Finding a good eye liner is a bit of a challenge as I want one that can blend easily but I want it to last. Some eye liner comes off so easily; I blink and it dissolves on my face! If I go on a night out I do want to look like a panda by the end of the night, I want my make up to stay and last all night. I bought the Dior eye liner and I certainly did not regret buying it. My pockets felt very light afterwards but it is a great eye liner and a good investment.
==Price and availability==
The eyeliner costs around £16.50 and I bought it from Boots so I could earn my advantage card points too.
The eyeliner comes in a posh box with its own sharpener. I love buying posh eye liner as you always get a new sharpener which is a bonus. The eye liner is silver with shiny lids on either side. One end is the pencil and the other is a sponge tip to blend with. This is the most irritating thing about eye liners. A thin hard sponge tip is useless and does nothing but pull the eyeliner straight off and pull on your eye lid. The pencil end of the liner is wood but it is soft rubbery wood so when you sharpen it you always get a smooth finish with no splinters. The pencil is gel like so it glides on the skin without too much pushing on.
The eye liner is brilliant and with a delicate hand you can leave a fantastic straight line that can be so thin you can hardly see it or bold and thick to make a statement. It is easy to work with and you do not need much pressure for the colour to be transferred. I have a black eyeliner and it can be used to create some very dramatic looks. It is easy to apply and it blends well if you do not want a harsh black line. I often wear my make up for long periods of time and this eye liner lasts really well on the skin. It does not run or disappear and if I apply it once, I will not need to touch it up at all unless I want to do something different with it. I love how easy it is to apply and with one fell swoop of the nip you can line the full lid. Because it is quite gel like and goes on the skin well, the end tends to wear down quickly so I do find myself sharpening it an awful lot with ultimately runs it out quicker. I often have to sharpen between each eye as I like a perfectly sharp end. However, because you only need to apply it once, this does not matter so much and I would much rather find it easy to apply then be scratching away at my eye lid with a really hard pencil.
To conclude, yes this is expensive but it looks really good. You get such a definitive black line that it looks like liquid liner, yet it is much easier to apply! This is well recommended.
- Design: The eyeliner is quite long and double headed. One side is the eyeliner itself, and the other side is a little black cotton thing which you use to smudge the eyeliner if you want the smokey eyes effect.
- Packaging: The eyeliner comes in a long blue box in the signature Dior colour. Inside the box is also a Dior eyeliner sharpener which you use to sharpen the eyeliner when it is blunt - the sharpener is definitely one of the best I've used. It works well on other eyeliner pencils too, e.g. Mac.
My experience with it
I bought this under a friend's suggestion, when I complained that I couldn't find a good eyeliner that doesn't smudge or wear off. I have quite oily skin so smudging is definitely a big problem for me as well. So glad I listened to her suggestion, because this is definitely one of the best eyeliner pencils I've used! I got the black waterproof one - 094 is the exact model number. It colours easily and the black is very strong, unlike some other eyeliner pencils I've used before. I only need to run it once or twice over my eyelids to have a strong, well-defined line. Especially good for smokey eyes, because the colour is so strong and you can use you fingers/brush to smudge and blend it with ease.
Experience tells me that it stays perfect for at least 5-6 hours before I have to top it up again - perfect for work, or if you're out a lot! The sharpener is also very handy, as it keeps the eyeliner pencil sharp which allows me to draw thin eyelines when I wish to. I would recommend the waterproof one especially, because it makes your eyelines durable even with sweat or tears!
Christian Dior Eyeliner Pencil
If you look though some of my other review, you will see that there are quite a few pencil, khol and liquid liners and I am just a tiny bit obsessed with them and I have loads. This is one that I got in a Dior travel set/palette when I went on a cruise last summer and the set I bought contained a small mini version of this liner in noir.
Firstly I really love the packaging, it is so sleek and it is a pretty silver colour. And it has the colour of the pencil on the end of it too. I have the noir 090 version and like I said it is the mini one.
I am a bit undecided about this product - it has good and bad points. It is really easy to use and apply to my waterline and my eyelid. I do use it mostly on my waterline but it does not stay very long on my waterline, so if I do use this one then I have to keep reapplying it though out the day to maintain the strong line of colour.
It blends easily too, so it is great if you are trying to get the smoky eye look and it does not tug or pull on either my waterline or on my lids, which is good as tugging/pulling the skin around you eyes can create lines and decrease the skins elasticity.
I got this in a set/palette which I think cost about $55, but Im not sure. I got this from the Royal Caribbean beauty store on the ship that I was on and I am not sure if you can get the set that I got this with in the UK (The set is really amazing and great for traveling. I LOVE the set). But if you want to buy the eyeliner on its own, you can buy it from boots (or boots.com) for £16 for the normal size version. They also have a waterproof one.

*Nice sleek simple packaging
