There is a lot of hype about high end lipsticks, but are they actually worth the price? Some lipsticks are over £40 which is crazy for make up. I decided to buy my first CHANEL Lipstick yesterday and tried it then for the first time. I love the simple, sleek packaging for the Chanel lipsticks. They are very old fashioned looking. I havent seen a lipstick for a long time with this type of packaging. I like that the packaging says Chanel on it as if I'm spending a lot on a designer lipstick I like when the brand is clears this lipstick is quite small in size, I think it is kind of cute because I feel like you can for these in your evening bag easier. I bought this in a bright pink colour. The colours in this range are fantastic for summer. This reminds me a little of happy go lucky by MAC. They are both fun and summery pink shades. The mac lipstick is only £15 where as the Chanel is double the price. Mac have really good quality lipsticks and sell every shade imaginable. This is more of a velvety lipstick, it kind of has that thick fluffy feel so it has that depth to it. I like that you can easily wear this as an even and sheer lip colour with just one coat. It doesn't get blotchy while rubbing it around it goes on really smoothly and even. You could wear this out in the day time for lunch or to work and it's not too much as it doesn't feel too opaque like mac lipsticks. This is also a great pink for darker skin tones.
I think this lipstick is definitely worth the high cost and it does the job extremely well. 5/5.
WHAT IS IT?
This is lipstick that is made by Chanel. It is called Super Hydrabase and the colour I have got is called Rouge, it is a rose red shade.
WHAT I THINK
I have had my Chanel lipstick for 2 years but I do not use it very often because I think the shade does not look very good on my skin. It looks nice when it has got lip gloss over it but it has to be heavy lip gloss to alter the shade a little bit and I do not like to wear heavy lip gloss in the day but this colour is not suited for wearing at night.
The lipstick is very creamy and I am happy that it stays creamy even when I do not use it for many months. The colour is put straight onto my lips and my skin does not drag when I am applying it. I am very happy with how long the lipstick stays on my lips and it takes many hours for it to fade even if I am eating and drinking.
It is a little bit shiny but it does not look very good without lip gloss and that is a pity because I would wear it alot more if I did not have to apply the lip gloss.
The colour of mine is very bold and there is alot of pigment in the lipstick so that when you apply it it is solid colour.
There are many colours available but you can purchase Super Hydrabase only from Ebay now because Chanel have stopped making them and now some of the colours sell for very expensive money.
I remember that my lipstick cost £20 and that looks like alot of money but it is worth it because the lipstick is quality and if you got the colour that was suited for you then it would be a very good lipstick for anyone.
4 Dooyoo Hearts.
I have only ever bough cheap lipsticks (e.g. Boots 17). I have alays been reasonable happy with them, but as I suffer from dry lips I can't seem to wear them to often. I decided to treat myself to a more expensive one, in the hope that it would make my lips look more moist and that I could therefore wear it more of the time. I was going abroad to a wedding, so this seemed like an ideal treat. It was expensive at £22 from my local department store, Fenwicks, but I hoped it would be well worth it. I bought it in a light pink shade as I hoped it would be generic and long lasting so it could almost be seen as in investment.
The lipstick comes in very classy packaging. The tube it is in is a gloss black, very plain and like a square with rounded off corners. It has the famous chanel label on the lid. The lid lifts off to give a metal twist type dispenser with is nice and lose and moves easily up and down. The lipstick itself is a lovely colour and has no real scent, it is fairly neutral, so it wont irritate you when it is on your lips.
The lipstick feels quite moist and is therefore easy to apply as it just slides on. It doesn't get caught on, and therefore exagerate any dry patches. It acts only to enhance your lips rather than highlight the bad bits! It looks gorgeous on, has a shimmer to it and doesnt appear to be block colour, so looks more natural and less dramatic than full coverage, which is ideal for me and the circumstances I wanted this lipstick for. The finish was shiney, but not 100% complete sheen like I had mirrors stuck to my lips!
The lipstick was incredibly long lasting and looked beautiful on. It didnt plump my lips or make them appear fuller, but to be hones I wasn't after that. I really like this lipstick and for once I might use one to the end and actually finish it!!
