I brought this mascara as it was on offer, the shop didn't have my usual mascara. So I had a look through the other choices they had, and decided to go with this one. It retails at around £11. Which is not bad for boujois as they can be at the top end of the market if you go into shops such as boots or superdrug. When I first tried it the brush seemed to hold a lot of mascara, which made it difficult to apply at times. However after a couple of uses it evened out a bit and gave me and all round even look. The shape of the brush however was a style that I liked. It makes it easy to separate the lashes, not giving a clumpy look which is hard to find in a mascara. The name of this product is called ultra curl, and sadly I don't think it matches upto the name, it doesn't give a lot of lift, curl or length. What I tend to do now is use the boujois 'twist up the volume' mascara which adds volume and length, once iv separated my lashes using this current mascara.Using these both gave me a perfect lash look.
Iv had the mascara for a little while now and there is still plenty of use left, so I would say its definitely good value for money if your willing to buy another one for the lengthening of your lashes.
A good thing about this mascara is it dries relatively quickly, so you don't have to deal with the mistake of blinking when the mascara is still wet, and ending up with it all over your eye lid. This is also good if you put multiple coats on. Another positive iv noticed is that its really easy to remove, its quick and doesn't leave you with the big black rings that normally appear when trying to remove eye make up. Other mascaras iv found to cling to your lashes, making it a much harder job.
Overall I would recommend this mascara, although it does not completely match up to what it claims to be, when you look at all the facts it is still a very good all round, everyday mascara. Very long lasting and very worth the money.
I really needed new mascara for taking on holiday with me and Boots No. 7 didn't have my usual curling mascara. I really hate it when you find a product you love and then can no longer get it because it means splashing out on something you don't know if you'll like or not. As make-up was buy one get one half price, I decided to go with the Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascara. Bourjois are a very well regarded brand for make-up but it has been a long time since I have used any of their products. I bought this mascara from Boots and it cost £7.99 at full price.
Bourjois claim that 'the innovative, curved volumising brush lifts, curls and fans out, leaving your lashes not only lusciously thick but gorgeously curled, for an eye-opening look, perfect for that wicked wink!'
The mascara comes is a really lovely looking black and pink tube. The main body is slightly thinner towards the bottom giving it a curved look. The text on the main body matches the metallic pink lid, which is very eye catching. The packaging states the name of the mascara, what it does as well as the Boujois logo. As mascaras go, this one looks great on a shelf and partly why I went for this one rather than any other.
As I unscrewed the lid to show the mascara wand, I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The curved wand is not nearly as curved as I had been expecting and therefore, was not overly sure about how well this product would work. However, application is extremely easy and with some mascaras, I end up with black all over my eyelid as my lashes are so long but that didn't happen with this. The mascara went on my lashes with easy and as the brush is curved (even if it is only slightly) it worked so well. My lashes were separated, curved and volumised all at the same time.
Another thing I was impressed with was the colour of this mascara. Some black mascaras aren't actually that dark but after using this, my lashes looked extremely dark and they also stood out even with eyeshadow on. Even though this is dark in colour, it doesn't look too dark for use in the day time but it also still works really well for nights out. After two coats, this mascara gives a really dramatic effect but one coat does me well for during the day.
I don't use make-up remover or anything similar on my eyes, only a flannel and warm water. This mascara comes off really easily when trying to remove it which is a good thing but it also doesn't smudge too much when you rub your eyes.
I really like this mascara and I do think it is better than the No. 7 equivalent. I'll be sticking to this one from now on.

I'm always trying out new make up products especially mascara and I had just run out of mine so visited my local Boots store to purchase some more. Recently I have been purchasing the same brand/type of mascara so when I decided that I would try something new to see if it was any better than the mascara I had previously been using. The mascara I am reviewing is by Bourjois Paris and claims to give you intense volume and a breathtaking curl at the same time. Lashes are beautifully curled for a look that's twice as glamorous. You just need one application to double the volume of lashes thanks to the mascara's volumising complex. The brush is curved rather than straight which helps to lift and fan out lashes, leaving your eye perfectly frames. The mascara's formula contains soft flexible waves and silicone to help shape and curl your lashes. The Mascara comes in a black tube which had a matt like look to it. The lid to the mascara is a metallic pink colour which is light. The writing on the black tube of the mascara matches the lid and is a metallic pink colour. It states what the product is and states that it gives intense volume with a dramatic curl. The colour of the mascara is on the lid where the barcode is. In this case the mascara is Black.

