First Impressions
Owning a piece of Chanel, however small, is a real treat. Ok, so i couldn't afford to splash out on their designer clothes and handbags, but as I approached the Chanel counter in Boots, I fell in love with the vast range of beautifully packaged products, from lip glosses to foundations. I already had lots of lipglosses and eye shadows, so felt I couldn't really justify buying anymore... but I didn't have an illuminator...So after trying the product on the back of my hand and being pleased with the soft shimmer and how smooth it made my skin, I eagerly bought Chanel's Sheer Illuminating Base. I must admit, the deal breaker was the elegant glass, cuboid shaped bottle, with a black lid displaying the infamous Chanel logo. The liquid within is fairly watery, and is a pearly white colour. It also smells delicious.

What it Promises
'An illuminating makeup base to even out skin texture, prime the skin for foundation, and improve the hold of makeup. The non-oily texture glides onto the skin, leaving it perfectly primed for foundation and improving the hold of makeup. The BASE LUMIÈRE formula contains micro-spherical polymers and opalescent pigments, which minimise imperfections, smooth skin texture and even out the complexion'.

How to Use
Dab the product onto the skin with fingertips, then blend and follow with foundation.

Price
The product retails at £22.51 at Boots. Although expensive, it is a little piece of luxury, will last a long time and will offer very impressive results.

Performance
After cleansing my face I used the spatula provided to dab some of the product onto the back of my hand, using only a little as more can be added if necessary. I then used my fingertips to dab the liquid onto the apples of my cheeks, and blended. Immediately, I found my skin looked much fresher and literally glowed. It looked bright and natural, rather than looking like I'd used a lot of make-up. I found I only had to use a tiny bit of foundation after the illumiantor, and the glow still shone through and left my skin feeling really smooth. Several people complimented me on my skin looking so dewy and fresh, and I would certainly buy this product again. Though, judging by how much is left, that will take some time.
