the moment most days and I like this colour so much I even wear it to go out of an evening! Its great!
Please Google for a list of stockists for this, there is a good amount of colours to choose from and my shade is called Rouge Futuriste just for the record lol.
I use this as my every day lipstick and I am very impressed with it. I've had my pot now for probably about two years, and with daily use, it has never ran out, so it is much longer lasting than a conventional lip stick.
Rather than being a lipstick, it stains the lips with a matt finish. In fact, it looks as though you aren't wearing any lipstick at all as it looks so natural on.
The major disadvantage of this is that it stains anything that it touches. I'm not sure why, but I always get it on my tounge (it tastes bad as well), and if I ever get a bit on my fingers, it stains there. It does eventually rub off, but the product is true to its form and will stain any flesh that it touches. I've never split any on clothes, but I suspect that it would stain there as well. Being water based, it should wash out easily.
I would recommend this to a friend as I think it looks very natural on, and doesn't look heavy.
I purchased this Bourjois liptint from Boots in a colour called Rose Futuriste, quite a mellow pink shade. Over the past year and a half, I've used this product almost every day and have to say it is lasting very well as I still have it. As for the effects, this liptint feels just like water upon application, and dries just as quickly, leaving a matte finish on the lips. It lasts on my lips all day, even when eating, providing me with lovely colour without having to reapply throughout the day as I would with a sticky lip gloss or lipstick. I have to say for the price I paid, (around £7 to £8) it is a great product that does the job excellently. I sometimes like to apply clear lip gloss or balm over the liptint which I feel gives the lips a nice shine as well as helping retain the colour well.
I was actually made to wear this lip gloss during one of my final performance with my local out of school theatre company. Even though it's suppose to have a wet looking lips without making them look sticky - it actually did the job. I think the target of the product is that it it suppose to high-light your lips rather use it as a lip gloss. When I first applied it, it did show a clear glossy shine which made my lip look shiner and glossier, however after a few minutes my lips felt dry as if were lips were a bit scabby, and the feeling of it felt rough on my lips and it wasn't that comfortable either. So I had to find a lip gloss that would cover it up and sadly it was a very sticky gloss, but at least it was more comfortable! However, I have seen this product in shops such as boots and superdrug and I couldn't believe that a product that would make your lips dry and chapped was so over priced! I was really shocked! Also they didn't have a huge range of colours, they seemed to be the same ones just with darker or lighter shades.
So, if you are ever buying a bourjois lip gloss some time soon or in the future - try not to buy this one as it is a too expensive and it doesn't do a good job, unless you want a lip gloss that high lights your lips then maybe buy this one, but I personally don't think it's worth buying. So in my opinion I won't buy this lip gloss again, even if was the only lip gloss in the world! (sorry if I'm sounding too negative, but the truth hurts sadly!) I would rather op for another bourjois lip gloss such as 3d effect.
I bought the hi-tech lip tint in Rose Pixel shade as I wanted an alternative to lipstick for a lighter, summer look. I have been impressed with it as it has pretty good staying power and a natural feel and look.
I do find it rather drying and as I usually find lip glosses too sticky I put a dab of Vaseline Lip Therapy on top which imparts a light sheen and keeps my lips moisturised nicely.
I prefer to define my lips with a lip pencil first 'cos I'm knocking on a bit and need the definition! The lip pencil I amusing is Boots No7 in the Blush shade which I think is perfect with the lip tint shade.
It's good to know that Amazon has the lip tints and I'll be checking them out for further supplies as I paid a lot more for the one I have. It clearly is advantageous to visit the high street to decide what shade you want then compare prices on the internet.
Bourjois Rouge Hi-Tech is a lip stain, which is apparently water based. I do not know what other lip stains are made of, but I assume this makes it somewhat different, else I'm sure they wouldn't have mentioned it.
They are available in Boots, Superdrug, and according to the banner on the side of my screen, Amazon. In Boots this will set you back around £7.29, but the banners suggest Amazon pricing is between £2.50 and £3.50. It is available in five colours: Rouge Futuriste, a natural looking pink; Rose Pixel, looks bright / dark coral in the bottle, but can be built up to a va-va-voom red; Groseille Irréelle, a really dolly pink; Cyber Cassis, a purple / plum colour; and Praline Digitale, a pale ish brown. I own both Rose Pixel and Groseille Irréelle. I believe that the colours would suit everyone, as they allow the natural lip colour to show through, unless you have 4+ layers on.
