I first bought this mascara a few years ago when it first came out. I love trying all the different mascaras on the market and though I have a few firm favourites I regularly restock and rotate what I used.
I love the bourjois brand, I think they offer real affordability (even for a student) but also high quality that you can rely on. I have used plenty of their products before and really have never have any terrible experiences. That is what prompted me to buy this mascara and it definitely paid off.
This mascara comes in a black tube. This is fairly standard for most mascaras, though this one has a sexy curve to it which makes it stand out from the other ones I used. I also really like the metal lid as this gives it a great and expensive finish which I really like. Overall the look of the packaging is stylish without being at all pretentious. I would definitely be happy to display this product, or carry it in my handbag.
The brush is a circular brush with evenly spaced bristles. The brush gets a really good coating of the mascara fluid which is relatively thick but still very wet. This mascara is the ultra black version which I really love, as I like a deep black mascara. The colour is really dark and definitely helps my lashes to look defined. The overall effect achieved with this mascara is of added length and volume. It also keeps the lashes separated, with minimal clumping. The mascara dries quickly and feels very solid, it doesn't flake after used which is really important and it is also relatively easy to remove (I take mine off with face wipes).
This mascara costs roughly £7.99 which is a fairly comfortable price point for me for a high street mascara. I love the effects of this mascara and it tends to last me a couple of months with each purchase which is very reasonable. There are definitely cheaper products out there, but the quality of these bourjois mascaras is consistent and that's why I return to the brand.
I do find that I won't always go for this mascara when I'm shopping for one. It's nice to know if nothing new and exciting is out on the market I have a reliable mascara I can always return to, but it isn't exactly a staple in my make up draw.
A perfectly good mascara that you can always depend on.
I have gone from being a make up newbie to make up junkie in the space of a couple of years.
I have been on a quest to find the 'one' when it comes to mascaras. I have tried them all. None of them measure up to this one.
I have been using this mascara for probably about a couple of years now and it's a staple in my make up bag. I honestly wouldn't buy anything else!
The thing I look for in a mascara is if it looks natural (but can be built up for more drama) and if it has staying power as I am a chronic eye rubber!
This mascara doesn't clump (which is one of my pet hates in macaras - when they look like you have coated your eyelashes in tar!) even when you are reaching the end of the bottle it remains the same as when you opened it.
It gives a very natural look but can be built up for a bolder effect. I usually apply just one coat during the day and a couple if I am going on a night out.
The mascara doesn't budge (even with me rubbing my eyes!) and doesn't need re-applying throughout the day.
It can be a little more expensive than standard drug store mascaras in the shops at around £8 to buy, but I usually stock up on it in Boots when they have their 3 for 2 offers on or buy it online!
This has to be the best mascara on the Market! Well, in my opinion it is anyway. This Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara has been part of my staple makeup bag for years now, it goes on beautifully! I don't have very long eyelashes and they are pretty fair too so I cannot go a day without using Mascara, I just feel so bare without it! This mascara is super black, doesn't clump and the brush is just the perfect size. It fans out lashes to make them look full and thick. I would recommend this product to any woman who loves beautiful long lashes! The price doesn't break the bank either and it is on offer a lot in boots and superdrug etc on a 3 for 2 so you could get the Volume Glamour Mascara, a gorgeous eyeshadow and then get a Rosie blusher for free! But when I get the 3 for 2 I usually just get the 3 Volume Glamour Mascaras as I couldn't bare running low of this little gem! By the way, don't pump your mascara, it pushes air into it and dries it out therefore it doesn't last as long.
As a woman with fair - and fairly short- eyelashes, I struggled to find mascara that gave me a dramatic and full effect, with no clumping. Or at least I did until I purchased Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara.
The mascara goes on easily, provides a wonderful rich black colour with no clumps and no mess. The mascara dries in quickly and doesn't leave your lashes feeling heavy or dry which I find other brands of mascara do. The mascara also has a lengthening and filling effect on the lashes. The wand is also designed well allowing accurate application without having to hover millimetres away from the mirror.