I purchased this from Boots for £7.99, how-ever when you purchase 1 product in the Bourjois range you get a 2nd item for half price. The Mascara comes in Black and Deep Black (according to the Boots website).
Using the Product

I always use eyelash curlers before applying mascara anyway so this is obviously going to curl them a little before using the actual product. The mascara wand was easy to hold and due to the curled brush the mascara looked as though it was going to be easy to apply. I applied one coat of mascara ensuring I got all of the lashes. The first thing I noticed was that the brush definitely helps to fan out your lashes. When using the brush it seems to make the lashes more individual which helps to fan the lashes out. I was impressed by this. Due to the curl in the brush I did find this easy to apply that straight brushes you get on most mascara wands. Although it states you only need to give your lashes one coat, I decided to give them 2 coats instead. This makes my lashes slightly darker and gave them slightly more volume than the first coat. After applying the mascara to both eyes I looked in the mirror at the results. My lashes were definitely fanned out and I loved the look of this. There was also a slight curl in my lashes too (which may have been helped with the eyelash curlers)! In terms of volume I didn't think there was a great deal of volume added to my lashes compared to my previous mascara I had been using. I wore the mascara all day before removing it in the evening. The mascara was kind to my eyes and didn't irritate them in any way throughout the day. (I have sensitive eyes so quite often some make up will leave them feeling dry or irritated.) During the day the mascara didn't flake off or smudge causing black around my eyes. The mascara was easy to remove using a Simple cleansing wipe.

I was impressed with the curl that the mascara gave my lashes but this was probably helped a little by using eyelash curlers before applying the mascara. Due to the curved brush I found the product easy to apply, much easier than I do with a straighter mascara brush. In terms of volume there was some volume in my lashes but not as much as I expected. I think my previous mascara gave me much more volume than this one. In terms of value I think the mascara is average priced and I probably would purchase it again. This is a mascara that I would use more in the day due to the natural curl it gives my lashes. For the evening I prefer a much fuller/more volume look for my lashes so I probably wouldn't use this for the evening/night out on the town. I would recommend this product to others, but to get the full effect of the curl I would recommend using eyelash curlers before applying the product.

I bought this mascara a while ago after having used the bourjois volume glamour mascara and really loved it. Generally I think bourjois are a reasonably priced and trustworthy brand that offer high street quality products you can rely on. I had no doubt I would like this mascara but I was keen to see how it compared to the original.
This mascara comes in a standard black tube, but is adorned with shiny pink lettering and a pink metal twist lid. These coloured accents help to distinguish this mascara from the others in my drawer which is handy. It also still manages to retain a feminine and stylish edge to it by sticking to quite classic colours. The brush itself is a bristle brush, I tend to prefer these to plastic combs, which is curved to fit the contour of your eye. The design for this mascara is is really nice, the shapely body of the tube gives a really womanly and flirty feel to this product. I definitely wouldn't be embarrassed to have it on my dressing table. That said, it isn't just great in the looks department but it functions well too making it a practical buy.
The mascara fluid is a relatively thick one. These tend to be slower drying I find but this one dries quickly and leaves your lashes smooth, black and without any unsightly clumping. This mascara really helps to separate the lashes and to elongate them. I don't think it is as good at volumising my lashes as the original mascara is, because of the design of the brush. That said, I like the look it achieves for me and this can definitely be a cute day look or (with a little added volume from another mascara) a great evening look.
This mascara costs roughly £7.99 from most retailers, though it can be found cheaper online. The price is a comfortable price for me to spend on a mascara, anything more and I wouldn't necessarily be rushing back. It lasted me 2 months which is a fairly standard length of time. The mascara fluid has dried now but luckily I used the majority of it so the brush can be used to declump and separate lashes as there is no residual fluid on it. This is an added bonus for me and will definitely mean I buy this again.
A nice mascara from a trustworthy brand.
I think this product has been out for quite some time and I must have passed it in boots and superdrug many times, however, I was quite obsessed with high end make up and wouldn't dream of buying this for some reason... Well one day I saw they were doing a 3 for 2 offer at boots and I was quite intrigued by this one so I decided to buy it as it's only half if not a third of the price of the expensive mascara's I like to buy and I'd heard some good things about the Bourjois mascaras. Another thing with mascara is that it has such a short shelf life (3 to 6 months) so if these do the same as the high end ones, why spend all the money on something that goes gloopy and becomes unusable in less than a year?
