Christian Dior Bronze Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder
by HayleyBlondiee
I don't usually go for the high end designer brands for bronzers - foundations yes, as they are the most important part of creating a 'second skin' for yourself, so I can justify spending a lot on them. But bronzers aren't something that are always my go to product, so I never really seen the point in spending so much on them. That was ... until I heard about the Christian Dior Bronze Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder. As the name suggests it adds a healthy glow to your skin - but also makes your skin healthier.
How you may ask, well Dior introduced the first bronzing powder of their range that not only enhances the colour of your complexion, but also the condition, to give you a luminous glow that makes you look as though you just stepped off the plane from Ibiza all year long! It contains an exclusive 'Sun Minerals Technology' that have lots of mineral pigments to mimic naturally tanned skin. It also re creates the beneficial energy of the sun on your skin - no matter what light you are in, so you always look glowing! The result is an 'ultra natural tan and a radiant relaxed complexion!' As you can see its not just an ordinary bronzer as it is actually doing good for your skin whilst you wear it! a great advantage I think is that it is suitable for all skin types 'even the driest skin' according to Dior, and I can vouch for that! As during the summer my skin has been very dry so I have been trying to avoid powder products, however with this one I found it didn't not sit in patches or look flaky - it just made my skin look and more importantly feel better!
The packaging is very classic of Dior and very classy. I find with a lot of designer brands they keep the deign very simple and unadorned as they want the product itself to be the focal point - I think that's why a lot of drugstore brands are attempting to copy and cool off the artwork a bit! It comes in a warm, red toned mahogany brown rectangular compact that simply has the word Dior imprinted on the top in a spotlight. Once you lift up the lid by opening the sturdy clasp, you are greeted with a mirror - a must have for compacts in my opinion as it makes your Life so much easier when applying! The bronzer itself is presented in the pan but has the word Dior and also the shade names (see below) imprinted into them like a stencil in a sandpit! Just in case you forget what it is while applying!
There are for shades to choose from, which I think is very good for a bronzer as they usually only have one or two standard shades. But that is not the case with Dior - they have made sure everyone is catered for which I think is great! The shades are:
001 Healthy Tan: As you may have guessed this shade claims to make you look as though you have a healthy tanned complexion. And that is exactly what it does! The shade isn't too dark so it appears to look natural as appose to fake and caked on. Although it is light it still does have a few bronzed and golden undertones running through to give some depth and structure to your tan, as a natural tan is not just one colour all over. I would recommend this for fairer skin tones as it is not too dark or heavy that it will appear fake!
002 Honey Tan: This shade is a slightly darker brown than 001 but still isn't too dark that it would appear false, if you have fair skin but want to add a bit of colour to it and wake it up a bit then I would suggest this shade. Also if you have a medium skin tone I think this would work great as it is the perfect shade to enhance the natural tones, with soft and subtle golden undertones and a very slight hint of burgundy.
003 Amber Tan: This shade is what I would class as a medium tan as it is a medium bordering on dark brown with a lot of bronze undertones. I would say this would suit medium to dark skin tones as it has a beautiful blend of warm tones going all the way through.
004 Spicy Tan: This is the darkest shade of the range and is a gorgeous colour with a warm 'spicy' brown that is infused with lots of different shades of bronze - ranging from red tones to darker tones, mixed in with a hint of gold! This would suit medium to darker skin tones.
I chose the lightest shade - 001 Healthy Tan - as I am very fair with blonde hair and blue eyes so tan and bronzers always look quite fake on me, unless they are a lighter shade. I have to say this one was a perfect colour for me! I was so glad - I only use this on my cheeks as I don't like to contour my face, however if you do then this would be perfectly suitable to do so. Once on it adds a gorgeous flush of bronze to my cheeks and makes me feel and look much healthier. Since I have been wearing it, I have found that my skin feels a lot softer and it's very easy to take off - no scrubbing needed! I like to apply this with a large fluffy brush and team it with a pink or red toned blush.
You can purchase Dior at Boots or Boots.com, as well as the Dior website and any online make up stores that sell designer brands. You can also purchase at any department store that has a Dior counter. Being a designer brand you can expect this is going to come with a large price tag - and it does at a few pennies off £30. This is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a bronzer - however it does make for a very good present or a special treat for yourself, and I really would recommend it as it not only makes your skin look good - it makes it feel good too! Christian Dior Diorskin Crystal Nude
by HayleyBlondiee
We all adore Dior but not so much the price tags! That's why I only rarely glance at the counter when shopping. On a recent retail therapy session I happened to turn into magpie mode and spot this shiny compact!
On first inspection I wasn't so sure what in fact it was *blonde moment* but a closer look and a skim read of the ... box enlightened me to the concept - it is a primer and a shine control all rolled into one. I have tried many primers (and reviewed them) but found this one to look and feel much different as it's a one of a kind product being a transparent balm that glides over your skin to act as a primer before foundation, or you can apply after to add a healthy glow to the skin and reduce shine.
It may be silly but I always check out the packaging and design before deciding to buy - some people do not care and will buy even if it was encased in a loo roll! But with this product it is sure to make a statement in your collection. It comes in an optional black velvet suede pocket to keep it clean and free from scratches when in your bag, once you take the compact out - pop your sunglasses on 'cause it's a dazzler! Made from a gorgeous, gleaming sort of stainless steel (I imagine) however I would like to think of it as Silver or White Gold to justify paying the high end price! The design is very minimalistic with just a faint print of the brand 'Dior' emblazoned on the top. I absolutely love the way it looks as its stylish, sophisticated and snazzy - a real treat for your make up bag! Once you open up the sturdy clasp, (another aspect I love about the blueprint - its built to last!) the fun and games really begin. One the top half and the inside of the lid is a mirror - something every compact should have as it is highly useful and practical. The bottom half is divided into two - one part containing the product and in the other, the soft square sponge.
