Advantages: Powder

Disadvantages: Powder pot

I used to use Clinique's Blended Face Powder, untill I saw this powder on the Bourjois counter and thought that this could be just as good. Admittedly there was slightly less in this one, weighing in at 30g, compared to Clinique's 35g, but it was quite a bit less in terms of price, costing £9.75 compared to £18.

Firstly the packaging. The pot is black with with the brand name in bright pink lettering on the front and a lot of pink flower designs round the edge. This powder comes in two different shades, 01, sable elegant, and 02, rose chic. I chose the first as it is most like the transparent colour that I favour as I do not want the powder to change the colour of my makeup, simply to even it out.

When you open up the pot, you are met with a thin yellow looking sponge. It seems rather flimsy and inflexible and I can't imagine relying on this to apply the powder and I am glad I have my reliable big soft powder brush. Next comes a kind of sieve with a plastic border round the side. This reminds me of either a bee-keepers' outfit or the lint filter on a tumble dryer. Next comes a lid over the powder which you take off once you open the powder for the first time. However, there is a problem. Once you remove the lid and put the sieve in place you will find that the powder flies out of the side if you shake it because the sieve is just too small with a gap around the edge. Moreover as the sieve is not held in place it means you have to shake the pot with the lid on otherwise the whole lot would end up on the floor. Truly awful packaging.

Now to the powder. This is soft and light. In terms of quality I don't notice much difference between this and the Clinique one. It goes on very easily and should be applied with a light hand. I find it has a well milled texture and is nice and fine. I apply it straight over my foundation and it does an excellent job in evening out my complexion and giving it a more matte appearance.

The powder itself is good but the packaging is so bad that I would not buy this did I not still have the pot from the Clinique powder into which I pour it. One to avoid unless you have a suitable container.

Summary: Good powder but just terrible packaging
