The lip gloss I have is in a tube and you apply it using the applicator that is built into the lid, CK have other types of lip gloss but I have only tried this one and am happy with it because this is the format I prefer for lip products as I don't like the squeezy tubes and think pots are unhygienic. The CK One lip gloss comes in different shades, the one I have is called Sugar and that is a pale pearly pink. It would have been nice if we could have chosen our shades but the goody bag was sealed and my boyfriend said they just reached behind the counter and handed it to him after scanning his purchases so I think everyone would have got the same.
The lip gloss is a nice compact size that is perfect to go into my bag or even my pocket if I am going out and not planning on taking a bag at all.
Application is very easy because the applicator is a good shape for my lips (and anyones lips!!). When you pull the lid off the applicator has quite a lot of gloss on it so I always wipe it on the inside of the neck of the tube to save putting too much on my lips, I like a light covering of lip gloss and think it's too easy to apply a coat that is too thick. This lip gloss from Calvin Klein is quite thick but also runny so it's better to apply a small amount and build it up, the lip gloss smooths onto my lips very easily so it does not take very long to apply even if you do it the way I recommend and build up a layer at a time.
I don't use heavy lip products so haven't used this lip gloss over lipstick very often, I usually wear it alone or occasionally over very lightweight lipsticks or lip stains. I have noticed that when I apply it over lip colour the applicator of the CK lip gloss gets stained with the colour, that makes it look a real mess and I have only used the applicator twice when I am wearing lipstick but already the sponge applicator has got pale pink smears on it that I can't get rid of. You wouldn't notice that on one of the darker coloured lip glosses (there are about 15 available) but it shows up badly on my Sugar shade because of it being so light in colour.
I actually got sent this CK lip balm for joining up with an online bingo website over a year ago. This is one of the lip glosses that resides at the bottom of my handbag for just in case moments. The colour I was sent is clear with a bit of sparkle in it so it goes with most items. The shade is called jezebel and has tiny bits of cosmic glitter in it which look lovely in the tube and are a little bit less visible on the lips!
The packaging for this is a square shape with a clear body and black lid. The shape helps with grip and makes it very easy to open. Inside the lid is a brush with an applicator tip that is sponge like and comes out fully loaded every time. I find that this feels a little bit gritty on the lips, that is because of the glitter but it is a little bit irritating.
This doesn't stay on for very long at all, especially if you are eating or drinking. It is not very sticky which is good and feels quite smooth except for the glitter bits. It has no taste to it which is also a bonus. Looks wise it presents a subtle shimmer and I think this looks a lot better used over a lip stain or lip stick.
Debenhams sell CK lipgloss for £12 a pop but you can pick these up a lot cheaper on ebay. I also remember TJ Hughes used to sell a lot of CK branded make up for under a fiver.
I think this lipgloss is OK but not brilliant. It has its bad points but it's still a decent neutral shiny top coat that I am happy to use. It's not one I'll be hunting out for repurchase but it was OK as a sort of freebie!
