I received my first Chanel lipstick for Christmas last year in the 'Romantic' shade, that is the genuine name. Even with all the extensive lines of make up that I own, my go to will always be eye liner or lipstick. I own so many different shades and brands that it would make your head spin but this lipstick is unlike any other lipstick I have ever come across before in my life. The actual style of the lipstick and case for starter is enough of a game to keep me entertained when I am bored, its possibly even overtaken the infamous clicking-a-pen habbit. It feels smooth and sleek, a perfect representation of the Chanel brand and has a nice weight to it that adds to the feeling of dealing with luxury make up.
The lipstick itself is still going very strong after 6 months. This shade in particular is not a vivid pink but it's still slightly punchy, subtly drawing attention to your lips like a good lipstick should. The texture is velvety and my lips seem to appreciate the smooth texture as it doesn't dry them out like many of my other lipsticks. However, for me the best feature out of a big selection is the longevity of the lipstick. I carry armies of lipstick and therefore staying liquid like lipcote to help maintain full bold lips but this is the only lipstick I have ever used where I don't need anything to help it stay longer. Its not a miracle lipstick where the colour looks untouched after gallons of drinks but it stays a lot longer than anything I've ever used before.
I am a student so when my Chanel runs out, I can't say I would run out to get another one as they are expensive but if money was no object it would certainly be my first choice.
I bought myself the Aqualumiere lipstick in no.75 'Samoa' several months ago, and it is still going strong. I was so impressed with it I have saved my pennies and bought a few more shades!
Firstly, if you buy from a Chanel counter you can do so with confidence. Of course, the make-up isn't cheap so you would expect a good service, and Chanel don't disappoint. In my experience the assistants have always been genuine and helpful, and have been able to help me find exactly what I was after. There are a wide variety of different shades, and they can help you find a colour to suit you.
This lipstick feels great. It has a lovely, creamy texture, making my lips feel moisturised and soft, so I can't stop rubbing them together! The SPF 15 is also a great feature - for those ladies who want to avoid any uneccessary ageing of sensitive skin (like me!) it is quite refreshing to find a reasonable SPF in a lipstick that looks good, too.
A lot of the colours in the collection are fairly neutral, but they have a subtle sparkle to them. This can really brighten up an evening look without being too over-the-top for daytime.
My one complaint is that the colour doesn't last especially long. Be prepared to keep applying it. However, I would prefer a product that makes my lips feel soft and shiny than one that claims (and often fails) to last all day - it's all about compromise!
As I said, I've had my lipsticks for a few months now, and they have kept really well and haven't dried out. The cases look a bit battered, wih the gold trim rubbing off, which ruins the 'sophisticated' look of them. But I suppose that's my own fault for not investing in a dedicated make-up bag!