The packaging is simple and stylish, a small pot which will easily fit into the dinkiest of handbags. The design is good; the lid unscrews to show the applicator, which has a triangular shaped... holding piece (sorry, stuck for words, the bit of the applicator that you hold, as opposed to the bit you use to apply the product to your lips) so it can be held easily between 3 fingers, the applicator rests dipped into the liquid. It would be very difficult to spill any of the stain, as there is only a tiny hole where it could escape, which is plugged by the applicator.
Application is very easy. I actually find it tickles quite a lot, as the end of the applicator is quite soft and fluffy. It goes on very thinly, so you can modify the look from subtle to bold. Each layer visibly strengthens the colour, I wear about 4 layers for a strong look. The applicator allows you to apply easily with precision, and the stain dries within about 10 seconds - and then it's stuck fast for the day. It is very comfortable to wear - feels like you're wearing nothing at all, which may feel dry if you're used to gloss.
It can be worn alone, for a matte "just bitten" look, or it looks quite pretty with an iridescent gloss on top. I also often use these under lipsticks on a night out. It's much safer than attempting to reapply lipstick precisely after 6 glasses of wine - I don't need to worry, knowing that even if the lipstick has worn off, the stain will still be there.
Overall, I would recommend this product as a very good alternative to the likes of Benetint. It does what it says on the tin, is far cheaper, and has a better colour range. (I also sometimes use Rose Pixel on my cheeks, and it works just fine!)
I'm not a big fan of lipstick/tint as I prefer to emphasise my eyes but I saw the colour of this product (84 - Rose Pixel) and had to buy it! It's a really fresh colour and looks great on most people. Me and my friend both bought it (I'm blonde, fair skin & she's mixed race) and it looked good on both of our skintones.
When applying the product I found it took a few coats to get good coverage but the colour wore off really quickly and it looked a bit patchy. It also left my lips quite dry. I like to put vaseline over the top to help seal in the colour and moisturise my lips, but if you want your lips to look matte then obviously this won't work for you.
This product is overall quite good but I think there's probably better ones out there that will last longer and give you better value for money.
I bought this after usually buying the Benefit posie lip tint, as seeing as this was about £10 cheaper I decided to give it a go!
PRICE: You can pick this up in superdrug for about £6.99 which is a bit steep, but if you search online (ebay, amazon, CCO) you can purchase this for about £4.00. I would not say the product is worth the full £6.99.
PACKAGING: The packaging is average looking, however it isnt very practical. I carry alot of make up around with me and I occasionaly do make up for photoshoots etc, and this is very fragile plastic. This can very easily break and shatter and if it were to do this in a bag or a make up case it would clearly stain all products it comes in contact with - not good! The stain comes with a plastic spatula style applicator which I also dislike, it claims the spatula 'ables you to create a perfect application' which is not true. It is best to use this with a lip brush.
PRODUCT: The product when I first applied it with the spatula looked AWFUL. It ran off my lips and tasted horrid, it also went on very uneven and made parts of my lips darker than the rest. It outlined all imperfections in my lips and made then look very dry. However, I removed it, applied vaseline for 10 minutes and then applied it again with a lipbrush. This time it applied okay and more even, but even still the colour was not great and my lips still looked dry. The stain comes in about 8 different shades - but they are practically all the same when applied on the lips. The stain also does not stay on for very long, after one drink of water it had came of in parts of my lips and looked horrid.
I would not reccomend this lip stain to anyone, especially anyone with dry lips! Not worth it, instead, try the benefit Posie tint.
I just bought Bourjois Rouge hi - tech just yesterday. I got shade no. 84 - rose pixel.
I am usually apprehensive about wearing red and so I stick to natural colors, but this shade is so pretty and natural! Infact it really makes my lips look better. I can't wait to wear it tonight!
It does make the lips dry, but the lady at the counter advised me to wear clear gloss over it. It looks fantastic with any gloss, even with a lil shimmer.
And the shade stays on for very long. So you can eat, drink and kiss without the colour running off. The best part is that it doesn't bleed or smudge and you can use it without any lipliner, which is great!. They also have a couple of other really nice shades which i'm thinking of picking up soon, especially the coral and pink ones.
