Bourjois Pastel Lumiere Eye shadows are one of those under-rated make-up gems in my eyes. For years I had walked past the Bourjois make-up display in preference of other brands. However, not so long ago I read a magazine article in which a celebrity was raving on about the Bourjois eye shadows, so I thought I didn't have anything to lose by trying them out.


~~Initial impressions & aesthetics~~

Once in the store I was presented with quite a large variety of eye shadow shades, which is rarely a bad thing and each was costing around £5.60, which I believe it pretty reasonable for an eye shadow. You will pay £5 for a Boots No7 Eye shadow and about £10 for a Ruby and Millie one ( my 2 previous favourite choices) and so this compares well. All the shadows come in small round flip top pots in the colour of the shadow. On the side of the pot there is a little button that you press to open up the shadow. Inside there is the shadow and a carefully rounded applicator, which fits snuggly on top. The applicator handle is also matching colour to each pot. In general the appearance of the Bourjois shades was very good and they were not going to be of embarrassment in my make-up bag!!!

~~~In Practice~~~

The shadow is easy to apply with the provided applicator. However, in practice I have discovered that it actually goes on better with a finger as it is so fine. The powder is very tough in the sense that it never breaks up like other shadows do when it has been used for a while. However, whilst remaining touch it comes off very easily. This for me was one of the biggest advantages with Bourjois eyeshadow, it is long lasting and durable and even after being carried around it still remains in one piece. I have had a couple for nearly a year and they are both in one piece and they have lots left. There is little wastage with these shadows and so they work out very economical indeed.

In addition to this the shadows last the entire
day and have staying power. I can quite happily go to work in the morning and even out for drinks in the evening and come home with my eyeshadow pretty much how I left it.his has applied to all the shades I have used, both light and dark.

The shades also blend very well together, so you can create your very own shades to be that little bit different.

Importantly, although the shades last the day they are easy to remove as well with minimal effort.

~~Conclusions~~~

Bourjois Eyeshadows may come in small pots, but they last for ages, come in lots of shades and last the whole day. Of all eyeshadows I have tried to date I can honestly say that this is the one that I am most impressed with and one which I will be building my collection of as time goes on.