The packaging of this mascara is very cute; a matte black curved tube with a pretty pink metallic screw on top where the wand is attached inside. I don't think these curl mascaras come in any other shade than black but that's the colour I usually go for as my eyes are so dark. The brush is it's main feature I think; it's curved and quite thick to make curling the lashes easier. The product is quite creamy and thick but not clumpy and I didn't find it difficult to apply. I found that the brush does help curl the lashes better than just flat ones as you get a very nice lifted effect with only a few sweeps rather than going over it for ages with a regular straight mascara wand.
I did like how curled, thicker and longer my eyelashes appeared. I am definitely impressed with the result and would say that I got an even better result from this product than some of the more expensive ones I've bought. The ultimate test would be seeing how it holds up after hours of wear and if it didn't start smudging or flaking, then I would know that this is definitely worth using and repurchasing again.
So, I wore my usual full makeup; I had some powder under and on the eyelid as I found that if I didn't do this, even my most expensive mascara and eyeliner would start to melt and smudge all over my eye area and that is what gives me that not very attractive panda eyes look. So after over 12 hours of wear, I found that the mascara hasn't flaked, smudged or lost it's hold and curl and it wasn't too difficult removing it with my make up wipes.
I'm definitely impressed and very happy with my purchase and will be buying this product again. It gives me the curled, long and thick lashes that I've always dreamed of (as mine are naturally very short and thin looking). Removing the product is very easy and for the price, definitely worth a try!
After having a voucher for £2 off make up in boots (march 09), I decided to go on a hunt for a nice brand of mascara, and treat myself.
This was on offer at the time, priced at £5.99, then with my £2 off, I got it for £3.99.. absolute bargain for this product I think!! I would pay a lot more!
The tube is really cute, with a nice curve in it, which makes it more femenine, which I think targets the audience perfectly. Adding to the femininity is the pink metallic handle and writing, which makes it bold and more striking, yet girly.
The actual mascara is great I think, it goes on smoothly, and the mascara isn't at all gloopy or cloggy. It's not watery either. Just perfect. Nice coverage over lashes, although it can be tricky to get the outer lashes, which can sometimes result in mascara going on your face - but I reckon thats my application skills!! The mascara is also quite slow to dry, cause you get quite a lot of mascara onto your lashes in one sweep, sometimes blinking can result in mascara going onto your face under your eyes, so it is better to blink slowly and blow upwards to help dry lashes. :)
The brush is the main feature which Bourgois boast about, and I think they are right to! The curved brush makes for a nicely even application, catching most lashes. I like the interesting brush to. Most applications only involve one or two sweeps, whereas with conventional brushes you can be continuously moving across the lashes brushing countless times.
Overall, this mascara is brilliant in my opinion. Lashes are much fuller and longer, and therefore more beautiful :) Especially when combined with eyelash curlers, the effect can be stunning!
I would definitely buy this product for the full price of £7.99 approx. as it outdos any other mascara I have owned.
5 stars. Quality.
I may as well admit the reason why I bought this mascara, Im a very girly girl and the fact it had pink on it I just had tohave it!
The mascara is in a similar shped tube to the other ones available from the same brand, as it is nice and curved and quite trendy looking. The lid is a very pale metalic pink and definatley stand out from all the other mascaras around it. The name of the product and brand name is again in the same pale pink colour. The curl is written is curly writing which I am guessing is to tie the to together.
On unscrewing the lid the mascara wand is attahced to it and was surprised to find the actual brush was slightly curved itself and as I began using it found it fited perfectly to the shape of my eyelashes. It was quite thin but as I used it found that it gave a great coverage and avoided any spider leg incidents! One coat is what I tend to use during the day as it appears more natural, however if im going on a night out I tend to use two as it gives more fo a dramatic effect. I wouldnt say this mascara actually makes your lashes curl any more then any other mascara however I did find it defiantley made them look longer and the colour was dark and rich.
For me its still a great mascara even if it doesnt do exactly what it says on the tin!
In boots it is usually £7.99 but its currently on sale (30.3.09) for £5.99.
It comes in a funky black tube with metallic pink lid. A good size for fitting in the handbag.
How to use:
After applying eyeshadow and eyeliner, use the brush to apply mascara to the eyelashes pulling the comb through the lashes and avoid clogging.
I have tried so many mascaras i loose track of how many! I usually use another brand which i swear by but i saw this was on offer a while back so i thought i would give it a go!