The only down side to this mascara would be that as the colour is so deep and rich, it is hard to remove with soap and water. I would hardly consider this a real hassle though as it comes off easily with eye makeup remover and 'Panda Eye' is a common problem with most mascaras.
I usually purchase Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara for around £8 in my local Boots and it lasts about 6 weeks with daily usage. I have tried other mascaras (some more expensive and some cheaper) and I never achieve the same fantastic results (and compliments) that I consistently get with Bourjois Volume Glamour.
I love having dramatic eye make up. I think it can really set an outfit off and it gives me a boost on a night out! I'm really in to the whole smoky eye look and black liquid eyeliner. But nothing sets the eyes off like a good old bit of mascara to really extend the lashes and make you look very feminine and lovely! I've had a bit of bad luck with mascaras lately too. There are a lot around that add noting but lumpiness and stickiness to the lashes so it was refreshing to stumble upon Volume Glamour by Bourjois!
I've never really bought much make up from Bourjois, this has been just because I thought their cosmetics were a little out of my price range, but I had seen and admired from afar all the cool packaging and whatnot. It is a really trendy brand!
The packaging of this mascara is pretty cool and curvy and the handle is easy to use as it is thickest at the top and the bit you hold closest to the wand is thinner to allow you more control when you're applying. The actually mascara liquid is of a good consistency, it's not too thick so that it causes lumps, it's just the right steadiness.
The brush itself if thicker at one end and the tip is smaller. This makes really going in to the corner of the eyes easy and quick to brush over. I dislike the mascara brushes that are the same size from tip to end as I find it takes longer to master all of the lashes.
Once applied the eye lashes look noticeably longer and fuller (without looking clumpy) hooray! They look darker and generally more full and glamorous. I use this mascara for day and night time as I find it is generally a bit of a life saver. Some women I'm sure would rather use mascara just for the glam night time look and this mascara can definitely be used to achieve the going out look.
I bought the 12ml mascara online from Fragrance Direct. I bought it after reading a couple of reviews on here from other Dooyoo-ers who had rated it a whooping 5 stars. It cost me £4.50 (very good!) its RRP is £7.99. ITtretails for that in Superdrug and Boots as well I think though I couldn't find it on their website. Superdrug are also currently doing a 3 for 2 deal on Bourjois cosmetics according to their website.
I would definitely recommend this mascara. It honestly does what it says on the tin. If you want full and non clumpy but noticeably longer lashes I suggest you invest!
I know I write a lot of reviews on mascaras which in turn means I have used quite a few from loads of different brands but in my eyes (see what I did there?) nothing comes close to this one. My mom gave me a tube of this that she received in a gift set a few years back and Ive been using it pretty much ever since and I buy it ALL the time in fact I must have about 3-4 unopened tubes of this as Im stocking up in case it ever gets discontinued LOL and the product in question is obviously "Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara" I cant understand why Ive never written about it before! This really is the holy grail of all mascaras!
Price: Around £9 - £10
Shades: As Far A I Can Tell It Only Comes In Ultra Black (According To The Bourjois Site) But Have A Look Around And They Might Have More.
Theres nothing special about the brush size or shape for this one although it may be ever so slightly bigger than normal. I find usually when I use a bigger/thicker mascara brush that it is harder to control and I end up making a big mess but with this one I didnt at all even the very first time I used it as it is larger but not by much so it doesnt feel like much of a difference but the difference can be seen on your eyes. The handle although that is a different shape is meant to be easier to hold and control as it is curved to fit your hand but I cant see or feel the difference in all honesty its just very easy to hold and makes application really quick and simple but nothing proper special - in this case though it doesnt need to be.
I find that the actual mascara solution is a bit thicker than most I have used which I reckon is down to the added ingredients: natural wax & silicone but again even though it is different it doesnt effect it in any way I can tell straight off. Some people will assume that because it is thicker it will clump more easily and take much longer to dry but I havent found that it does either of those things it does start to clump when your coming towards the end of the tube but I assume that happens with most so its nothing to worry about just chuck it away. This glides onto my lashes really evenly and coats them from root to tip in one go although with this one I rekcon at least two coats for a really dramatic effect and believe me it is so worth it. Nothing comes close to makeing my lashes as thick and full of volume as this does as it actually does look like Im wearing falsies and I get that proper glamour puss eye look even if I do say so myself. This does lenghten to a certain extent but not as much as some others I would prefer volume over length though when it comes to mascara so that doesnt bother me too much. On a night out when Im goign for the big smokey eyed look this is the perfect product to use and it even makes day make-up look a bit better without looking like youve spent ages on it and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. No clumps or flaking just really, really volumised lashes.
