“ Brand: Bourjois / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye / What it does: Smoothes / waterproof: yes „
I have owned one of these Bourjois Survoltee cream eye shadows for ages. I can't actually exactly remember when I bought it but it must be well over 5 years now (and I still have it!).
The eye shadow comes in a small 4ml tube. The body of the tube it made of a shimmery soft plastic which is the colour of the shadow inside. The lid is a dark bronzey colour and is ridged as it tapers towards the top. The entire thing is no longer than my index finger and in shape it resembles a tube of toothpaste. The design is good and I really like the fact that the colour is reflected in the packaging. This makes it something you can pick up in a hurry, without the worry of choosing the wrong shade.
The cream is similar in consistency to a relatively thick foundation but is shimmery in colour. To touch you can't actually feel any particles of glitter which is nice because this doesn't irritate your eyes. The cream is very smooth and soft, and it blends into your eyelid flawlessly. You can use it to create quite a subtle look with the smallest amount of cream or you can use more to create a very high impact look. I tend to blend a slightly darker colour into the outer corner to give them a contoured look. Overall though it does look really nice on and is a relatively versatile product depending on what shade you buy.
I bought mine in a gold/fawny shade that looks lovely. I'm not really an eye shadow person but this cream is super easy to use and really easy to adapt to the look you want. My only real issue with the eye shadow is that mine has come to separate slightly, there is now a slightly watery fluid that comes out prior to any cream coming out. I find if I just mix it on my hand then this gets rid of the problem but initially it can be a little frustrating.
I don't know if they still sell these at high street retailers any more since I bought mine ages ago. You can buy them from amazon though, but they do seem massively over priced. I don't think I would have paid any more than £5-£8 for this but they seem to be on amazon for closer to £15. Mine has lasted absolute years though so I guess it is still value for money.
A great cream eye shadow.
I bought the Bourjois Survoltee eyeshadow last summer before a trip to Mexico. I bought it from Sephora in the shade beige electrisant, which is like a creamy beige shade. The tiny squeezable tube costs about $10-$20 US, which is not bad considering that the product lasts fairly long and you only need a dab for intense colour. The eyeshadow is intended to be waterproof and mean to last up to 8 hours and it lives up to this phrase.
When I applied the product, it only took a tiny dab on each eye to get a bold, intense, electrifying colour. The consistency of the shadow is a creamy texture that glides effortlessly over each eye and dries to a satiny finish. The shade really made my green eyes stand out and flattered my medium skin tone. The colour stayed fresh looking all day, and did not need to be reapplied. I even wore it before hitting the beach for the day, and it lasted through heat, humidity, sweating and swimming, but the shade did fade slightly. I was so shocked at the lasting power of this product and would definitely buy it again.
The shadow also washed off effortlessly with a regular cleanser. I was so impressed with this product, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a gorgeous eye shadow that electrifies your eyes with colour, and lasts long. There are also many gorgeous shades to choose from that are available from Sephora stores, certain department stores, and online.