When i first applied the mascara to my eyelashes i was amazed on how long my eyelashes looked, i was really impressed. They looked so thick and long and the colour really stood out.
After going out shopping, when i got back into the car i happened to look in the mirror and was shocked. The mascara was smudged and was all bitty and flaky under my eyes. I hadn't rubbed my eyes and it wasn't hot.
I personally would not buy this mascara again because it didn't even last two hours before smudging and giving me the panda eye look. I did give this a second chance by just wearing it around indoors and it did the same thing.
Its a shame because my eyelashes looked amazing at first, its just a shame you end up looking like you have two black eyes at the end of it!
There are so many brands of make-up on the mark currently and even more mascaras and even more volumising mascara... so which is the best? I'd honestly have to say this is :) Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl.
This mascara has a curved, bristled, comb wand which lifts lashes from their roots and really curls them. This product can really open your eyes and gives the illusion of full, thick lashes. It's £8 for a 12ml bottle which is actually a little more than an average mascara and the price is very reasonable. I do find though, you go through the bottle fairly quickly so, you'd probably be needing a replacement every 3 months (that's if you use it pretty much every day).
I really like the packaging, it's very classy with the colours being black and pearly pink. The tube is black, slightly curved and has a matte finish. The screw top is metallic pink and this matches the writing on the black bottle.
The brush is quite think but has a lot of bristles which are reasy to make your lashes look gorgeous. The curve definitely helps make the application quick and easy, a few strokes and your ready to go with no clumps. The brush can be used to do the bottom lashes too, just as easily and the colour is a very rich black and it's highly pigmented.
The overall result are fuller, thicker, longer, curved, black lashes that doesn't smudge, flake or fade thrughout the day and not a clump in sight. It can however be removed easily with an eye make-up remover but this is literally the only thing that will budge it.
The mascara can be found online or in shops such as Boots and Superdrug. If you're looking for something new, I recommend giving this a go and you won' be disappointed.
Yet another review for a voluminizing mascara - I think I have a sickness! ;-)
With all the different brands, colours and formulas available on the market, choosing a mascara can be a little overwhelming so I tend to stick within brands I know and trust. So, when Bourjois released their new "Volume Glamour Ultra Curl" I was quick to pick it up. I have used and loved their original "Volume Glamour" formula so I had high hopes for this one too.
Bourjois promise 'breathtaking curl and ultimate volume' by using an innovative 'curved voluminizing brush'. It lifts lashes, and curls and fans them out at the same time for a gorgeously curled, eye opening look. It is enriched with an 'volumizing complex, soft flexible waves and silicone' for luxuriously thick eyelashes.
It costs just under £8.00 for 12ml (which is a little more than the usual amount found in a mascara tube) so it's good value for money in my opinion.
It is packaged in a tall, curved tube with a matte, black finish. The lid and graphics / text are a pale metallic pink shade which I personally think is very cute :-)
The brush head is quite thin but the bristles are tightly packed which to me is usually a good sign for thickening mascaras. The wand is slightly bent which aims to curl lashes whilst applying. No complaints packaging wise!
The pigmentation of "Volume Glamour Ultra Curl" is very rich and black and therefore gets a thumbs up from me right away. The curved brush fits perfectly with the line of my lashes (which some other curved brushes in the past have failed to do) and covers each lash from root to tip in once easy coat.
On the first coat I sweep lightly throughout the entire lengths of the lashes, root to tip and with the second I focus on the roots, wiggling gently at the base for a thick but feathery result.
This mascara wand also works well on the lower lashes.
The result is plush, black lashes that do not smudge, flake or fade throughout the day.
It is removed easily at the end of the day with my regular eye makeup remover and hasn't caused me to lose any lashes yet.
This mascara has a shelf life of 6 months and I have been using it almost daily for the last three months or so and it has only just started to run out / dry so it has worked out great value for me and I will probably repurchase once it's all gone.
Overall, this is one of the best new mascaras I have tried for a while and I hope Bourjois continue to sell it in the future.
Highly recommended to anyone wanting thick, volumized lashes which dry soft, not crunchy. Great stuff!
Breathtaking curl, maximum volume!; Lashes are not only volumised but beautifully curled for a look that's twice as glamourous! It only takes one application to double the volume of lashes thanks to mascara's volumising complex and the brush's product reservoir. The brush is curved to lift and fan out lashes, leaving you with perfectly framed eyes. What's more the formula contains soft flexible waxes and silicone to help shape and curl.