I really like this product as it gives a subtle wash of colour which is perfect for summer time. It's really easy to use and there's no need for fiddly lipliner first. The colours are really wearable and suit most skintones as they are so subtle, I tried the oink and the orange and they both looked extremely flattering. The only problem with this product is that after continual use it makes your lips feel extremely dry and because of this I stopped using it and found a moisturising lipstick which although looked less natural, does not dry my lips out. I also found after a while that the colour 'collects' on the edges of the mouth, looking a little strange after a days wear. This is great for being on the go, parties, barbecues and festivals because it won't smudge but for day to day wear I would say its a no.
Today I perchased Bourjois Hi-tech Liptint in Rose-Pixel. I was really impressed with the results! Once I applied one coat, my lips did feel a little dry, so I applied a layer of clear lipgloss over the top and it was perfect!
So far I have been wearing it about 3 hours and I have had coffee and some lunch and the colour of the lipstain is still there and hasn't washed off at all. I just keep applying the clear gloss over the top and it looks great.
I have in the past bought Benefit's 'Benetint', but I did not like the shade, I thought it was rather too shocking red and the price was a little high also. This product though is a budget option and also comes in four different shades.
I feel that the liptint is great, but I do miss the moisturising feel of a lipstick. I would definitely wear this when I am with my boyfriend because I hate to get lipstick all over his face - it really isn't a good look!
Once again I was in Boots. Wishing to channel a 40s inspired Keira Knightly in the film "The Edge of Love" I was searching for a lip stain. Although I am a fan of the lip stain "Benetint" by Benefit cosmetics I didn't think my bank balance could withstand another plundering so I was on the prowl for a cheaper alternative.
Flitting past the Benefit counter I alighted on the Bourjois display where I was met with "Rouge Hi-tech". The display proclaimed Rouge Hi-tech to be a water based lip tint. The words "lip tint" cast doubt inside me. Would it have the full bodied colour I was after? I placed my faith in Bourjois and purchased it at an introductory price of £4.95 (usually £6.95).
Why purchase a lip stain opposed to a lipstick?
1.I wanted a natural matt look along the lines of "I've just eaten a plummet of strawberries and I have the lips to match".
2.If I did crave a glamorous intense red perfect for an evening look then I can layer the colour to my desired shade.
3.It is hard to go wrong with a stain application where as lipstick is far easier to get wrong and end up looking like Dracula.
4.Less re-applications when wearing a stain as it seeps into
the lips - more staying power!
5.It doesn't melt in the summer heat.
Rouge Hi-tech comes in around six different shades of red ranging from dusky reddish pinks to the richest of reds. I picked out the shade "Rouge Futuriste" which is a perky poppy red with orange undertones. This shade of red is perfect for all skin tones as it enlivens the complexion giving a natural bitten lips look. There was a darker more luxurious red I was torn between yet it had purple/blue undertones which really brings out imperfections in my pale skin yet on other skin tones it would look divine!
Applying the colour is easy as it comes with a sturdy applicator wand. It has a pleasant fresh sent which is slight and not overpowering in the least. It feels like you are drawing on your lips with a felt tip pen as the formulation is water based. It takes around ten seconds to dry on the lips so you can get nice even coverage before it dries. One application will easily last you the whole day and once dried in it barely comes off when eating or drinking leaving your rouge smile intact.
Originally I wanted to create a modern day 40s land girl look fit for wearing with a nice floral tea dress and oversized jumper. Yet this product is so versatile that it could be the perfect finish to any kind of look from natural to full volume glamour. Although I have found with this product its best to skip the blush or you are at risk of resembling a swollen tomato (actually that's probably just me and my lack of cheek bones :D).
The packaging is modern yet still has the cute charm which I expect from Bourjois products. It comes in a little curved, plastic pot (much like the shadows Suivez mon Regard) and the barrel matches the shade which is contained inside. I love the applicator which has a see through handle and is shaped perfectly for the fingers.
I wouldn't say that a lip stain is a vital part of a woman's make up bag but it is certainly a lovely item to have. It can rival Benefits Benetint at a fraction of the price and it comes in a variety of shades to suit every colour combination. I was thoroughly pleased with the price I purchased it at although I think I will not purchase it again as I am now a poor student and it is not a make-up necessity. Also I do believe that this product will last me a very long time as a little goes a long way.
Water based liptint that is light, yet full of colour /
