When it comes to eyeliner Im a black kohl kind of girl. Its so simple yet very effective and can change the whole appearance of your eyes but I keep reading brilliant things about metallic liners and how they are going to be "the next big thing" so I thought Id get ahead and try a few out for myself starting with "Bourjois Metallic Eyeliner" which I bought to wear for a night out a few weeks back. I never thought for a second I would really like it and even use it for everyday wear! But that is what has happened and Ive even gone back to buy other shades because it was so great - damn you Bourjois making me spend loads of money!! LOL
Price: Around £2-£3
Stockists: Superdrug, Boots, Amazon ETC
Shades: Noir Effet Miroir (Black), Bleu Clinquant (Blue) & Vert Pepite (Green). There appears to be a brown shade in the picture but I have never seen that being sold myself - I own the Black & Blue pencils which is a good choice because one is great for the daytime and the other brilliant for night - but they can both be used all the time!
The pencils themselves are no different from your normal pencil liner. They will need to be sharpened eventually but Ive had mine for quite a while and I use them regularly and Ive not needed to just yet. The liner can be used on the top of your eye (in place of a liquid liner or eyeshadow) and also on the waterline or just underneath - for the best effects use it on all of them as it can make your eyes look really dramatic or colourful if you do it properly. The go on quickly and easily so you dont need to spend hours applying them and they last for hours (at least a whole night out) so you wont need to reapply very often at all.
I know a lot of people will think although the blue colour is very nice it wont be suitable for daytime as it is so bright and the same with the black being so dramatic but I have worn these both in the daytime and I think they look great. Particularly the blue as that is something I would never normally wear so it makes a really nice change especially if the weather is nice and sunny! But they are both perfect for the night time as well and the shimmer in the black offers a different look to the normal smokey eyes.
The metallic element of these liners isnt glittery or too much it just makes a nice change from block colour. The shimmer does stay put on your eyes and wont flake all over your face and rather than being really glittery it is a more subtle shimmer that can only really be seen when the light catches your eyes. Very subtle but makes a unique difference. I definitely recommend and Ill be trying out the Green shade as well in the future.
Thanks For Reading

I like Bourjois a lot as they're a quality brand that makes reliable and affordable cosmetics. I was intrigued by the sound of their metallic eye liner pencils and chose one to try in green, my favourite colour for eye make-up. They are available at most good cosmetics retailers, and I bought this from Boots at the cost of £4.29. I think this is a really good price as I've had loads of use out of it and it's a hardwearing product.
The eye liner is a standard pencil style, and comes with a lid to protect the soft point. The liner has a soft creamy texture and looks very brightly coloured. I thought it would be fun to add a bit of sparkle to my look and make my eyes stand out more. I chose green as it's my favourite colour, but this also works really well against brown eyes as it makes the colour stand out even more prominently.
Recommended directions for use: "To create maximum impact at a party, dazzle everyone with a flash of metallic colour on your eyes, with these waterproof metallic pencils. Whether you want to match your eye makeup to your new shiny dress, or make intense eye contact with the party guests, your eyes will not go unnoticed!"
The liner is very soft and spreads over the eyelids easily. You can either apply this to the upper eyelid close to the last line, or just underneath your eye to highlight and add colour. For a full impact, do both! You simply draw the line straight onto the eye lid and the texture makes it easy to sweep over the skin without having to apply pressure or drag at the skin. I can get a full, dense build up of colour with only one or two strokes so this is good as it lessens the irritation on the delicate skin around your eye area.
The green colour I have is marked as "55 vert pepite", and it actually comes out as more of a blueish teal shade on my skin. I was a little disappointed that it was not the deep jade green as shown on the packaging, but it still provides a burst of vibrant colour and I can mix and match it with other eye-make up products to create different looks. It does have a very metallic sheen, the shimmer is intense and reflects the light to give a very eye-catching look. It stands out well against a matte base and gives a unique finish that is different to normal eye liners.
The eye liner wears incredibly well, I would say it is the longest lasting make-up product that I own. It will not budge all day and will stay put all night too! It is waterproof and really holds up to wear throughout the day and no amount of bad weather or sweat can make it shift. I never have to touch it up through the day or night, and I can go out and have a fun evening without making frequent trips to check on my make-up and re-do it. This is perfect for festivals or long nights out when you want something that will work hard to keep in place and not have to worry about it. This liner is perfect for adding some colour to brighten your look, and is a practical, no-fuss item.
This product has really impressed me - it performs well, gives good colour and coverage, and is really easy to apply. I would definitely recommend these but if I was going to buy any more for myself I would make sure to test the colour and not just trust the packet!
Eyeliner with slightly metallic appearance retailing in the shops for circa £4. It comes in 4 shades: black, brown, green and blue.
It lasts - I have had mine for several months.
It is much more forgiving than firmer pencils and certainly liquid eyeliners as mistakes can be blended away.
Easy to apply, some pencils can hurt on application as you need to press quite hard but this goes on nice and easy.
Things to consider:
If you like a really defined lined from an eyeliner then this is not the product for you.
Requires regular sharpening - as it is soft and already has quite a smudgy effect it really needs to be kept quite sharp so that the line is not too exaggerated. It may be worth investing in a proper eyeliner sharpener as normal ones can cause the pencil to break.
Can rub off quite easily especially in hotter weather.
