Advantages: True sexy colours, Versatile and long lasting, Better than lipstick

Disadvantages: Some colours only available in US

Okay, Chanel makeup is one of my great loves, but the Glossimer and Glossimer Extreme take top spot. I first tried these when I was in the US, at the insistance of a friend. Kudos to her, they are the ultimate in lip colour.

The packaging is great, slim and sleek, the CC logo atop the lid.. Not over-fancy and not too bulky to just shove in your bag loose. Each comes with an automatic wand applicator built in, as you pull it out, the excess gloss is taken off and remains in the tube - no messy gunk here, and no fussing around to find a lip brush.

The formula itself is great, allowing you to build up the colour as desired. Dab it on lightly, smooth over with a finger tip and you have a "light" version of your chosen shade. Apply it fully with the applicator wand and you have a "darker" version of it. Apply another layer and you get a really intense result, but without the gloopy look of most glosses. If you suffer from chapping or peeling, I'd reccomend this - they all contain shea butter which actually leaves the lips feeling like they've had a treatment once the product wears off. But it doesn't wear off easily! The Glossimer Extreeme has excellent staying power.

The colour range is extensive now, but this is the one slightly negative point for me. My every-day colour is Blush, which is only available in the US. I've hunted the department stores here and not seen hide nor hair of most of the colours I was buying over there. A shame really, but the range is large enough to provide a UK alternative - Praline.

So, Glossimer vs. Glossimer Extreme. The normal glossimers have a more heavy consistency, they are not quite so easy to work with, and the pigmentation is more intense - the darker colours leave a slight 'stain' if you're not careful with your lip line, relevant for those who apply in a hurry or in the car. The updated Extreme version of the gloss sacrifices deep pigmentation and
colour-depth-versatility in favour of a lighter texture (whip-cream like) and more staying power. Glossimers last me about 5 hours, Extreme's last me about 8, no joke..

Over all, I like the updated version better - for some it's not quite as wearable as the normal Glossimer, but it attracts a lot of attention... A real 'model' look. And the best thing? The colours don't make my pale skin look dull.

Pricey or not? Well.. they retail for more in the US ($24 to $27), so from my pov, £13 is a bargain. I don't have a whole fortune to spend, but I got 7 different colours and mix them in a palette when I don't feel like wearing any particular shade.

Summary: Glossimers have eliminated my need for lipstick. Convinient, versatile, gorgeous!!

I've not tried many Chanel products before but this sounds good - especially as it contains shea butter!!! I just might give it a go :0)
