Advantages: Great sparkly colours and not too expensive
Disadvantages: Can get everywhere no matter how careful you are
INTRODUCTION
I love trying new eye shadows and hate to say it but I buy quite a lot, use it once, then leave it sitting in the back of my drawer once I've found something better. This happened with this eye shadow as when I first bought it and used it I thought it was rubbish! But since my initial testing of it I have used it a lot more and found that it is quite a good quality product! The colour of this product I shall be reviewing is 03 Regard Rose
Or, which is a dusky pink colour. The Eye Shadow of 'Suivez Mon Regard' is loose powder.
BOURJOIS FAQ
Bourjois are a French company as you have probably guessed from the name! They tend to make high quality make-up products at moderate prices. The packaging of the products are pretty and feminine. The packaging and names are all in French with little or no translation to English a lot of the time. For more information on Bourjois products, please see the website: www.bourjois.co.uk
PRICE, AVAILABILITY & PACKAGING
This product sells for about £6.50 at standard price and is quite often reduced.
Bourjois products are quite widely available, Boots stock them and even the small Boots have this product even if there is a small selection of colours. Superdrug does stock Bourjois too but I've noticed that it's only really the bigger stores that do.
The eye shadows come in clear, plastic pots with a lid which you unscrew. As it is clear, you are able to see the eye shadow colour along the bottom of the pot. There is an brush applicator which stands vertically in the eye shadow surrounded by plastic with just the very tip touching the eye shadow. The idea is to shake the pots so that the brush picks up enough eye shadow, then you are to sweep this across your lids. There is a thin sticker across the middle in the same colour as the eye shadow, and it says 'Suivez Mon Regard..', which is the name of this range of eye shadow. It also gives you the instruction to shake before use to intensify the result. There are no ingredients or an address or anything.
One obvious problem I can see with this product is that you can't really tell how much eye shadow is left!
APPLICATION
The reason I gave up on this product is the fact that when you apply it you get a lot on your cheeks as well as on your eyelids! This is because it seems to falls off the brush quite easily. You could try not shaking it but then you don't get enough on your brush! The only thing I can recommend is if you lightly tap the brush against the top of the pot before you apply it as this will get rid of the excess eye shadow. Also it's good to keep a tissue or a cotton wool pad ready to wipe off any excess that gets on your face. In the defence of this product, most loose powders can get everywhere if you are not careful, and a lot of pressed powders can too. The brush is reasonably good quality, the bristles are soft and the handle is just the
right size to hold and glide over the eyes.
END RESULT
The colour seems to look more intense than it does in the pot, the pink is shiny, brighter and a little darker than I thought it would be. I think it looks great though. It's really well pigmented and makes your eyes glimmer and stand out. This eye shadow looks great on a night out and I think it is best suited for going out and those special occasions rather than for everyday wear. It lasts for most of the day but does seem to fade a little towards the end of the day.
I use this eye shadow maybe once every couple of weeks. I've still got some product left after two years, but can't really tell how much is left. The brush comes out covered every time though so there must be quite a lot left still!
If you don't get on with this product at all, Bourjois make another eye shadow product known as the 'little round pot of eye shadow', which is pressed powder and not quite so messy.
Summary: Great eye shadow, once you get used to it

- 20/10/07 I got a couple of these out of T J Hughes for about £1.50 each lol! A shimmery bronze and a purple-y one - you're not wrong about getting it all over your cheeks. I think there's a good reason though why there aren't many other pots and applicators like this about. x |