If you want a mascara that lenghtens loads then dont go for this but if your looking for more volume I cant think of a better product than this for that job. Definately recommended. Thanks For Reading

I have very pathetic eyelashes. They are fair and short and fine. I suffer from a classic case of sibling envy, as my younger brother's eyelashes are unfeasibly long, black, thick and curly. Without any exaggeration they are much nicer and fuller than many false eyelashes on the market, and when he looks down, they honestly don't look real. GRR. He frequently makes fun of my stumps, the little treasure...
I've tried countless mascaras, and this is by far my favourite. I gave up on lengthening mascaras long ago, as because by eyelashes aren't very thick, they just look spiky and separated rather than flirty and fluttery. Instead I use volume mascaras, for a fuller look.
The colour on this mascara is fab, I use Ultra Black and it certainly is. One coat provides excellent colour that is enough to frame your eyes, but keeps looks natural enough that it's as if you're just blessed with sooty lashes.
With another coat the volume and colour are both amped up, with no clumping at all. It also creates a curl, so it avoids the spiky appearance given by some and sticks to the glamorous effect as promised. I find that the curling is emphasised if you bend the brush slightly in the middle.
I have tried the Volume Glamour Curl variety and find it does not provide as much volume but the same amount of curl as this one, so I went back to the original
It doesn't flake unless picked at, and comes off easily. I have sensitive eyes which some mascaras cause to water incessently but this is much gentler. One tube lasts for a long time, perhaps because of the depth of colour so even when it's getting a bit sparse, it's still noticeable.
When I wear this people often comment on how great my lashes look, which believe me, is no small feat. All for the princely sum of £7-£8. Worth it in my eyes. (Literally! Haha...ha, sorry.)
As a natural blond, mascara would probably be the one make up essential I would bring to a desert island. So when shopping for mascara its crucial to get a deep black pigment with a thick brush to avoid having those annoying little blond roots peeping through and ruining the illusion of long dark fluttery lashes. i used to be a fun of Dior's total black out mascara however i found that it often because too gloopy for the brush and caused these annoying little clumps amongst my lashes. However after being too broke to replace my sacred Dior regular, i miraculously discovered this recession friendly alternative. This Bourjois mascara has the same high black pigment to keep my blond lashes strictly black while the consistency isn't too thick. the brush is just the right size to get into the roots without risking getting those pesky splatters on your lash line, also the tapered brush allows you to reach the little lashes on the inside corner of you eye for a wide-eyed effect. An all round winner and credit crunch friendly product.
I have relatively long lashes naturally but they are a dark blonde colour so when it comes to mascaras I look for something that can thicken and darken, without much lengthening. I prefer the full, plush, root thickened effect over the long, seperated lashes so I usually try out any new product that promises to give this result. So whilst browsing in Boots a few months a go I cam across the Bourjois display and found this product - "Volume Glamour" Mascara on offer so thought I would try it out :-)
'The ultimate glamourous lashes can be yours with this classic volumising mascara' - "Volume Glamour" is Bourjois' best selling mascara and promises to thicken in just one coat. The full roller brush claims to provide 50% more volume and the formula is enriched with Vitamin B to leave your eye lashes thicker and healthier.
The packaging for this product is simple. A tall, matte black tube with a smooth pale gold lid, though I think the lid has recently been changed to a shiny black. It is easy to hold and use and retails for around £6.99 to £7.99 if I remember correctly.
The official Bourjois website states that it is available in only two shades - Noir Ebane (06) and Ultra Black (61) though I have definately seen it for sale in a Navy and Plum before so they may still be available to purchase somewhere. (I find Boots has the most extensive collection).
