Advantages: Conditioning , Great Range of Colours
Disadvantages: Not easily available on the High Street
I was given a gift voucher for the Nail Bar last Christmas but as my nails were so brittle and badly bitten I was too embarrassed to use it for ages as I didn't want false nails I didn't think there was anything they could do for me. Despite trying to grow my nails on several occasions, but eventually succumbing and nibbling them all off again, I finally decided to use my gift voucher in April as I was going out for my birthday and thought it would be a nice treat to have a manicure and polish. The salon I visited used the Platinum Series of nail lacquers known as China Glaze Nail Lacquer, the subject of this opinion, (China Glaze also produce other nail lacquers, this range can be identified by the platinum coloured caps sealing the bottle). **THE PRODUCT** There are 24 colours in the China Glaze Platinum Series range and the colours available include pale pinks - bright pinks, rich reds ranging from cranberry to crimson shades, shades of blue ranging from periwinkle - dark midnight blue, lilacs to violets, beige to deep brown and even charcoal grey to black shades. Most shades have either a shimmer or a glitter finish and all have a high gloss finish. I was advised to choose a pastel shade as it would be better suited to my short bitten nails, darker colours can emphasize the bitten nails and the end result can end up looking really awful. I chose a light iridescent lilac colour known as Fresh Start. The pastel shade still attracts the eye to the colour on the nails but the overall look given is more aesthetically pleasing than a darker colour and quite natural looking. The Platinum Series China Glaze Nail Lacquer colour lasts up to 12 days and does not chip or peel like many of its' competitors. The lacquer can be used on natural, acrylic, gel and fibreglass nails. To get a good even coverage I would recommend putting on 2 coats. The product contains vitamins A, D3 and E to increase moi
sture retention and natural flexibility, it also contains built in hardeners and claims to promote restoration and growth of distressed nails in 8 weeks. The nail lacquer is easy to apply and is fast drying. I have found other nail polishes go thick and lumpy within a short space of time and become virtually unusable within a few weeks. From my experience of this product I have found that it does not clog up at all, I have been using my current bottle for nearly 2 months and it is as good today as it was the on the day I bought it. ** THE VERDICT ** I have been using this product for about 4 months now and have definitely noticed a big difference in the condition of my nails. They have become much stronger and don't break and split continually. For the first time in my life I actually have healthy, strong, medium length nails - the only problem I have now is that as a secretary I find it harder to type with longer nails - there's no pleasing some people is there? At £4.99 per .5oz bottle I believe that this product is excellent value. I have used many nail polishes in the past but have never used a lacquer before. I have found that the lacquer provides a much more professional finish that that of a polish. I don't know how widely available this product is in the UK. The salon I used stock this product and I purchased a .5oz bottle for £4.99 - I have not seen this product elsewhere in the UK but have carried out a search on the internet for the product and believe that it can be purchased from the following website using this URL http://www.prossalonsupply.com/en-us/dept_40.html I would highly recommend this product and especially would recommend it to anyone who currently has brittle unconditioned nails or to anybody trying to grow their nails.

- 08/08/02 I'm usually too clumsy to bother with wearing nail varnish. I wonder whether this one would work for me. |
