I received a pack of four mini lip glosses from Burt's Bees with a prize package a couple of months ago, I'm not really a lip gloss girl and until I won this competition I think I only had one gloss product left in my make-up bag - as the Burt's Bees competition was to promote some new lip products I wasn't surprised to find at least two dozen assorted lip products (the whole of their lip range actually) in the box. I've had mixed results with them but have been really pleased with this set.
It appears there are different sets as mine doesn't feature the same shades as in the pack pictured by Dooyoo - I had a pink, a red, a coral and one which looks clear but has a pearlescent finish once applied. I'm not keen on the clear one as it's a little too shiny for me but I was able to pass that on to my daughter who uses it loads so I assume it must be half decent.
The other three I use and I think they're all excellent. The lip glosses aren't sticky (or at least no more sticky than any other lip gloss!) and they're a dream to apply thanks to the flat angled applicator tip on the end of the tube, the gloss comes out extremely smoothly and doesn't pull my lips or force itself onto the skin around my lips. I've worn all three of the glosses I kept alone and over lipstick, I do prefer the look of them when I have lipstick on underneath but for a more natural look all the shades are ideal if applied straight to my naked lips.
I don't think these lip glosses are drying as such but they do seem to leech moisture out of my lips and when the gloss has disappeared I feel the urge to either apply more or use a slick of lip balm - I'm not sure why that is as I don't feel like the glosses cause any detrimental effects, it's just that at the point where they fade my lips do come over a little tight and that's something I like to deal with immediately.
The gloss is 100% natural and the shine is there to a reasonable degree for a good couple of hours after application, the effect is obviously longer lasting when worn over lipstick but even the gloss on its own is pretty good in terms of longevity (relatively speaking, in 'gloss' ways).
The £15 price tag for these is far more than I'd be willing to pay, however much I like them - each gloss is only 8ml and although the tub will last for a while I don't personally think they're worth that kind of money for such very small items.
I purchased this pack of four lip glosses from a popular online auction site. What persuaded me to buy these is the fact that they are all natural and better for you as opposed to standard lip glosses. The lip glosses are all different colours and shades and you can alternate them depending on your mood. My favourite colour is the deep red (super shine) shade as it suits my skintone and the colour is really long lasting.
The glosses all smell lovely. They have a gorgeous fruity scent to them which is really uplifting and inviting. The gloss applies easily without being sticky and it gives a lovely shine to your lips. The shine effect lasts ages and you don't need to top up the colour that often as the colour tends to stay put. My hair doesn't stick to my lips with these either, even when it's windy outside.
I love these glosses. You can keep all of them for yourself or you can split the pack to make four small stocking fillers. The glosses would appeal to almost everyone (every woman/ girl) as they look great and they're not at all tacky or cheap. They are of brilliant quality and they moisturise the lips really well to prevent cracking and/ or splitting. They are ideal to use this time of the year when the air is dry and the temperature is cold.
I would recommend these lip glosses. They're fab and they're not too bad in price when you divide the actual price by four. They average around £3.30 each.
To begin with I haved to admit I am a devout Burts Bees fan and so am willing to try any product in this range. I have very sensitive skin and have been using Burts for a number of years . Burts Bees credits itself on using natural products ie:Beeswax, botanical and essential oils, herbs, flowers and minerals. It uses no phthalate, petrolatum and DMDM Hydantoin.
Now for the History- dont worry its actually short and interesting !
Burt started out in 1969 tending hives and selling honey on North Main Roadside. Burt Shavitz founded the skin care company Burts Bees with fellow bee keeper Roxanne Quimby.
Products are packaged using only recyled materials .Products are manufactured using minimal processing for instance Distillation/ condensation, extraction/ steamed distillation/ pressure cooking and hydrolysis . Each products purity is maintained as highly as possible.
You will also find that each product has a natural bar rating showing the percentage of natural ingredients in each item, with a detailed ingredient description.
Well thats the details and history now onto the actual lip gloss.
These particular lip glosses have a 100% natural rating, each one is 8.5g/0.3oz. the colours are Zesty Red, Pucker Berry, Sweet Pink and Nectar Nude. All verry subtle shades the Zesty Red being the strongest colour. They smell fruity and delicious and it is tempting to apply the glosses more than is necessary . As they are 100% natural they cant harm you for over use!
They come in neat yellow and orange packaging and are very compact. The gloss lasts quite a while once applied, but as it is natural it probably will not last as long as something chemical based. This particular mini gloss set would be perfect to take on holiday as it compact and its actually nice once you have gained a glowing tan to put something sumptious, shiny but natural on your lips.
Ricinus communis(castor)seed oil,helianthus annuus(sunflower)seed oil,acacia decurrens flower wax,phytosteryl canola glycerides,flavor,silica,prunus amygdalus dulcis(sweet almond oil),tocopherol,glycerine soya(soybean)oil.May contain/peut Contenir:+/-iron oxides,carmine,titanium dioxide,mica.
Burts Bees do not test on animals.
To sum up a well made natural based product.
This is a great little pack of lip gloss tubes. It's a great brand because it's all natural, so you know that there's no chemical nasties in there - something which seem particularly important to me for something that goes on your lips!
The tubes are pretty small, but they last for ages, so they're great to stow in your bag(s), pocket, desk draw - anywhere and everywhere! - and will keep your lips moisturised for ages. There's four different colours in this pack and although the colour is pretty sheer (even on my pale skin), you do get a different look with each different colour.
The tubes are well designed, so that the gloss goes on easily. It leaves a lovely gloss finish and lasts really well. This gloss is also really really moisturising - does at least as good a job at this as most lip balms I've had! One of the nicest things about these though is the lovely natural fruity smell, which is strong enough to be nice, without being too much.
In short this is a great product - a great little tube of gloss to carry with you when you can't be bothered with lipstick that will keep your lips soft and smooth as well as looking fab.