The brush is of average length but nice and full too. It tapers slightly at the ends which is a bonus for me as it's easier to reach the lower lashes and the inner corners of the uppers. I never curl my lashes before applying mascara as I just don't feel the need to, especially as many mascaras will curl them for me.
With one coat this mascara thickens and lengthens a little too. The pigment is rich and dark - none of the tones some blacks give! I wiggle the wand at the roots of my lashes then apply a little less pressure at the tips to achieve that feathery look.
After two coats (I apply straight away, without letting the first dry) it doesn't clump or stick lashes together :-) Yay!
I can wear "Volume Glamour" all day long without it smudging or flaking which is a surprise as many Bourjois mascaras I have tried in the past fade aftera few hours wear and the 'tips' flake off leaving my lashes looking much shorter. But this one doesn't let me down at all! It even removes easily enough at night without me having to use too much product or pull at my lashes / drag at my eyes at all.
Overall I love: The thickening brush; The rich, dark black pigment; The non-smudgin / flaking formula; The stylish and easy to use tube and the price!
I have just bought the new "Volume Glamour Ultra Curl" formula but am yet to try it, if it doesn't work so well as the original then I will definately repurchase this one, even at full price. I would even go so far as to compare it to Dior's "Diorshow" - great stuff :-)
I have used bourjous mascaras in the past, and have always found them to be very good, so I decided to try this one, with the promise of ultra-black lashes and lots of volume. I think in general, that it made fairly good on this promise, as it does provide a good coating of the lashes to create a sultry look, and it isn't too claggy. Stupidly, I didn't think to get a regular mascara to wear during the day, as this definately says "night" to me, as I tend to go for fairly natural make up during the day. However, for a night time look, I think that this product goes very well alongside a charcoal grey eyeshadow, and if you take the time to put on a few coats, then it does give a high-volume look to your lashes. In addition, my eyelashes did seem to be quite a bit blacker than when I used normal mascara. This cost me about £7.99 which I think was a pretty reasonable price.
I hoped this 'Ultra Black' Volume Glamour mascara from Bourjois would have a dramatic effect on my lashes! I have previously tried many different products, my usual being Max Factor, but none had achieved the thick, dark sexy effect I was looking for!
This product comes in a 12ml sized (or 0.4 fl oz) black bottle and is priced around the £6.50 mark at major chemists. The applicator top is quite short and stubby with no raised sections to grip. The actual brush is approximately 28 mm long and is straight in a typical twisted wire hair style. Over time, the liquid has gathered in the screw top of my bottle and become a little messy. The wording on the packaging claims that the mascara is "enriched in black mineral pigments" and promises that the mascara will "double eyelash volume".
The liquid has a mild, flowery, talc-like aroma. It is quite thick and ultra black with a deep, oily sheen. It glides onto the lashes quite easily. One coat will give a natural looking finish. It requires two or more coats to achieve a dramatic effect. The mascara feels quite heavy and a little bit sticky on the eyelashes. I sometimes like to run a clean brush through my lashes after applying as my lashes can become quite clumpy and stuck together otherwise.
The mascara is not very durable and I find that even with one coat parts of dry mascara will crumble off into the eye. As a contact lens wearer I find this to be quite painful and irritating. It is not a good product for those with very sensitive eyes, then.
It takes a good few wipes with a proper eye make-up remover liquid to get the mascara off and it feels quite greasy and tough - like wet soot.
Whilst this mascara definately provides a stunning look - darkening lashes to the deepest shade of black - the fact that it is quite crumbly when dry is a let down for me. It is a great mascara for wearing for parties and nights out when you want a short-lived vamp effect but it is definately not my choice for a daily wearing-to-work mascara.
I was having a look at superdrugs website at their christmas items and moved around to look at some of the makeup items to inspire another review for me to write when I came accross bourjois volume glamour mascara which had an excellent review on the site. I was going to buy it but then realised I might already have it. So I had a rummage in my makeup bags (yes plural!) and indeed I do have it. I figured I hadnt used it because it isnt a waterproof mascara, normally these are all I use outdoors as I dont want to end up with black all down my face.
