Advantages: Very waterproof, two steps for long lashes, good quality brushes, easy to get hold of.
Disadvantages: Watery formula can be messy to apply, quite difficult to remove.
I recently attended my school prom and due to the fact that make-up does not touch my face, I was a little unsure about what to use. However, with the help of my older sister, I decided on Maxi Frange mascara in noir volcanique (Black to you and me!). I paid around £8.50 for it in Boots due to the fact that both my sister and the shop assitant assured me that the results I would get would be worth it and to be honest, I am glad I brought it because I use it nearly everyday now and I love it.
I have to admit, one of the things I adore about this mascara is its beautiful packaging. The double ended bottle is blue and pearlised giving it a shiny eye-catching effect. The flowers on it also enhance its girly, feminine look. The fact it is waterproof is another thing I really like about it.
The end that contains the white base coat has a comb instead of a conventional brush which I found unusual because I had only ever seen brushes being used for mascara. However, it made the base easy to apply. The formula itself was thick and it went over my lashes well although I did have to apply quite an amount to coat my lashes sufficiently enough to see an effect once the black top coat was put on. The black top coat had a brush instead of a comb and although the mascara formula was thin and quite watery, it went on very well and did not seem to clump at all. However, I did have to apply a lot of it due to the fact that some of the white base coat was still showing though. I think this was because I have a dark Medittereanien/olive complexion and dark brown hair and eyelashes so if you are blonde or have a lighter complexion, you may not have this problem. Unlike many mascaras that promise to be "waterproof", this one actually kept its promises and didn't budge the whole night even with me in tears several times!
The only other problem that I have with this mascara is the fact that I have used the black end quicker than the white end so the mascara may not be the best value for money or the most economical. It is also quite difficult to remove, even with a waterproof make-up remover. However, the results are definitly worth the money and I love this mascara. It comes in three colours; Noir Volcanique (Jet black), Bleu Bora Bora (Bright blue. Very similar to the colour of the bottle actually) and Vert Honolulu (Turquoise). I have tried the Bleu Bora Bora since then and was delighted with the results although due to its bright colour, it is definitly not something I would wear everyday.
I would definitly recommend this mascara to anyway that wants a reliable waterproof mascara and long, show-stopping eyelashes at the same time.
Summary: A great mascara for anyone that wants the security of waterproof and long lashes at the same time.
