I recently got a new job and got a few gifts for leaving presents and my colleagues knowing me so well included a Chanel lip gloss amongst my bag of gifts. I was so pleased as I love getting new cosmetics but even moreso it being Chanel was better as I'd been wanting one of these for ages but had never got round to buying one. The shade that was bought for me was shade 166 Amour which is a lovely bright sort of pinky coral shade, perfect for the summer. Chanel cosmetics are one brand that I haven't really had much of a chance to use but after being so pleased with my lip gloss, I may have to start trying more of their stuff.
This lip gloss comes in luxurious packaging which is what adds to the charm of getting new make up. In traditional Chanel packaging, it comes in a tall black gloss box with a gold border on the surface, it has the Chanel logo on the front and the shade name in white type, very easy to see. It gives you 5.5g of gloss and it also has a list of all of the ingredients on the side of it. The gloss itself is in a tall rectangular shapes glass case with a dark black plastic lid, again with a gold rim. It has in gold on the top, the classic Chanel 'C' symbol and the gloss colour can be seen through the clear glass body, the lid has the applicator sponge attached to it also.
LEVRES SCINTILLANTES GLOSSIMER
This lip gloss is sheer luxury, it is an ultra gloss meaning they come in a range of vibrant and bold colours but give a perfect finish to any look. The description for this gloss is that the gel fluid is meant to be easy to apple and meant to be smooth on lips to keep them feeling comfortable. They have created this gloss to ensure glide-on application as well as an even look and a long lasting finish. They recommend that this can be used with a lip pencil to give an added outline but I haven't tried this yet. They do a great range of colours ranging from corals, pinks to nudes, reds, peaches, there is a colour there for everyone and any occasion.
Now, taking it back to my experience, I love to wear gloss but am a bit lazy as I hate how it comes off all of the time when drinking and eating. The only good thing though with a gloss is that it is so easy to wear and does soften lips. It can be put on just to walk to the supermarket and gives anyone a healthier look or it can be worn on a night out or a dinner date. It just glams up the most casual look and adds life to a look which is why I love it. This Chanel gloss is light to hold and it doesn't seem like there is a lot in it but there is. The lid is very easy to twist off and when pulling out the applicator it is easy to do as it has a tight head to remove any excess gloss off the sponge tip.
Once the sponge is out, it should have just the right amount of gloss on it ready to apply and the top of it, has the slightest slant to help with applying it to lips. It isn't too sticky at all and glides on really easily and evenly, it is a thicker mixture but it feels nice one on and makes me lips feel nice and soft which I like. I have shade 166 Amour which is a light pinky/coral shade and it doesn't show up boldly, it looks quite sheer but you can see the colour in the light which is nice, I haven't tried the darker glosses so don't know whether they go on dark or if they go on sheer with a hint of colour in the light, either way it looks great and quite natural but very girly.
I am really pleased with my Chanel gloss and although like any gloss, it will start to come off when wearing it if you are drinking etc, this is fine as it is so thin it is easy to take out on a night out in a clutch bag as it is small. It is easy to reapply and it goes on very even looking and completes all of my looks well, by just adding that subtle touch of colour and shine to my lips. After wearing this, my lips to feel great and it feels like luxury, really worth the money. I won't be wearing this as my daily gloss as it is pricey but it is well worth wearing on special occasions or nights out as it makes me feel sexy having Chanel on and I love it and want more colours.
This gloss can be purchased at all department stores with a Chanel counter, like Boots and Debenhams. Debenhams sell this gloss for £21 but their website currently have 10% off which is good.
The official Chanel website is http://www.chanel.com/en_GB/.
I have always been a bit scared of the Chanel counter in department stores - the ladies behind the counter are always that bit too pristine and the products look that bit too extravagant and expensive to buy to be able to have a good browse.
However, a while ago (pre baby and whilst in full time employment) I had some time to kill in Duty Free once so I thought I would bite the bullet and have a good look around.
Sure enough, as soon as I got to the counter I was drawn in. That gorgeous black packaging with the magical gold "C"s - I just had to buy something and I purchased one of these lovely lipglosses.
I was so excited to finally having bought a Chanel lip gloss I rushed to ladies to try it out. The lip gloss comes in a heavy duty plastic tube - feels almost glass like and the top is of course black with the "C"s clearly showing on the lid.
The lip gloss is really luxurious to apply to the lips and coats very easily with just one layer. It is not sticky at all and lasts really well.
I purchased the lip gloss in "Twinkle" shade - a gorgeous rosey gold colour which instantly transforms my everyday make up into a really glamourous look. I must admit that equally as much as I enjoy the look and feel of this product on my lips, I enjoy the feeling that I am really treating myself when using it.
These lovely lipglosses retail at over £18, so more than I would expect to pay for even a premium lipgloss. But, you are buying into the brand as much as the lipgloss, so if your pocket can stretch to it and you really need a treat then go for it. As for me, hmm, think I will need to make my current one last for a wee while longer before replacing!
I got this while I was on holiday in Barcelona from a cosmetics store in the city centre. I don't regularly shop for makeup from brands like Chanel but like to occasionally treat myself to an expensive lip gloss. I usually get Dior or Lancôme but the Chanel counter appealed to me more on this occasion.
The lip gloss was Euro25 which I admit is ridiculously expensive and with the current exchange rate might as well be £25 but I was immediately impressed with this lip gloss. After looking at loads of different colours I went with "Seashell" which in the bottle was a gold shimmery colour.
It comes in a long plain bottle with a black lid which has the tiny Chanel logo in gold at the top. The bottle is quite plain but looks classy. There isn't anything distinctive about it though so you wouldn't necessarily know it was designer without looking closer. The bottle is in a nice black box with various Chanel print in gold. Although I haven't really found much use for the box it is a nice feature when spending so much.

***The Lip Gloss...
The first thing I will talk about is the colour, it is a gorgeous gold colour with loads of little sparkly bits in. The bits are subtle though and don't look like big pieces of glitter and you cant feel them. However they create an amazing gloss effect that made my lips look so much bigger. I never really paid attention to these 3D effect lip glosses before that promise to create the illusion of bigger lips, however this really does do that! The gloss also creates a really nice high shine look. I think the colour is suitable for day or night however I prefer to use it only at night as I prefer a clear or pink gloss during the day.
It has a sponge applicator which quite surprised me as most designer brands are moving towards brush applicators which are apparently more hygienic. However I prefer a sponge applicator which gives a more smooth rather than streaky finish and is generally easier to use when you're on the go. The gloss is neither watery nor thick, I would say it was about right. However this means that like any other lip gloss that isn't really thick the colour does come off fairly quickly, more so if you're drinking or eating. But because it isn't too thick it feels comfortable on the lips and not sticky, also meaning your hair doesn't end up sticking to it after 5 seconds!
It doesn't really have a smell which is what I expected from a lip gloss like this. It is really moisturising on the lips, it feels great when you put it on in the same way that applying lip gloss feels nice on dry lips. And my lips have stayed moisturised while I have it on and afterwards.
I have only ever worn it on its own, I don't think it is suitable as a shimmer over another solid lip colour as I think it would cover up the original colour too much. However it would go well with a beige lip liner.
I am really impressed with this lip gloss. I know it still doesn't justify the price tag and would definitely only ever see something like this as a treat, yet it does excel any cheaper lip glosses I have used and many other designer ones I have tried. So if you do like spending a bit more occasionally I would highly recommend this.
