Advantages: great result all round, versatility

Disadvantages: expensive

My first experience with this mascara was a sample I was given with a fragrance purchase. I have been very impressed. I'll first go into the technical details and then a bit more about my experience.

Most mascaras claim to do one or two things. This one aims to do all four - volume, length, curl, separation. A uniquely designed brush makes it possible to achieve all these things at the same time. The bristles are unlike those of any regular brush, they are in fact small fine cones. They have the ideal length and symmetrical alignment for creating length and an even spread on the lashes. Despite their shape the bristles are are very supple and follow the lashes precisely.
In my experience I have found this to be the absolutely perfect mascara. Usually my main issue with any other products is their inability to separate the individual hairs. Also it can be quite difficult to control the amount of product you apply. Chanel has solved all of this in one go. On a day-to day basis I prefer a more natural look, this mascara brings out the best in one's lashes and eyes without even looking like makeup. Of course one can intensify the result almost indefinitely, depending on the occasion. But the result is always classy, never a cheap overload.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this product. It is available as regular (non waterproof) in three shades: black, brown and navy. But there are never smudges unless you're unprotected in the pouring rain. The staying power is first class.
The waterproof series consists of four shades: black, navy, bronze, emerald. (I have my beady eyes on the emerald one, a nice green is so hard to find.)
Both types come in a similar looking tube, rectangular and slim with a gold band. The box matches it with understated design.
Both series retail between £18 and £19.
As usual there may be better deals online. But it is vital to make as sure as possible that the goods are authentic and fresh. I'm not discouraging from online shopping, I buy and sell online myself. But one shouldn't endanger one's skin, especially one's eyes for the sake of a bargain.

Here is also a makeup tip from the nice Chanel lady at the local John Lewis store. To make coloured mascara stand out, it is good to apply black as usual, then apply the other colour to the tips, or slighly beyond. I haven't tried this technique yet, but it's good to get such first hand advice from the experts.

Summary: the best mascara yet