I found keeping mine in the fridge makes it slightly less smudgy if you want a more clearly defined line.
Since I first started wearing makeup I have always been a traditional black eyeliner kinda gal... that is until I came across the range of Bourjois Metallic Eyeliners.
The range first caught my eye when I was browsing through boots make department. I had always been a fan of Bourjois makeup anyway and I regually use the Bourjois blusher.
I decided to give the metallic blue eyeliner a go, I had seen different coloured eyeliners been used in magazines before and they always looked great.
The eyeliner I picked cost me £3.99 - a little bit more expensive than my usual black eyeliner.
The first time I used the eyeliner I was a little unsure as to where abouts to put it, inside my eye (where I usually put my black eyeliner) or on my eye lid and underneath my eye..?
I went for the 'around my eye option' which was definatly a good choice for me. The metallic blue colour made my brown eyes stand out so much - I receieved so many compliments on my new look and 'different' eye make up.
Although I do like the blue colour I picked out and it will last for a very long time, I also think I will try a few more different colours from this range.
Overall I would give this product a 9/10 - the only thing I would change is the price!
I am really keen of using coloured eye pencils you can use them alone or you can use them with black eyeliner. You can also put them inside your eyes and give them a fuller look.
The best thing about this collection is that it is metallic in colour with only three or four shades. It is favourite of Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker as was mentioned by ASOS. Some shops are offering three and some are adding charcoal as a metallic colour. Basically apart from charcoal that is actually black rest of the colours are really must have. They are infused with vitamin E and jojoba oil for silky smooth texture of the colour. They are alsowater proof and you can apply them all day long without the fear of their coming out and spreading on your face. They are ophthalmologically tested. It makes your eyes big and bright.
The price range is different for this colour pencil. Some merchandisers are giving pencils for £2 and an other for£5. Online the best buy is with Shop.com which is offering the pencil for £2. Ebay is also giving out the pencil but their prices are more than £3. ASOS is giving it for£4.25.
Its a must have for party girls
When it comes to eyeliner pencils I'm a bit of a traditionalist I guess. I like an eyeliner/kohl pencil for ease of use and usually wear black. I own a few different formulations and I own plenty of colours but I always seem to go back to my favoured pencil.
When it comes to going out I always feel undressed and unfinished without black eyeliner. I see other women wearing colours and feel envious but it's not of course that I can't achieve that look it's just allowing myself to go without the black! So when I'm getting ready to go out I'll pick up some kind of coloured eyeliner and always end up putting it back!
Well at the moment in Boots when you spend £5.00 in store you get a voucher for £2.00 off Maybelline or Bourjois products so I decided to treat myself to some new even stuff though I don't need it but I wanted to buy myself something to cheer myself up in this winter freezing weather and this caught my eye! This particular one I bought just simply because I loved the colour of it (I'm a real fan of turquoise!) and I just liked the look of the the pencil really.
It's a long thin plastic and recyclable pencil with matching pull on/off lid. The outer casing is the same colour as the colour you purchase so you can see at a glance what your picking up out of your make up bag. On the pencil itself there is silver writing all over it. I'm told it's Regard Effet Metallise, Bourjois, Paris. Then I'm told it's Metallic Eyeliner and the colour is stated (in my case it's 55 Vert Pepite). Then I'm told Ophthalmologically tested (and told it in French), given contact details for Bourjois and that it's made in Germany, the weight is stated (1.20g. Net wt 0.04 OZ) and finally around the base I'm told it Waterproof. As I said one of the things that drew my attention to this product with the packaging. It looks nice and although it has plastic outer casing which makes it robust and hardy it is made of wood and I like that about it.
So Using It...
Well I can use it under eye-shadows or whatever or on top of stuff. It's so simple to use it's unreal! The formulation is a shiny highly pigmented colour in all of the colours on sale. They are within this range metallic and this looks very shimmery, smooth and moist to look at whilst still on the pencil before application.
To use it of course you draw it on/and on the rims of the eyes. It's moist and thin so precision is a doddle. With a lot of pencil formulations I own the pencil is hard but with this you just press gently and the colour transfers and it's so moist you can actually sort of wiggle the pencil side to side and draw with it. I can't stress how easy this is to use really.
Even though it's moist I have slightly droopy top lids that can hit the pencil when it's applied but no transfer and when it's on if you touch with your fingers it drys so again no transfer but the colour remains incredibly glossy and doesn't look dried on as such, though it is.
I get no irritation and with any eyeliners I own I never colour within my eye rim because of skin irritation but with this I really can so I can create a couple of different looks with this one. I can use this just between eyelashes on the top and the bottom of my eyes or I can do that and do the inside rim of my eye or I can use black eyeliner on top and bottom of eyes and use this just on the rim of my eye for contrast. Which ever way I choose to wear it, it stays 'set' on my eyes till I remove it and without irritation in any way shape or form.
Mistakes are easy to correct (not that I've made any with this) and really it's just revolutionised my eyes! I absolutely think this is a marvel and I honestly can't wait to collect all the eyeliners from within this range! I've never used anything so easy to use, long lasting in the pencil and on the eyes and so versatile either. I can't stress how great this is to upgrade your look and transform your peepers! I'm not going back to black now! No chance!
Available in 4 colours which are black, blue, turquoise and a plum colour and I paid £5.86 for mine but redeemed a £2.00 off voucher! Excellent!