Borjois says it is a one coat thickening mascara and that its full brush gives 50% more volume to lashes and it contains vitamin b to give lashes a healthy boost.
The colour I have is called "noir ebenie" or ebony black I presume. It also comes in an "ultra black" which on the bourjois website (www.bourjois.co.uk) the colour looks exactly the same.
The tube is 12ml and is black with gold writing, most of which is french, luckily some is in english and it says "ultra long lasting" and "doubles eyelash volume". The cap of the tube is a salmon pink colour and the top of the cap is black.
On unscrewing the cap and pulling out the brush I was expecting it to be much bigger than it was. It looks very similar to any other mascara brush so I wonder how it could provide anymore volume than any other. The brush measures 2.5cm long and 7mm wide.
I found the mascara very easy to apply. On applying the 1st coat I didnt think it added much extra volume or length so I tried a few more and this definately made a difference. My lashes got about 3 times longer which is excellent, I did find it clumped a bit but was able to brush the clumps out before it dried. Also I accidently got some on my eyelid but amazingly I was able to remove it by just using my finger and it didnt leave a smudge.
Once it was dried I tried rubbing my eyes and dabbing them with water and it didnt come off at all! Ive kept it on all evening now and it still looks great. I am impressed with this product, apart from the clumping which I think was because I put too much on it really is excellent. My lashes look huge!
The mascara costs 5.75 on the superdrug website, I couldnt find it on the boots website but im sure they must have it there too. I think this is a reasonable price for a mascara these days and the results are worth it.
My favourite mascara! It is a best seller accoring to the bourjois website and i can see why, It is the only one i've tried (and i've tried a lot!) that really gave my lashes a curl and lift and made them look seperated and like they do on the adverts and beng enriched with vitamin B it's gentle on lashes too! It's mid range price wise, i've used cheaper and more expensive ones but i think its well worth the money. The packaging is simple and understated, the brush is a lovely design, i've even tried using that brush in another mascara bottle when this one has run out. It lasts well throughout the day or night, it's looks ok if you apply another coat later in the day/evening when "touching up" makeup and still comes off easily with even cheap eye makeup remover. It also comes in 2 different shades of black now, ultra black and black.
I was in need of a new mascara and decided to try something different, as I have never managed to find one I am totally happy with. Boots had an offer on Bourjois so I decided to give their Volume Glamour mascara a go.
This volumising mascara contains Vitamin B to nourish your eyelashes it contains a thick roller brush to lift and add volume to your lashes leaving you with visible results that last.
The mascara comes in a black container with gold writing and a matt metallic light pink screw top. The container is smaller at the bottom than the top, rounding off to reach the screw top, which also fans out from bottom to top.
The mascara cost £7.25, although I bought it with a money off voucher so it was slightly less. I felt that this was slightly on the pricy side, especially with the amount of time that it lasts and would prefer to spend a bit more money to ensure I got a reliable product.
This mascara is simple to use and you don't need to keep coating the eyelashes to get a defined result like you do with some mascaras. It doesn't clump up the eyelashes and gives a nice effect, although not as spectacular as I was expecting.
This mascara lasts well throughout the day without running or smudging. I was surprised just how easy it was to remove, it is by far the quickest and gentlest of the ones I have tried which is great as I have sensitive eyes.
The mascara becomes gloopy quickly and then begins to flake - mascara flakes on the cheeks are NOT a good look! The shape of the container also has it's disadvantages as, while it is very aesthetically pleasing, it is not all that practical - falling over a fair bit due to it being top heavy, especially when the brush is out, making it rather awkward to pick up without smearing mascara everywhere!
I love that this product is so easy to remove without coming off at the slightest sigh of rain. It does lift my eyelashes nicely, but no better than some other brands that I have used. I would have expected it to have lasted longer before becoming gloopy and flaky.
I certainly won't be rushing out to buy another one (especially as it doesn't last that long), although I would consider trying a different mascara from the Bourjois range to try to find one that doesn't become gloopy and flaky in such a short space of time, as this mascara has some great qualities that I haven't found in a mascara before. The hunt for the perfect mascara continues!
