      Chanel chic!

Chanel pressed powder compact. I have used this product for years and find it a reliable stable and although there are better powders available nothing beats getting the Chanel compact out to check one's lipstick in it's mirror!

Being very fair skinned I use 02 Plein Jour which is an excellent colour for me given that the range is limited. The powder has average coverage and a translucent effect which means it does not build up and gives a natural coverage for day use as the name would suggest.

The packaging is the Chanel trademark black with the logo on the lid - discrete not blatant - a squarer compact with rounded corners. Opening is easy (no nail chipping ladies!) and the mirror takes up the entire inner lid area which is brilliant for those impromptu checks. The compact comes with a perfectly white velour sponge which applies well and fits snugly over the rounded pressed powder within.

I tend to buy at airports (usually duty free) so I will not comment on price. This powder lasts me a year or more as it has durability so I find it very cost effective.

      A thing of beauty.

Marc bolan would have loved it....

I realised the other day that i'd actually lost this. Do I miss it? Not really, and i'll tell you for why....

I had a chanel poweder compact before but it wasn't pale enough for me, it was a little bit orangey. So when i saw this in the shops in Rose, i thought "great". Then i bought it home. I delved into my little chanel bag after kissing my 26 quid goodbye and peered into the compact mirror packaging, and popped some of this pale powder on my face and thought it was fantastic. really soft, powdery, chalky texture and really matt. My new favourite make up item i thought.

Next day, a friend said to me "why have you got glitter on your face?" i said i haven't. He said "looks like it to me". I wrote this off as a man being an idiot and carried on about my day when i noticed there was glitter on my fingers. Glitter?

Then i took the sodding mirror out and looked at my face in the daylight. I looked like Brian Connolly from the sweet, or in a bad light Gary Glitter...

Y'see, its a matt powder, but some imbecile decided to put "light reflecting pigments" in it. Better known to us mere mortals as glitter....

And I hate glitter. its not 1973....

I was in denial for a while, trying to brush glittery bits out of it, i even tried to use it as a mirror, whilst buying another powder- dammit i want my 26 quids worth, but now its gone. I don't know where, probably back to 1973...