The product itself looks like a clear lipbalm - very waxy with cloudy clear colouring. If you swirl your finger over the primer, it feels very velvety and silky but not in a liquid form like a cream. I have found the best way to apply it is with the sponge provided - but don't worry if you have heard that you shouldn't use sponges as the absorb half of your product, the consistency of the Dior primer is resilient and durable enough to be applied with a sponge. There are two ways to wear it. One is under your foundation as a primer. I like to start off with a clean and moisturised complexion and run the sponge through the product to pick up enough to cover my T-Zone. You can wear it all over your face, however I tend to use it only on the places I need it to not waste it. You can then go ahead and apply your foundation and watch how easily it glides on over the top. I LOVE the results, although it does not make pores disappear (no product can do that) it does make them seem smaller and definitely not as noticeable. Any acne, scars or fine lines are smoothed away as well - it's a perfect primer!
You can wear this on its own as it does appear matte at first however you will need to keep it with you for a top up during the day - but in a handy little compact it makes the task very easy. Alternatively you could sweep a small amount of powder to any oily parts. Having said that I am glad because it does not dry my skin out or end up looking patchy or chalky, so anyone with dry skin will love this. In fact anyone at all will LOVE this as it is suitable for all skin types. If you are going to wear this on its own I would bear in mind that it only comes in one form or shade as its called 'Crystal Nude' for the reason that it does not add any colour to your skin so you may want to add some concealer for some extra coverage.
Which brings me to the second way in which you can wear this product. Once you have put your foundation on, using the sponge again you can gently and neatly dab some product onto the areas you want to control the shine - I tend to apply some to my nose and forehead. I love the way it makes my make up look and feel - my make up has more staying power and the oil control is amazing. Alternatively, if you can't decide which way to wear it you can be greedy like me and do a bit of both!
Dior claim that this product 'offers all skin types a texture that acts like an optical filler to erase shine and flaws while revealing the living matter of nude skin.' Meaning that your skin will look like a better version of itself! So if your trying to do a 'no make up' make up look, or fool your boyfriend into thinking you are a natural beauty then this is the one! Dior has also developed its very first 'optical effect crystalline formula' which hence a guess at where the name came from!
Overall, I am very happy with this product as it satisfies my skins needs without clogging my pores it making it appear cakey. Thank you Dior! Retailing at £27 it is very high end and very expensive however it does have amazing quality and a little does go a long way. If your not too sure about spending that amount on a primer then go to your local department store or large Boots and ask to test it first, that way you will know if it is for you for sure!
Available at Boots, department stores that stock Dior and all good online make up stores. If your make up bag could talk, it would have all ready left with your credit card to buy this! Read the complete review |

Dior Addict Lip Gloss
by steve4oo
Lip glosses are almost like a collectable item for me and my collection seems to be ever growing! I have recently started using make up by Dior and recently came across like in my local Debenhams...
** Packaging **
As expected, a luxury premium brand like Dior package their products in a way that makes them look very ... expensive and really good quality. Dior addicted lipgloss is no exception. The clear plastic rectangular tube has been finished with a circular shape on top, nit only making it look snazzy but much easier to hold while applying it. The Dior logo is printed onto one side of the tube and I've noticed that if you hold it to the light, the tube appears to be several different colours, very clever!
** Stockists and pricing **
You will find a Dior concession in most large department stores including Debenhams, Selfridges and Harrods. They are also stocked in larger Boots stores and they are widely available online, so check out sone discount beauty websites for a reduced price! I paid £20 for the lipgloss from my local Debenhams but it may be available cheaper elsewhere.
** Shades **
Diors website have a good selection of 25 shades with almost ever colour ranging from nude to red but I personally chose 'pink flirt' number 247.
** Application and use **
As mentioned above, the applicator is really easy to hold and simply unscrews for the tube. It has a somewhat small applicator brush, but this allows for precise application. When the applicator is removed from the tube, I have always found there is a nice amount of product on the end to apply and no excess product. When applying the product it is very noticeable that the shade is rich in colour and as a result you don't need to use too much of it. It goes on very easily and it's too thick or gloopy, but instead creates a nice, light layer on the lips. It doesn't have much or a scent or it but it isn't unpleasant like some products. Similarly, the taste is fairly bland but quite sweet (I licked my lip my accident and tasted it!!). Once applied, the colour really stands out and compliments my skin tone and make up well. I've also found that my lips appear quite plump after use too and it gives them a nice shape although this is probably due to the slight shimmer in the product.
** Durability **
Usually, a lip gloss will wear off after a couple of hours or after eating or drinking. Not this one! I have eaten lunch and gone to work with it on and it has stayed put. I only needed to reapply once throughout the day. The only thing I did find is that it is quite sticky and if your hair gets stuck in it, it can remove the product but that is to be excepted really!
** Summary **
So, all in all I found this to be a fantastic product. It applies easily, feels nice while it is on and doesn't need cineast reapplication. A big thumbs up from me! Read the complete review |