I first experienced Chanel lipstick when I was trying out makeup for my wedding. I went to the Chanel counter as their makeup had been recommended to me by a friend who said that it will last a long time during the day.
The assistant at the counter tried a few lipsticks with me after I told her that I wanted a natural look that would last a long time during my Wedding. I eventually chose a light brown lipstick and liner with a clear gloss to go over the top. As this was a natural look choice for my Wedding day, I also chose a browny red shade for nights out!
I have tried many different brands of lipstick and Chanel is really one of my favourites. It is a luxury item though which I splurged on before my Wedding but it has lasted a long time. I can rely on the lipstick not to wear off quickly or spread everywhere after kissing or eating. It also seems to moisturise my lips rather than drying them out as other brands have done.
Throughout my Wedding Day I only had to reapply twice until the end of the evening. I loved the natural look that the lipstick gave for my Wedding Day and I also love the look that my other Chanel lipstick gives me for evenings out - which is more dramatic and very glam.
I also love the classy look of chanel products that will look great in your makeup bag! The lipsticks have a black casing with a gold letter C on the top. You really feel special when wearing it.
If you really want to spoil yourself on an item that you can rely on, then this is the one.
Essential lipstick! This product comes in an array of colours but I only use the darkest reds so demand good colour destiny and coverage which this product certainly delivers. Finding that exact shade of red is never easy and Chanel delivers in droves with this lipstick. Once in place it stays, is durable and does not leave that awful lipstick mark on a glass, cigarette or your boyfriend's collar. I use a lipstick brush for this lipstick as it is so good that to apply direct is overkill but doing that means it lasts longer.
Packaged in classic Chanel black, these look so good when you take them out to touch up.
Chanel also do a range of excellent lip liners which create a perfect compliment to these brilliant lipsticks but not essential as this product is simply the best of its kind, classic brilliance in product and packaging. Highly recommended.
If you like rich and creamy lipsticks but don't mind paying extra for them then head down to your local Chanel counter.
The Chanel Hydrabase lipstick is an astounding product that has classy and sophisticated packaging with a product inside that does not fail to impress. The packaging is designed well in order for comfortable application.
The lipstick itself has a moisturising formula with a deep satin effect coverage. Due to the fact that it is enhanced with Vitamin E & Camomile, the lipstick has a soft, creamy and therapeutic feel.
The shade that I use is 'Aura'. I find that it is a very subtle and sophisticated every day shade which gives me long lasting and equal coverage.
The lipstick comes in a wide range of colours and is a necessity for the make up bag.
This is a good product which will last a long time and is worth those extra pennies.
I've got a great deal of time for Chanel makeup. Sure, it's expensive, but it's so full of pigment that you'll find it lasts much longer than a lot of other brands, even the high end ones. If you're susceptible to dry or bitty lips, then the Hydrabase range is for you. The lipstick really does moisturise, smooth out and plump up your lips, which is something I've not found with many brands. The colours are wonderful, too; the nice thing about Chanel is that they get the sought-after, fashionable colours in months before many of the other companies do. Remember Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction? That was Chanel's Rouge Noir, which was so popular it remained almost impossible to buy for about a year after the film came out. There are loads of different finishes too; metallic, creamy, sheer...you'll have to check them out. At the last count I had an embarrassing 12 different colours of Hydrabase. It's the only lipstick I use these days. It's long lasting, (almost as good as those painfully drying cheaper ones which claim to be kissproof, although it makes no claims to be), has a gorgeous texture, leaves your lips soft, comes in colours that will suit everyone, and, last but not least, smells really nice too. I've an enduring love for the Chanel sales staff. They're not pushy, they're incredibly helpful, and they don't push stuff you don't want on you. The bullets the stuff comes in are typically stylish; black with the interlocking Cs and a gold band. It makes you feel rather swish when you're doing up your make up in public, if you're as shallow as I seem to be. Buy one and see what you think.
Moisturizing formula; imparts broad range of fashion-forward colours with a long-lasting satiny finish and medium coverage
