Advantages: Lovely little pot, compacted blusher applies an even coverage, excellent price

Disadvantages: None for me

Being extremely pale I struggle to find make up that suits me, but when I do, I've got a friend for life. It's rare that I will stray and often stay loyal to that specific brand / product. That couldn't be more true than for the Bourjois blushers which I absolutely adore.

Available pretty much everywhere, the price always seems to stay around the £7.50 mark. Occasionally it may be on a promotion from Bourjois, but I think the price is spot on. I literally can get around a years worth of use out of one these little pots, as although they look small, the compacted product seems to last and last. Although they are available pretty much at all beauty outlets, you may find that the range of colours may be reduced in smaller shops. There are 12 colours available, including various pinks and golden colours.

I like Bourjois as a range as a whole as you are pretty much left alone when browsing. I don't mind paying higher prices for beauty products (in fact last night I bought a tiny little pot of cream from the beauticians for £33 much to my husband's bemusement), however what I cannot abide is the women who work for the high end companies such as Lancome etc, who I often find very intimidating (sorry if you are one of these women!!). So much so that I avoid them at all costs, despite not minding the price. Instead I seem to always make my way back to the Bourjois section, as I find that it is of a higher end quality but you can browse and paint your hand galore with lipsticks, blushers and eye shadows (why do we do that!??) without so much as a peep out of any staff. For this reason I have stayed extremely loyal to Bourjois over the years and tried nearly all of their products. The packaging for me is fantastic and the blusher is one of my favourites in its tiny little pot complete with mirror and applicator brush.

The little gold clasp finishes the pot off nicely and gives it a nice luxurious but modern look. It won't open inside your make up bag causing everything to be coated in pink, but it isn't difficult to open either (on one emergency purchase of blusher - Barbara Daley I think at Tesco - I practically had to prise it open with a knife - a definite no no).

As I mentioned, the product itself is compacted, but in a domed shape which seems to make getting the product on the brush so much easier. The little compact blusher brush works surprisingly well, and fits snugly inside the pot over the domed product. Slightly curved in shape I find it fits nicely between the fingers and isn't fiddly to use despite its small size. It also gives a nice even coverage on the skin and may just require a little blending around the edges as it can sometimes give a striped application which isn't a great look. I find that for best results you need to smile to accentuate the cheeks and then apply the product with small circular motions. I don't use powder often but I have a stash in case I over do the blusher, you can simply apply a coat of powder over the top and voila!

I quite like how each shade of blusher has its own different colour pot so you don't have to microscopically look at labels or shades underneath. I can confidently pick up the pot now that I use as I know which particular shade of pink it is that I need, and I think this is a neat little feature. This seems to be mirrored across the range, that the packaging is feminine and creative, and it really is a pleasure to carry this around.

It removes easily with the usual skin care regime on an evening. For a natural look it will last most of the day but may require a little top up mid-afternoon. With the pot having a mirror inside this isn't a problem as you can apply on the go.

A little pot of gorgeousness.
